  1. Direct tie, and the drag adjusted accordingly if you are going to throw it with braid. I also hope this lure can stand up to punishment, because it comes with a hefty $$ tag. Fingers crossed a bow fin (mudfish) doesn't get its jaws on it.
  2. I don't get on my boat without one. Besides the sun protection, buffs protect from bugs and mosquitoes too.
  3. Another nice pig 00. Congrats!! .... and yes, I know exactly what your saying about the adrenaline after you land a very nice catch.
  4. Thank you for the report. I haven't heard a report come out of that area for a while. Glad you were able to stick some fish.
  5. South Florida Water Mgmt website. Good luck interpreting the data though.
  6. Thanks for the report guys!! Way to stick some fish, despite the conditions.
  7. ^^^ This sentence right here is awesome!! ^^^ LOL!!!
  8. I been fishing PP for years, I haven't had a real reason to switch honestly. All braids fade. Never understood what the big deal is when guys say it fades quickly. To the OP, if you are finding that your PP braid is fraying a lot, I would bet its because of the cover your throwing in. Unless you have had the same spool of braid on for a couple years or the spool has run down, will I find the need to re-spool.
  9. Welcome to BR, happy you joined the sport. Take a moment and advantage on what this site has to offer. In your case, go over to the article and video section. There is TONS of information available that will steer in the right direction on how to get started. I'm not going to lie to you. This time of year is the most challenging for us in FL. Although challenging, its not impossible to find fish. Options for you down here in SFL are: fishing at night, fish early morning or late afternoon, during the day fish slow and/or around thick cover. I know this may not be specific enough for you, but taking this advice in conjunction with the articles and videos the site has to offer, will definitely help you land a very nice fish or two. Best of luck to you.
  10. Let the fish be your guide. Start slow if you want, and if nothing is happening after a while, pick up the cadence. If you still haven't been looked at after a while, you have a decision to make. Stick with the frog, or switch baits.
  11. Since I don't get to go out to often, beggars can't be choosers, so I catch what I can get... lol!!
  12. Now that's a good one... good ole branch fish!!
  13. Hooksets are free, and distinguishing between bass and vegetation will lower the chances of a phantom hooksets... now thin submerged tree limbs... those get me more than I care to admit... lol!!
  14. Welcome to BR, your relatively new here, all you had to do was click this thread and your question would have been answered. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/165790-the-best-rod-thread/
  15. Senko Lover said it... take off that Fluro. That's one of your culprits right there. Go with a minimum of 40lb braid. 50lbs is ideal on casting outfits.
  16. It's hot, no denying that... but if you find the cover, you will find the fish. Punch through it, on top of it, or along side of it. Good luck!! Deep isn't necessary the answer. Nice thick green vegetation will offer 2 important things, shade and oxygen.
  17. Thank you for mentioning these anchors. They will be my next anchoring system.
  18. Tell you what George, he definitely will not be opening up on LOX with the posted limit of 35 mph.... lol!!
  19. ^^^ This X3 ^^^ I'm not the handy type, especially when working with broken rods, but even I have done this a couple of times... Very...very... easy to do.
  20. I was one of the individuals that had issues with the Rage series when they first came out, I switched over to the Legend tournament series, and never looked back. The LTB's are great rods.
  21. The Zara spook I would say is a good learning bait. Imho, it's a foundation lure that will teach how to walk baits. You walk a spook, you can walk every other bait that can be walked.
  22. That's a beauty right there, congrats!
  23. The hitchhiker fell off on that one, or someone took them all off. Those hooks come with hitchhikers already on them. But like Torn Thumb mentioned, you can buy them.
  24. Interesting post from the OP. The majority of the anglers in the SE states have to stop fishing for bass then. Water temps are over 85 degrees at night and 90's during the day. I agree that during the summer a higher degree of care must be taken because of stress on the fish, but based on the message in this post, I won't be able to fish for several months.... smh... not happening.... lol
