  2. Nice fish, good work.
  3. Dobyns are great rods. I own couple a Savvy and Champion.
  4. I love my Hawtech's, especially on my frogging outfit. Those long handles provide me with right amount of torque i need to wrestle the bass out of the thick stuff.
  5. Um...... yeah. If the $$ is there I highly recommend those two rods.
  6. Tools that I carry with me while bank fishing are as follows: cellphone, rag, pliers, scale, ruler. On my boat: that's a whole other thread.... lol.
  7. Congrats NE !!
  8. The canal that runs to the North, is called the Miami canal.
  9. Thanks for the report George. Yesterday was nice that's for sure.
  10. I guess I have been fishing braid so much I am immune to the sound.....
  11. Bracing is just a band aid. Bracing will give a supported feeling, however they are making the muscles lazy. Unless your situation has become very chronic then I would look into bracing. Here is a website I quickly found that can be a start for you. http://www.hughston.com/hha/a.seven.htm Look into the exercise before you decide to begin bracing.
  12. Since we can't see your biomechanics, we will not be able to properly tell you if your fishing the jerkbait correctly. What I can tell you is, if your wrist is just sore without lingering pains or swelling than you may have not developed tendonitis yet. If you have developed these symptoms then you may have developed some tendonitis and you may have to take a break for a week or so and ice with mild stretching. The tendonitis will usually present itself on your elbow most of the time. Hence "fisherman's elbow" aka tennis elbow or lateral epicondylitis. Trust me you don't want that. I personally battled with this for 2 yrs and it can be debilitating. If this technique is new to you, then use the technique for shorts bouts instead of long bouts. Take breaks often. Over time you will develop the endurance. Also you may want to look at your gear and maybe lighten it up or make sure its properly balanced. Lastly, ask a fellow angler that has experience with this technique to evaluate your form and maybe give you some feedback on correcting your technique a bit. Maybe some or all of these factors maybe your culprit. Best of luck, if you are not finding any remedy, send me a PM and I could go into further detail. I am not pulling the information out of the air. My profession and backgound is in Exercise Physiology and I have dealt with these similar types of issues before.
  13. It's time to find a 5-6lb dumbbell and start doing reverse wrist curls. Strength training will help your fishing endurance.
  14. Congrats, one of the most addicting techniques.
  15. Given the choice a boat all the time. However, when pressed for time bank fishing wins.
  16. Frogs and zoom speed worms works for me.
  17. May he rest in peace.
  18. Solid fish, nice!!
  19. I can only begin to imagine how dealing with 8 children must be. I have 2 kids and they can be challenging enough on some days. I hope you get your kids' stuff resolved soon.
  20. We are just trying to help the man. We have tried on repeated occasions to convey this message.
  21. Yes my tetanus is up to date. Hook in my thumb followed up with a trip to the ER 2 yrs ago.
  22. Where you step. I went fishing at local canal yesterday close to home. As I was walking along casting to spots along the bank, I feel this go through my shoe!! The spike went through my shoe and slightly broke the skin between one of my toes. For a split moment I thought it went through my foot. To my relief it didn't. Some genius in their infinite wisdom designed this thing with a 4inch spike taped at the end of a broken 4 ft piece of PVC. I was upset at myself for not seeing it and more upset that someone would carelessly discard something this dangerous. Lesson learned.
  23. From what I have been told from seasoned Shimano users is that the Chronarch 50 is great reel.
  24. For a while, yrs ago, I used size 1 EWG Gami's. They worked great. I used them for what I now know is finesse applications. I also use them on smaller flukes. You have to be a line watcher when using these hooks or you are going to get a lot of practice removing gut hooked fish.
  25. I have been hooked pretty good in 3 separate occasions. Only 1 required an ER visit. I would have to say my scariest experience that I can remember happened when I was little kid. I had this habit to stand behind my Dad when he would cast. He told me repeatedly not to do that. In one of our outings he was fishing with a mirror lure jerkbait and I walked up behind him while he was casting. One of the trebles caught me below the eye, above my cheek. Both my parents were flipping out, but luckily my Dad removed the hook safely and all I had was a little red spot. Lesson learned. Fast forward 30 yrs, I make sure my kids stand to my right (since I am left handed) when I cast. My ER visit was 2 yrs ago. A small Rapala treble hooked into my thumb and I couldn't remove it. Dr had to.
