  1. Ah... summertime. Fishing can be spotty. Swallow a big patience pill and get out there as much as you can to increase your odds of catching fish. Some people pick up night fishing this time of year because the FL heat can be brutal. Mornings and late afternoons are always the more bearable times this time of year. If you do fish during the day, work cover methodically, and moving water is always a plus.
  2. Ah.... now it all makes sense... thank you for clearing it up. I hope you enjoy the new scale. I hear the berkely's are good scales. Enjoy!!
  3. So i understand, you bought the Berkley digital scale today? Or did you use the berkley scale on yesterday's catch?
  4. You make a good point.... and I also think the new crop of members should familiarize themselves with this site before they post. I know its very exciting to make your very own first post... i know I was... however, if you take a moment to really peruse through the threads you will quickly see all the pinned conversations and recent topics.
  5. Welcome aboard and........ ^^^^^^^^ and what RW said ^^^^^^^^^
  6. Was this the same scale you used for your 15lb catch? I just have to ask....
  7. That's a real nice fish. Did the scale say 7lbs on the nose??
  8. It's all over now..... LOL!!
  9. I have had similar experiences with the LT mouse. I was disappointed from the first day i used them. They cannot handle as near as the abuse a LT frog can handle. I am glad it works for some you.
  10. I find it does. Many years ago all I did was fish with multiple spinning outfits. As time passed curiosity and need to improve my skills as an angler led me to try out a b/c. It was challenging at first and 12 yrs later all but 2 of my outfits are b/c's. Only you will be able to truly answer that question. Many people do just fine with spinner's but I have yet to come across someone who has picked up a b/c, master it , and say they want to go back to spinners.
  11. Now that was funny right there...... because it's in your cat!!!
  12. You know your fishing grounds best. Best of luck.
  13. A fluke. My son is your son's same age. Kids have great imaginations. I would tell my son to work the fluke however he saw fit, and imagine a big fish was coming after his bait and his bait was trying to get away. My son had a blast with that concept and caught himself a mess of bass that day.
  14. Sounds like an awesome outing. Let the spot rest for week??? Go back with the proper tackle, and have fun.
  15. There are quite a few fish in background of that pic. Those days are long gone.
  16. Aerojet is pretty far down South, I have never fished it. I have not heard any reports from that area in quite some time. Since you live in the Kendall area have you maximized the spots in your area. Every time I have been down to Kendall I have seen some nice canals and lakes in different areas. My last bit of advice to you is the following. Never dismiss an area because you never "saw" any big fish around or because you only saw little ones. If I were to see little bass around that would give me clues as far as the moods and patterns of the "bigger" fish. Take the time to learn and understand your fishing grounds. It's easier said than done, I understand that, but a little patience can help you understand the fish you are after.
  17. Amelia holds very nice fish. However, since, it gets alot of fishing pressure, the bigger fish are not going to be easily seen. Especially if u don't, have polarized glasses. You can't go there and expect to know the park. I am still learning things and I have been fishing it for 16yrs. I am not going to tell u my secrets but I will say, really study your cover. Take advantage of the grass and rocks. Goodluck if you fish the park again.
  18. Nice!! Sounds like a wonderful and peaceful day out on the water. You have quite the special place there.
  19. Glad you are enjoying the reel Srome...
  20. Mine is full cork. Works great..
  21. I would go down the checklist. Did you properly adjust the brakes. Both centri and the mag? Did you adjust the tension spool, so that the spool stops moving as soon as it touches the ground? If you properly adjusted everything and you are still backlashing, then I would venture to guess that the braid could be the culprit. 20lb braid is very thin on a b/c and can be digging into the spool, causing you to backlash. It happens. Hope the info helps.
  22. Caught this nice 21"r at the park today. The fish were pretty active today. Caught 6. The weather was helpful. Overcast with a breeze from the SE.
  23. It was delicious!! Nothing beats freshly caught fish.
  24. This guy at the park, was watching me fish, then struck up a conversation with me, where he then proudly took out his cell phone and showed me a pic with beautiful LMB all on a rope stringer hauled off. When I told him if he was aware he was breaking the law, he was aloof. Fortunately, he caught them in some other lake down South somewhere. But even at the park, people have their stringers of nice bass completely unaware/caring that there are laws in place.
