Heading out soon. Forecasts calls for 15-20MPH winds. They call it breezy. In reality, you add 5 MPH to it and now it becomes windy... LOL. I may have to change tactics. Good luck to the rest of you around the state.

Bass fishing in the spring with a fly rod can be fun with little poppers. I took a buddy of mine a long time ago out to the glades on my boat, and he fished in the back with his fly rod. He did all right.

Now Martin is going to become Snook's new fishing partner.

Martin, what in the world are you going to do with that set up??

If you are using 20lb braid, that has the diameter of 8lb mono. So 10lb leader should be the minimum to use. Primetime, based on some of your responses there two things you should improve on. 1. Practice and practice some more on your leader knots. Alberto is my go to. I wrap 7 up and 4 down before I really lubricate with saliva and then cinch down tight. 2. Even if you are using 20lb braid and you have light leaders, for example less than 10lbs , if your hooksets are really hard you are going to snap the leader.

The centri brakes will control the beginning part of your cast better once you dial it in. That's where many people get in trouble with a B/C. Start with 2-3 pins out. Adjust your spool tension based on the weight of your lure, and you should be fine.

I know there has been rumblings of someone, or did I jump the gun and steal someone's declaration and official announcement? Jacob still has a chance to bust thing wide open. Joe can get the itch to go and Mutt will have no choice but to take him. Lunkmaster has been quiet for a while so he may be up to something. Me... well I am going to the glades tomorrow with one thing in mind actually two. 1. Find nice bass, hopefully they have started to come in. 2. Scouting for my trip on the 1st, so i can begin the New Year ahead of the game and not play catch up.

The 736 Champion Dobyns rod is your one and done rod. Look at the specs for this rod. Primary use flipping and pitching, secondary function, frogging. Now they have come out with the split grip in the same series. Yes, its a higher end rod as far as price but since you are looking for 2 rods for 2 applications this one rod fits the bill.

Poppers can be fun and productive. Me personally, I had a blast when I use to fish chug bugs. Caught me plenty of big fish with those.
