  1. Here's a couple of bass I caught this late afternoon on the first day of Daylight Savings time. ^^ Nice Piggy ^^ I caught both of these using a spinnerbait again. This time around the spinnerbait didn't break. LOL...
  2. That's a baby jag. I caught one yesterday.
  3. That's a great question, I have always been curious myself.
  4. That possibility always exists. You are limited to your access, and dealing with other bank anglers. If I am not mistaken, the Holeylands as a lot of bank access. I am not 100% sure but you can PM Geo G. He can tell you with more certainty.
  5. Oh yeah... she is still there. Those ponds off the highway hold some sweet bass. The one in my Avatar was caught from one of the ponds off the Turnpike. Unfortunately, right after that pic FHP ran me off saying I couldn't fish there.
  6. It does take some discipline not pulling the trigger when the blow up happens. I had a bad hook up ratio a couple months ago in the glades, but i realized although the strikes were convincing the size of the bass hitting the frog was a different story. They were small bass hitting that frog with all their might. LOL... When the right bass comes along sometimes the blowup is non- existent, that's when you may have a pig on your hands. Every time a bass swims up slowly and slurps the frog, its been a nice pig.
  7. Martin ?? Who's that...... LOL.. I have not heard from Martin in a while. I think he is out fishing today. I also did forget to mention, how snakehead is another exotic that can be eaten.
  8. What pound test are you guys using that keep getting wind knots on your braid? I am leaning towards what you said Hooligan, the small diameter lines could be the culprit. I use strictly 20lbPP with leaders and I never have once come across this problem some of you are having.
  9. The last few weeks I have really been getting into the spinnerbait more so now that I have ever used before. It suits my style of covering water and I find it to be versatile. If I have to slow down which bores me sometimes, the trusty stickbait has been working. Oh... and the fluke is always a favorite as well.
  10. Maybe that could be a factor. I throw with a first gen, Stradic CI4 and a Shimano Sahara. Never had a problem.
  11. Most exotics I have been told taste good. I personally have never tried one, but I have caught several for people. Oscars and mayan cichlids are well liked. Peacocks are said to taste good also, but I don't have the heart to catch one and give it to somebody to eat.
  12. Bass Commander, did you catch her at the small lake off the highway, or in a canal? If its a canal, if she was indeed spawning she may still be there in that area. Work the ledges and use a different bait. If she was cruising the the ledges, she is probably gone. Canals down here are like I-95, bass can come go when they want.
  13. My wife was a participant in a fitness class I was leading at the time. We got to know each other during one of the class breaks, and we found out together that we went to the same high school but our path's never crossed there. Our 13th yr of marriage is coming up this May.
  14. I remember reading somewhere that they are edible. You can look them up on the FWC website, and they will tell you if you can eat them. However... fish from a canal??
  15. Now that's good question Okeechoobee, I don't know. All I know, the reason I have that fish on the fish grip is because it does have some small sharp teeth.
  16. Interesting.... I am the complete opposite. When I used other lines that was not braid, I would get wind knots. Since I made the switch some years ago, to 20lb PP I have yet to have experience a wind knot. Maybe if the braid used is lower in power rating for example 8lb test, then you will be more susceptible to wind knots due to the thin diameter of that line.
  17. Here is the jaguar pic. Sorry it came out so blurry.
  18. After seeing CentralFLBass pics, I couldn't follow that today... LOl... I managed to go out for an hour before sunset, and I was able to catch 4 descent bass on a spinnerbait, and a nice big jaguar. That jag has been my personal best. I will post the pic, but unfortunately it came out blurry.
  19. I wish her a speedy recovery, Snook. Don't worry about the pea's they will just have to get bigger until your able to come down.
  20. OMG!!! You guys have found some awesome fishing holes!! They are narrow canals but they hold some serious fish. WTG!!! The fish your brother caught is absolute pig. Congrats.
  21. Use braid, and you won't get those.
  22. My deepest condolences Bank.
  23. CentralFLBass, to answer your question, we are on a hiatus for the time being.
  24. You bet Caylub. The layout I posted is was what worked for us in FL. The NE group, that NEjitterbug, started, also used a similar system with great success. My tip is find what works for you guys, and go with that. Once the rules are established and everyone follows them, you will all see how fun and competitive such a simple system can be. I am excited for you all. Have fun and good luck. You are in good hands with Caylub...
  25. Yeah, PitBoss, been there done that a few times.... the good news is you have found a lure combo that is working for you.
