  1. SouthFLBassHunter and I met up and yesterday for a full day of fishing up at Chobee out of Slimm's Conditions: Wind ENE 15-20+ Outside Temps: low-mid 70's, Water Temps: Low: 62.5 High 68 degrees. Partly cloudl. Lake water levels 16.25 ft. We arrived at the ramp by 7:15am, and fished from 7:45am to 4:45pm. Right away we noticed how high the water was from the last time we were here. Our plan was to run out to the main lake and fish in the vegetation, but unfortunately the wind made us change strategy. My little tin and wind just don't mix... lol!! We decided to focus our attention in the 1st and 3 rd cuts. In order to maintain position, I had to deploy my anchor, which helped us work areas thoroughly. Swimbaits were the bait choice of the day. We covered a lot of water and managed to boat 14 fish, and lost as many. In conclusion, overall the conditions were challenging, the fish can still be found. Right now my observations and opinion in regards to our current water conditions in Dade and Broward for boaters is the following: Lox and Lake O are safest bet for fishing. The Glades right now is experiencing severe high water conditions. Fishing in these region will be effected for the next several months.
  2. Actually there was one for the South FL region for a while, unfortunately members come and go and it died down. You only have a handful of consistent members that will submit reports now a days.
  3. SouthFLBassHunter, and I went up to the South end of the Lake yesterday for a whole a day of fishing. The Lake was at 16.25ft. For some of you who familiarized with Slims, and launch from the 2 little ramps. You know that during normal water conditions you have climb the ladder from the dock up or down to your boat. Well... yesterday all I had to do from the bow of my boat is step up to the dock. On a side note... we were able to figure out what the fish were doing and landed 14 LMB... 2nd note.... For those anglers that fish on US 27 between 75 and the Holeylands. The water levels are so bad that in some areas the water is feet from reaching 27. That's not good.
  4. You can set the hook effectively on both lures with a MH. In much thicker stuff you will be better served with a H rod to assist you pulling the fish out of the cover.
  5. If your looking to hunt Peacocks with these they are great baits for them.
  6. Welcome to BR, you may find what your looking for if you do a history search over on the "Other Species" forum. There have been multiple peacock threads moved to that forum
  7. Thanks again for the report George, you caught some great fish. I have always heard about the vultures out on Lox, but never have I seen how destructive they can actually be... wow!!
  8. There are several knots you can tie, and if done correctly they will suit you just fine for frogging, however the loop knot is not one of them. As far as walking a frog, the type of knot you use will not aid you, it's all about having proficiency and experience in the said technique.
  9. The bait you are using has sufficient weight to cast it a country mile. My humble opinion in this situation is you may have to evaluate your reel settings. Assuming you are using a MH to H rod with a X-fast tip.
  10. For open water applications, 40 lb braid will suit your HB frog fishing just fine.
  11. Thanks for the report Big G. Sorry you couldn't stick any today. As long as they keep pumping, we are going to have a long year.
  12. I understand where you are coming from. The miscommunication, I am having with you, is the fact of what a good report entails. I good report provides general location, not specifying exact location. For example, I went to Amelia today and caught a 5lb fish. By a grass line. I didn't say, I caught a 5lbr by the 1st set of soccer fields on the west side of the lake. Also the pic will not show the lake in the backround showing the ski boat. However, a pic of a bass with a little tree in the backround is not giving you away. As far as baits are concerned saying you used a soft plastic is pretty general. I am/was not asking for your "spots" I know this park like the back of hand, I don't need your spots. I will applaud your efforts on keeping the meat hunters away however.
  13. Very convenient response, and I expected this answer. You are very quick to boast your fishing achievements, but til this day 0 reports and or pics. Here is a tip for you in regards to pictures. Don't have the area you don't want to show in the backround. Also, there is a feature on smartphones that allow you to crop your pictures.
  14. When was the last time you were there? And if I fished the park wrong. Please be so kind to enlighten us with a report and pics. I have yet to see one from you since you have become a member on here.
  15. I completely blanked on what this thread is about because this picture is absolutely gorgeous!!
  16. I have been experiencing this problem at local fishing spot of mine for several years now. The fishing has become harder and harder where in years past the fish quality was pretty good. If you have what I call the "meat hunters" coming in, keeping all the fish they catch, and fishing a relatively small body of water at that. Then imho, you're spot may have been fished out. My advice is to find another spot.
  17. Yep... and because of that, the fishing at this park has deteriorated quickly over the years. Even park staff don't know the fishing rules. Lol!!
  18. This is because the topics were not posted in the correct place to begin with. So mgmt is actually doing us favor by moving these threads in the correct forums.
  19. I throw alot of Gambler Big EZ's and EZ swimmers, mainly when I fish on Lake O. Locally however, I haven't had too much success with them compared to other non swimbait baits.
  20. @Dalde003 we were out of there by 330pm. And no I don't drive a big silver truck.
  21. That was pretty cool of you Rick.
  22. I have fished Amelia for more than 18yrs. Sadly, I have seen such a great fishery quickly decline. With the ski boat and water park in place. The remote control hobby boats and meat hunters coming in with their live bait and decimating the fish stocks, the fishing is has gotten to be terrible. I haven't pulled out a decent fish (5lbs +) in more than 6 months. And I fish this park often.
  23. Hey... I was out there in the afternoon too!! I had the same results as you unfortunately. Lol!! I was in the little tracker on the big lake West of the bridge. What boat were you? They weren't that many boats out there so I must have seen you.
  24. I'be been using 15lb Yozuri with very good success lately.
