  1. I have both the Revo S 3rd Gen and the Lews tournament MG. Hands down the Tournament MG for a frogging reel, given the options. I enjoy my Revo S, please don't misunderstand me. But the Revo S, serves as a light soft plastic reel than frogging reel. It doesn't have the necessary muscle. The MG does. I can't speak for the other reel you mentioned.
  2. Another megastrike user here.
  3. When the fishing picks up, you can do well, at the spot you have off Tamiami trail.
  4. I hope your surgery went well today.
  5. Good to see you catching fish again. The everglades is hot right now for sheer numbers. The quality fish are slowly making a scene. Let's see what Spring brings.
  6. What's up Boston!! My stradic set up is a 2500 on 20lb PP braid. I can go lighter leaders and fish the small flukes, and/or throw around small plastics with 1/32 weight. I can usually catch a few with this setup when they get this finicky.
  7. Went to the canal again, this time a block away from my house. Whew .... they made me work today. I missed two, and caught one. They were really playing hard to get. I am going to have to take out the shimano stradic, and go ultra finesse. I have not done that in over a year. Should be interesting.
  8. And you said you couldn't catch them there...... LOl... Nice job.
  9. Thanks Jacob. I do my best not to get skunked. Yesterday, they weren't hunting after it. You had find some cover and work around it.
  10. Get your self some Rapala jerk baits and fish during the brightest part of the day. Also, PM Capt Shane, he will steer you in the right direction.
  11. Those Weston lakes are loaded. Nice catch.
  12. I have had the same MG, for 14 yrs now. The only thing I have had to change once is the power switch.
  13. I have had the same pair batteries going on 4 yrs now. I kept the maintenance simple. As soon as I get home from a fishing outing, I put the batteries to charge. The day before I go out fishing, I make sure they are fully charged and I frequently check the water levels. Since I have done that, my batteries have been great.
  14. Of course its going to take some time. You just bought the b/c yesterday........ and you probably have been using a spinner for years. Comment again in 3 months of consistent b/c use and then tell what you think.
  15. Managed to go out today for about hour and half. Caught 6, nothing to really big to brag about. It was nice to get out. I caught them on soft plastics, around a canal close to my house.
  16. A-jay and Darren posts were spot on. Follow those guidelines and see what works for you. The only thing I will add, is if you choose to go with a lighter leader lets say less than 10lbs for example. When you detect a strike, you cannot overpower your hookset. You run the risk of snapping the leader. Keep the hookset realistic and don't swing for the fences, that's all I am saying.
  17. I am with the EWG gang. I am not a fan of j-hooks unless I am pitching into cover. I have been fishing Gami's EWG from size 1 to up to 5/0 for years now. Missing a strike will happen regardless of what type of hooks you prefer. That's just a part of fishing.
  18. Best of luck. May you recuperate quickly.
  19. This is a valuable key point in choosing your rod!!
  20. Ooops, this is the actual thread. LOL. My Rage broke a couple of weeks ago. The epoxy around an important component of the reel seat failed which rendered the reel seat useless. My reel came loose and almost fell off on me while I was fighting a fish. Needless to say I was very disappointed, and I sent the rod back to St. Croix, and was able to upgrade into a Legend Tournament Bass for the price of a Carbonlite basically. I have learned from this experience to keep my trim level of St. Croix rods from the Avid on up.
  21. I remember that thread. I actually chimed in. This was before I knew my Rage was going to kick it. LOL.
  22. I happened to go to DSG, yesterday also. With fishing stuff in mind. They had those red label markdowns on several baits. I found some Reaction Innovation Baits called Flirt 6.95. They go for $5 and change and I got two bags of 15 baits for $2.90 something. These baits looked interesting so I am giving them a shot. Also a Booyah pond crasher for $5.99. Let see what happens.
  23. Good to see some people are having luck up north and in Central FL. This weeks weather was crazy, with cold temps and rain. I hope to get out once or maybe twice this weekend and see what I can do. On a side note, I was sharing with MCS, my newest acquisition will be here next week. My froggin rod broke when I was out with LMG last week, so I utilized St. Croix warranty program, and through conversation I was able to upgrade from a Rage to a Legend Tournament Bass. Needless to say, I am very excited to get my hands on this new sweeet rod as my main froggin piece. Good luck this weekend everybody.
  24. The BPS of Dania has whole bunch of them.
