  1. If an avid is on the table, I would go with that. Great rod. 7 ft MH.
  2. I need to oil mine because I am using it consistently for 7 hrs straight. The constant casting and retrieving shows. Besides if I want my reel operating as good as the last trip a little oil seems to do it some good. This is my frogging outfit. I work this reel pretty hard when I am using it. For other techniques i may agree. But not for this one.
  3. That's a nice find. Pretty shallow too.
  4. Oh.. so is that one worm? Or two halves?
  5. How are the senko's held in place? Glue? Let us know how that bait works out.
  6. Very nice reel. Jump on that deal.
  7. Sounds like a plan.
  8. Welcome to BR. I remember your post on the other forum very well, I go under a different screen name there. Did you ever call Tracker to verify if what you want to do can be done? They will be the best source to provide you with the info you are looking for.
  9. What's up Cutler Jay its been awhile!!
  10. The heavy cover that I fish in can consist of pads, grass, sunken tree branches and rock. Sometimes all those variables are in just one location! I throw 50lb braid for the most part depending on application.
  11. Right now I have: 2 Dobyns and 3 St. Croix rods. Reels: I have 2 Lews, 2 Shimano's and 1 Abu.
  12. ^^^^^ This right here^^^^^
  13. I really enjoy longer handles but now I REALLY enjoy longer handles since i got couple of HawgTech's 102mm swept handles.
  14. Every once in a blue moon I harvest bass for people if requested. I keep the catches well within the harvesting limits as far as size and number's kept.
  15. Wow... some pretty insightful words have been shared on this thread so far. As far as what rod position to use when fishing, I have learned this through experience over years on the water be it on bank or boat. I have learned overpowering a fish due to excitement or poor judgement can lead to losing plenty of fish. I have also learned that allowing a fish to jump excessively will increase the fish's odds of throwing the hook. So I like to keep its head down as much as possible. Sometimes keeping the rod really high and reeling very fast can give you the advantage of working a very nice fish out of some nasty cover where you will other wise have definitely run the risk of losing it. Trusting your equipment to do the job that they were designed to do vs you doing all the muscle work yourself. Knowing when a fish is swimming towards at a high speed and figuring out how to get the upper hand in this situation. These and bunch of other things you will figure out in trial and error fishing than watching someone do it imho. You can watch and study someone ride a bike, but if you don't get on the bike and experience it for yourself, everything you watched and observed will not make sense.
  16. I have been having the same experience in canals the last few months. Out in the Everglades though different story all together.
  17. Oh man, we just missed each other. However I was really close. I just launched right over where the construction of the new flood station is being done at the entrance of Holeylands.
  18. It was a great day indeed George!!
  19. Finally got out to the glades today. Went out to 2 places actually. Our first stop was the Holeylands where I met up with Big G for a little while. (It's always nice hanging with you George). My BIL and I fished at the HL's from 830 to 11:30am. I did manage to land a nice 19" bass and a few more fish but ultimately decided to move over to the US 27 finger channels. Once we arrived on 27 I landed a 5.5lb 21" right off the bat. We fished til about 5:15pm. Overall it was great day. Beautiful weather clean water and some nice fish. We landed a total of 24 bass. Here are some pics of the nicer fish of the day.
  20. Hey Welds, if it makes you feel any better I will be fishing the glades tomorrow. High of 80, winds from the NE 5-10. That's what is waiting for you in December. Maybe a tad cooler than 80 though.
  21. I have both the Curado I and the TTPro. Both are great reels. The only difference between the two for the moment, is that I have to do a minute bit of maintenance on the Curado after each outing. And when I mean minute it just means that I have to lightly oil the brake drum on the Curado. Is it a deal breaker? Eh... depends on you. I don't mind it I just have to be conscious about it. Casting performance is effected a little bit when that light oiling is not done. So far I have not done anything to the TTPRO yet, and its performing really well. Maybe those tidbits of info will help. Good luck on your choice. You will enjoy either reel imho.
  22. Yeah, fishing nice waters steps form your home sure beats getting in your car and driving out to fish. Look into what SoFLBassAddict said. Look into your HOA policy. I don't understand why you can't fish there if your a resident.
  23. Your the "the man" now but its only going to be a matter of time at this pace before you become "da man" WTG Mike.
  24. Welcome to the forums. Its unfortunate that you can't fish your association's lake. Those lakes can hold some very good fish. The good news is however, there are plenty of spots in South Broward. There are canals galore with bank access. Another option is studying Google Earth for your area. Several nugget spots can be found. Goodluck.
  25. When I am bank fishing I only use one outfit. Walking around with more than that is just a pita for me. I take one outfit that can handle multiple applications. When I am on my boat I carry five. Why? ,because they stay next to me the whole time I fish and are convenient to access quickly if needed. I can throw multiple applications that are assigned to specific rods and not have to spend time second guessing decisions.
