  1. Nah... since i got kicked out, i will not argue with law enforcement. With my luck i will be ticketed or fined next time... lol
  2. The one on my avatar pic was caught in a retention pond off the turnpike. Shortly after that pic was taken FHP kicked me out. That was an awesome outing. I pass by that pond a couple times a month looking at spot i caught it at every time... lol!!
  3. I have two of the HG's. They are really good reels. Palm well, very strong drag, on the light side. Very simple to use. I set two of the brakes and I have forgotten about them ever since. Both reels have braid, and they can cast pretty dang far with the right bait. To give you an example, one of my outfits is strictly used for frog fishing in the Everglades. I have it on a Dobyns champion 736. I can launch a medium LT Koppers hollow body frog with 50lb braid for 45+ yards. Throw in a pair of HawgTech's with swept handles, and you have yourself a pretty good reel for under $180 if you know where to look. I got both of mine for $150. The only con, and its not really a con just a maintenance thing, on every couple of outings after heavy use, you might want to clean and oil the drum of the braking system as per the instructions. If you do that, your reel will perform well for you. Good luck on your decision.
  4. Jump on that invitation. You guys are fortunate to be fishing the small lakes and golf courses you have access to.
  5. You are going to get bombarded with recommendations, i just wanted to say after your 1st frog catch, bass fishing will never be the same again. Good luck!!
  6. Nice fish!! 6lbs + for sure. Very nice girth and thick jaws.
  7. Best of luck C&G. Staph infections can be very dangerous. I hope it all goes well for you.
  8. You have a difficult decision before you. I can see how you might regret your choice. However, not giving it your all is also letting your team down. Ultimately, you know what's best. You're a young man and you are going to experience many challenging decisions. Right or wrong you have to live it up to those decisions. I coached h.s. sports for a little while and i can tell you, as a coach, i will respect an athlete if they share with me that there heart is not in the game anymore, vs playing or competing half ass. This will be hard choice,i will not lie to you. Listen to your heart. If the feeling isn't there anymore then you know what you have to do. I wish you the best of luck.
  9. Welcome. That's a nice reel. If you offshore fish the first thing that came to my mind was oooooooh a yellowtail snapper reel. I looked at the specs, can you bass fish with this set up? Yes. Without a doubt. Is it ideal? Not really, imho. I think the weight of that reel will effect you during a long outing. Again, that's just me. You might pull it off for long excursions. Good luck, and welcome to BR.
  10. I am glad the info helped. My boat came with 12 volt system which I have til this very day. The only time I have had a battery issue is when a previous battery was not holding a charge well after 6+ yrs of svc. Keep in mind, my previous TM was a 42lb 5 speed MG, on a 24 series battery with 0 electronics. I ran this way for 14 yrs. Now I have the 55# MK variable speed which after 8hrs on 27 series battery the battery is only at 50%. Now I also just included a fishfinder off the same battery, so we'll see what the charge looks like at the end of the day. Any other questions just let me know.
  11. I have a 1999 Tracker Proteam 165, with a 2000 25HP motor. I am the original owner. I just recently added a 55# MK variable TM. Does the boat have its pro's and con's. Yes. Con's, its not a speed demon that's for sure. Top speed is a whopping 18-20MPH. However it drafts shallow. That's an advantage during low water conditions. Its not a wide boat, but 2 people can fish comfortably. Stability? Not the best or the worst. Storage? Not whole heck of alot. But i have adapted. As far as standing or sitting. I stand 100% of the time while fishing. There's not that much walking room in the front, but again i have adapted to the narrow space. Its light to trailer and transport and easy on the gas. I have a 13 gallon tank and i don't travel long to my fishing grounds. Over the years i have learned to appreciate my boat. I have been slowly upgrading things here and there. One i mentioned already, TM. I am having a Lowrance Elite 4x fish finder installed tomorrow, and my next major upgrade will be buying a 40HP motor. My boat is perfect for the type of fishing and time i use it for. Its low maintenance and easy to handle. Best of all its paid for.... lol.
  12. You definitely hooked up with some great bass Weld's. By the video's and commentary you had a blast on your trip with us in South Florida. The lake your family member resides at is definitely a gem. Not all area's are producing the quality of bass you were catching right now. Nonetheless, you had a special trip and made a new friend. Maybe we will see more reports from you in the summer. Take care, and til next time.
  13. Interesting point of view. My interaction with airboats are limited to times when I go fishing. Yes, I see them often. I definitely hear them, but I never thought about " what if I lived close to them" . I am sure my perspective would change if I am consistently hearing them at all hours of the night especially early, early mornings when I am trying to sleep. Just for the sake of discussion, couldn't the same argument be brought up for residence's all around landing and take off patterns for international and regional airports? I visited people and my own wife works 3 or so miles from MIA Int'l airport, where you are consistently hearing and seeing commercial jets taking off and landing overhead. Is it noisy? Heck yeah. Are there pollution factors? For sure. However, at certain point you wash out and adapt to what's happening overhead. At least, I did and I am sure several hundred's of thousands of people have. Again, this was just for the sake of discussion.
  14. Airboats to me is synonymous to the Everglades. I see countless amounts of airboats when I fish in the glades. I have ridden on them once. The way I view them is that they are a mode of transportation to navigate in swamp lands that are other wise unreachable besides helicopter. Down here in South FL, Fire rescue and FWC airboats have saved many people from plane crashes to strandings.
  15. Mature males get the lumps on their heads.
  16. Thanks Dwight, i guess we can call it even since i have yet to catch a DD Bass!! Lol... Merry Christmas.
  17. Santa brought me a Go Pro Hero, I don't think I need a pic, we all have seen what Go Pro's look like. I am super excited to begin posting video's. These little HD camera's are so versatile.
  18. In the freshwater variety, the peacock bass no doubt. Very tough mofo's
  19. Hello all, wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas South Fl fashion. Have a safe and wonderful Christmas. Caught this pretty one earlier this afternoon
  20. Welcome from another fellow Floridian.
  21. When I had a Gen 3 STX, the thumbar did get discolored a bit. Not a big deal, I think it adds a character to the reel. LOL.... It's good reel, I got rid of it for reasons of my own. However it stayed close to home. I gifted it for Xmas to my BIL and he fell in love with it.
  22. I walk alot when I bank fish. I cover alot of water, if the urge to sit down enters my mind its time to go home. Now if a person is live bait fishing with worms and such then I could see how a chair will be helpful. I see it all the time.
  23. Out in the glades i fish on my boat. I just didn't have the touch yesterday. Lol..
  24. Congrats. You must be on cloud nine right now... lol
