  1. Here is a curiosity question that hit me today while I was fishing. Let's say just (for pure entertainment only) you come across a "bass genie" and he tells you, you are going to catch the bass of a lifetime on your very next cast, would you take the cast? 98% of me, is leaning towards no. I would not take the cast. The complete element of surprise and suspense of the moment would be taken away from such feat. 2% of me is saying "C'mon its a bass of a lifetime" Thoughts?? .... you can tell fishing was slow today... lol..
  2. LOL.... you are absolutely right what was I thinking... duh
  3. I have both rods as well. I lean toward the dobyns because you have more height options compared to the Avid line. Both are great rods.
  4. Pit Boss, I found fishing to be on the slow side on my neck of the woods too. Although, I managed to land a couple (pics on the Florida thread) using a spinnerbait again, they just seem to be off. Keep plugging away, you will get on them soon. hint... hint... even as early as next weekend.
  5. Just got back from a couple of hours of fishing at canal close to my house. Bite was slow, but somehow convinced these guys to bite. Even an Exotic (Mayan Cichlid) decided to hit. I was using a booyah spinnerbait.
  6. It's creative, but that can't be true. A package has to go through various steps before it's delivered and the thermal package would have been exposed few times over already.
  7. Pretty cool pic, it quickly reminded me of the Fedex logo, and seeing the moving forward arrow. It's right there in front of you but most will miss it.
  8. I use 20lb power pro, with a 10lb yozuri leader.
  9. When LiveTarget first came out with their frogs right after ICAST I was very excited to get my hands on one. When I did it did not disappoint what so ever. However, a little while after another ICAST, the Live Target Mouse was introduced. I was excited to get my hands on one of those as well. That bait disappointed me. The mice do not nearly hold up as well as the frogs do.
  10. Several guys on here live around those parts. When the fishing is hot, that area produces well. You are close to the Jman.
  11. Mine is a no brainer. Love bass fishing, and its my first name.
  12. LOL... it's not like that.... that was the only way I could ID it quickly though. That was good month for both of us. It was in June.
  13. Congrats!! What part of FL are you from Pz3?
  14. Mike, that's the fish I beat you with for Big fish honors for one of the month's. I beat you out by a few ounces. Remember? That one went 7lbs 3 oz if i am not mistaken. The pic I think says the weight.
  15. Check out this pig last year from a canal a block away from my house...
  16. You will definitely go crazy down here. We have miles and miles of fishable canals with some pretty nice fish. 7 -8 lbr's
  17. Thanks Jman, good luck. I have been way past due to catch a real pig. Its been a while.
  18. All this fishing talk made me step out for a bit, and get the line wet at the park. LOL.... Wind was blowing from the East at 15-20 cloudy skies. I took my Lews MG on 30lb braid and 3 ft of 15lb yozuri leader on my Avid 7ft MH rod and starting throwing out the spinnerbait, right below the surface under the wind driven waves. Results: Caught 6, missed 5. My last fish would have been fish number 7, she went for about 3+ lbs but she became miss number 5. Oh well... They aren't pigs, but on a subsurface spinnerbait bite, they are strong violent hits.
  19. I was excited when I picked up a few of these frogs this past summer. I personally was disappointed. Yeah the legs kick, but eh.... It didn't do it for me. Others have had success using them and that's great for them. For me, I have narrowed down my frogs for the time being on Booyah's and LiveTarget's.
  20. 3 ft of leader, you can re-tie 2-3 times.
  21. Jacob is offering some good advice. When I bank fish, I take only one outfit. However, I have it set up so I could fish any way I like whenever the situations call for it. From frog fishing to spinnerbait fishing. Just because I can alternate with a leader or not. Taking more than one outfit with the amount of water that I cover is a pita. That and I fish in urban environments and I don't want to run the risk of one of my outfits getting jacked from me.... LOL.. However from my boat, whole different ball game. I will carry 5 outfits with me.
  22. Bank fishing does have its limitations. Fortunately, for us down here in S. FL. we have miles and miles of canals that can be fished . If you are willing to cover a lot of water you will come across fish. Not all sections of canals are the same. Yes, they are all bowl shape, but the cover and contours change in many areas. Take the time to cover the different levels and you will find what the fish are after. What I mean by that and I think it was Bocabasser who said it best, cover the top water, middle depth, and the bottom. Whichever, level you have success in, you know where to concentrate your efforts.
  23. I agree using braid on the B/c. You can detect bites a lot easier and your hooksets will be solid. Also agree 100% on using leaders in certain situations. You can have the best of both worlds. Fluro will provide the invisibility factor, and braid will provide the enhanced detection and backbone on hooksets. All you have to do now is find the right knot that works for you in joining the 2 lines. I prefer the alberto knot. It has never failed me when done correctly. Also Rick, I will also recommend a MH/F spinning rod. H is just to stiff and heavier.
  24. Congrats, on the switch. You will find over time that the b/c will be the way to go for a lot of your presentations. Enjoy!!
  25. Fishing lately at least for me at Amelia, has been slow. I have caught some nice fish though. One of key things I am finding out, is many of you are going to many places to fish and thats great. It provides you variety. But how many of you really know the spots you are fishing? Can u id what seasonal pattern will work given certain situations. I will use Geo G in this example. I have had the good fortune to fish with him several times at his spots. He can tell you what will/ or will not work at any given point. He also knows just about every nook and cranny of each of his spots. That alone, is priceless info. I beleive to be a good bank fisherman you have to be very observant and establish sound game plans and really get know your spots.
