  1. Congrats. You and your Dad must have fished a lot together on that boat. Enjoy!!
  2. Your welcome... running this competition is not has easy as it may seem. Although its very fun, it does require a level of commitment, that I unfortunately, for the next few months will not be able to keep. We will talk about your ideas on Wed.
  3. I am your notepad..... with those fish you are at 88". Let's see them when you get the chance. Your top five are: 21" 18" 17" 16" 16" = 88"
  4. Just leave them in instagram, if you really wanted to participate you would have posted already. Yes, we get it you caught big fish this month. However for what ever reason you chose not to post pics. Now participants are enjoying their catches and posting, competition is ending tomorrow, and you want to swoop in and prove what? Enjoy your brownies and chocolate chip cookies.
  5. I gotta say, this month as turned out to be one of the better months for this competition. Although its not over, maybe for some of us, power plays could still be had. Dsidle is leading the way with 105" and also is the front nominee for "Big Fish Honors" . Great job to him. Really the top 4 have done really, really, well. Great job to all of you.
  6. Lunk you have an impressive stringer this month also. You are currently at 99". Great job. Do you have more fishing time in the tank or are you done for 2013? Sorry to hear you lost a pig yourself.
  7. Congrats on your first jig catch on your new set up.
  8. My biggest LMB this year went for 7lbs 3oz. My biggest peacock bass this year went for a tad over 5lb. As far as do I plan to do better this year ? That's up to the bass god's if those days are in store for me. But, yes I plan to do better this year.
  9. Nice fish Diggy. Its been a while since you posted a nice one.
  10. On the 3 outfits that carry braid on, I run with 40, 50, 65lb PP original braid. This braid could be bought at Walmart for a lower price than most. I have been using it for years and it has never failed me. As far as leaders, that's up to you. I use them in certain applications.
  11. Great job Gator. I documented your numbers, and those catches put you at 72" with 5 fish. WTG!!
  12. Holy smokes!! Beautiful fish Dsidle. That's a pig right there. Yes sir, that fish places you at 105". Great job buddy. Way to wrap up the year with a great fish. You guys are fishing some healthy waters.
  13. The farthest north that exotics tend to be is Palm Beach. Water temps play an important role in their ecosystem.
  14. Thanks man, no ice pick needed, but we did need eyes on the back of our heads towards the end of our day though. The gators were getting a little too close sometimes with all the fish commotion.
  15. The knots everyone is suggesting is spot on, the alberto is top notch for me. Imho, its not the knot that you should try to change, it sounds like its doing its job just fine. Its the the difference between the two lines. A much heavier line like the one you are using, will easily over power the weaker line. In your case its 15lb vs a 6lb leader. That knot stands no chance. Try to match the two lines a little closer together. But then again if you do want a break off, it should break from the leader.
  16. We have great variety down here for sure John. Captain Shane has been doing a great job lately, demonstrating the unique fishery we have down here. Hope you get to experience some day.
  17. That worm looks very versatile and deadly in the right situation.
  18. Dsidle congrats on your catches and possible win. Although more than likely you won. It will be official on Wed. It's always exhilarating when you catch a PB. It's been a while for me, but its one you will never forget. You have have been consistent the last few months good for you.
  19. Good for you Gator. I was rooting for you to get out on the water. I am glad the outing paid off for everyone.
  20. We caught over 45 bass yesterday out in the Glades. Mainly on frogs. Unfortunately, they are still on the small side but if they can handle a frog they are good enough for me.
  21. These fish were prolific in the glades right before the big freeze of 2010. Big population of peacock bass were also there. Before the big freeze we had a neighbor that use to love eating oscar, since they are exotics and not protected their are no harvesting limits. We filled the livewell of my boat from top to bottom one summer. The one I pictured is a pretty good size but before 2010 that size was just above average. .
  22. Google earth will be your friend. Trust me.
  23. I just wanted to share, another of our beautiful exotics down here in South Fl. I landed this guy on a frog while fishing in the Everglades today. This one measured 11" and I had to take this pic, because of its colors. Not only are these fish scrappy fighters, they can have some real pretty red patterns. Enjoy!!
  24. My day at the glades went well. Not as well as the Northern guys have been doing but none the less we had a good time. Wind was blowing hard from the East at 20 -25+ MPH and the day was overcast all day. We boated 45 fish using an assortment of baits. I just stuck with Pitching and Frogging. My brother in law, used trick worms, flukes, and frog. Unfortunately, from the amount I caught none were contest worthy. Oh well. I did catching a pretty nice mudfish on my new Dobyns and it handled it easily. I also caught a beautiful 11" Oscar on the frog. That was my first. I am done for December. I have to rest my arm so that LMG and I can tear it up on Wed. Enjoy the pics.
  25. Mutt and Dsidle I documented your catches. Joe finished up at 95" WTG!!! Dsidle I gave you 22" follow the bottom part of tail of that fish and the tail is even with 22". That puts you at 99". Congrats and that makes you the man to beat!! I told you guys it only took one to two key fish at this stage to change the standings.
