  1. I saw bass spawning this past Sunday, in one of my local canals. We just a came out of a tiny cold front in conjuction with the full moon. It was pretty neat, you could see the male rubbing along the female to drop her eggs.
  2. Yeah..... anything less than 50lbs in that and your left scratching your head.
  3. Swimjigs. I know its just a matter of time before I catch a bass on one of these, but I have had no luck yet.
  4. Thanks for the tip. For pea's all I have to do is walk 1 block from my house and catch some decent ones if i wanted to.
  5. They should, but i have not heard of peacock being caught out of there in quite sometime.
  6. Several years ago, peacock's were all over the alley and US 27. After the freeze of 09-10 they were killed off.
  7. Look over your manual and they advise you on this. You have to make sure the brake drum is cleaned and lightly oiled after frequent use. If you fail to do that, the screeching will begin. I know its annoying but other than that its a pretty good reel.
  8. It's great to hear that peacock's are making a come back. Our last big freeze in 09-10 really affected the peacock populations. Now if they could make a comeback in the glades that would be really fun. I still remember those days.
  9. Now that is a pretty cool catch. Is that what they also call a "knife fish" ??
  10. Goodluck Backlash. I feel for you bud. After speaking to my Dr, after my procedure, I actually had 2 stones that were right next to each other. Doc said I never would have passed them because my ureter's are thin. Fortunately, I found out the reason I developed my stones, and fingers crossed that NEVER happens again.
  11. That may be so, next time you come down to FL see if you can take trip down to fish the glades, you will look at your 20lb braid and remember this conversation.
  12. Weld's you stay down here in FL a few weeks out of the year don't you? I have seen the pics from where you have landed some of those nice bigger bass. Would you be 100% comfortable frog fishing in some of that nasty stuff that bass love to call home without braid? If your answer is yes, then by all means use the heavier FC, but if your answer is no. Then throw at least 40-50lb braid and you don't run the risk of having your heart broken when frog fishing. Just saying.
  13. I am curious during my Glade outings how many boaters I come across that are part of the different forums I am associated with. I am sure that I have come across several you over the years.
  14. That's a nice pea right there. Guesstimate or scaled 7lbs? Either way, to target them i usually fish some sort of jerk bait. I can't help you in regards to palm beach, I have heard however, that the Lake Ida chain of lakes are having a good rebound of pea's. I know down here in Dade-County there are pea's just about in every canal. Just yesterday alone I saw about 4 nice one's.
  15. That could have been one heck of typo. Remove the "i" and you have Patents. That makes a whole lot of sense when dealing with generic drugs.
  16. Congrats Mike. This is the season were you start posting big bass pics. Last year it was Lox, this year your throwing in Lake O pigs. Your on fire dude!! WTG!!
  17. Wow... Backlash, you experienced "some pain" and passed a kidney stone later in the day!! Heck three years ago had "some back pain" and I ended up in the hospital. LOL... A week later I needed surgery to breakdown the stone. Fortunately, you were able to pass yours. I do not want to experience that ever again!!
  18. I agree with this. Fish the lightest you can get away with. Since the majority of my fishing will be considered shallow. The weights that i use really depend on the the amount of wind present. I will throw anywhere from 1/32-1/4 max for t-rig fishing. I will go a little heavier for jigs.
  19. The good news is all hooksets are free. Better to set at something you thought you felt or saw than miss the big one and not setting at all.
  20. Here is a great book that will be a valuable resource tool for you. http://www.amazon.com/Bass-Forever-Glen-Lau/dp/0984577181
  21. Pressured lakes does require a different approach. The fish have seen many baits and hesitant to take it at times. You have present as natural as possible. What I mean by that for example look at a t-rig bait. I would use the least amount of weight and hook as necessary. In my case, i fish a highly pressured park lake. i may have to throw a t-rig with 1/32 oz bullet weight with a 1/0-2/0 hook just to intrigue a fish. Depending on the mood of the fish I may have to fish structure very slow or very fast to get a reaction or predatory strike. Be patient, and try different approaches until you find a system that works for those waters. Best of luck, it can be pretty challenging.
  22. Welcome aboard, fellow Floridian....
  23. Now that's an absolute slob!! WTG!! Congrats!!
