  1. Fellow BR member SirSnookalot, would be my go to in this dept. He surf fishes practically every day. He can lead you in the right direction. Good luck.
  2. Darren, I just came across this thread. So sorry to hear about your Mom. Sending well wishes your way.
  3. Nice fish. Congrats. FishBaller gave you some good advice about utilizing drag correctly.
  4. It could also be that your line was worn from the other bass. Did you retie at any point during your outing? Also sounds like your drag was too tight. Tough loss either way.
  5. Change colors. I would lean towards a darker shade. That might fix your problem. They are basically just bumping your current frog. However by tomorrow that could change. Good luck.
  6. To the OP, considering the applications you would like to use the reel for I would consider: Shimano's Curado I HG, CH 200E7 or Lews: TP1 SH. I fished the 3G Revo STX for 2 seasons, but ultimately I didn't like it. Ergonomics suited me, handled ok, castability was ok, but it was the geary sound that really turned me off. Petty? Maybe. But its my opinion. I recommended the higher speed ratio's because if you are going to use a buzzbait, the higher ratio will help keep those blades on top of the water with less winding. And, if you need a slower presentation, just slow down. Best of luck on your choice.
  7. Thanks. I am showing him early on to respect the sun.
  8. Took a trip to MM35 yesterday and fished the Miami Canal with my 8yr old son and my BIL. Wind was from the East 15-18MPH, Water temps was 87-88 degrees, water was lightly stained with 6-8ft visibility. We launched at 930am and fished til 6:30pm. Boat traffic was minimal considering it is a Holiday weekend, and everyone cleared out by 2pm. We were solo out there for 4 hrs. We were fortunate enough to boat 56 bass and 90% of them were caught using frogs. The majority of the fish ranged from 4lbs - 2lbs. The highlight of my day was when my son caught and landed a 3lb 18" bass all by himself. I was so proud him. He was impatient and frustrated some of the time because he wasn't catching as many fish as he would have of liked, and at around 5pm he caught his second wind and was hell bent on catching a nice fish. Well.... I am very excited to say his perseverance paid off.... The old man managed to catch himself a nice bass too..... but it paled in comparison to watching my boy do his thing and catch a nice bass for himself. I can proudly say that I am lucky DAD!!
  9. Very nice!! WTG!!
  10. I will be on the alley tomorrow. Can't wait, haven't fished for a while.
  11. Congrats on your trip. I am happy South Fl didn't disappoint.
  12. If he got that fish officially verified and weighed, he broke the state record for Fl. Beautiful fish.
  13. Awesome congrats!! Nice chunk right there!!
  14. Congrats on your purchase. Enjoy!!
  15. You might be thinking a fiberglass model. Tracker has always had wood decks as far as I can remember, and I think they always will. Aluminum decks although they have advantages will effect cost. Tracker sells a lot of boats. I think the aluminum will effect their bottom line. Wood is cheaper. Just my opinion.
  16. I am little biased on this one. Born and raised in South Florida. Freshwater and Saltwater fishing can be done on the same day a few miles apart. Water sports/recreation galore. Beaches on all 3 sides of the state. It's a fisherman paradise for sure.
  17. Grouper, yellowtail snapper, Mutton snapper, Mahi (aka: dolphin). Gotta love South Florida!!
  18. Following the suggestion that comes in the box will avoid the issue of the screeching. Now that I know my reels are prone to this I make sure the brake drum is lightly oiled on a consistent basis. Problem solved. Minor if any inconvenience for me.
  19. That's too bad SNOOK. I kicked over a rod and reel off my boat by mistake once. Like they say S!#T happens.
  20. I catch several a year when going after LMB in the Everglades.
  21. With 150 HP the price tag keeps it at a minimum 25K. After you put on the proper TM and change out the battery system to 24 volt the price tag jumps up a little bit more. Throw in some good electronics and power poles, 30K easy. Crazy I know.
  22. Burn them on top of the water over some vegetation and hold on tight to your rod!!
  23. Just go fishing with it and the water will take care of the rest. Mine do that all the time. No big deal.
