  1. I don't think your fish's weight issue has anything to do in regards to his lost eye.
  2. A buddy of mine recently showed a pic of a couple of his family members fishing in a river out by country side in Cuba. They had some beautiful bass on that stringer. They live with a different set of rules down there, so you know where those bass were headed.
  3. I saw this clip the other day. Those 2 are extremely lucky!!
  4. I tie the alberto often. I have had breakoffs but it wasn't because of bad knot. It was because I failed to inspect the line. The cover I was fishing frayed the knot over time. I don't leave an alberto tied for too long. I will cut and retie either every other outing or on the same outing depending on how much fish and cover I have been fishing in.
  5. Yozuri could be found in Walmart. As far as scissors. While you are at Walmart, walk over to the school supply section and get a pair of Fiskar kid scissors. They work great for braid and other lines. Better yet. They run $2.
  6. I also use the 94mm handle for my lighter techniques. For my H techniques I use the 102mm. Talk with Mike and Rob over at Hawgtech they will give you the low down.
  7. To the OP, based on the techniques you are throwing, although I have thrown braid for a while on a spinner, I have gravitated back to using Copoly lines for finesse type of techniques. 10lb youzuri to be exact. I treat the line with conditioner often and the line lasts me a long while. YZ has great abrasion resistance, and its a very strong limp line. I still love braid do not misunderstand me, however I am learning that each type of line has there place and time, imho. If I were to return to braid for my spinning use, I would throw Power Pro 15-20lbs.
  8. Rod and Reel......duh.... I just mentioned my reel. Lol... As far as the rod that I use for all three techniques mentioned would be the Dobyns Champion 736. For H rod its light, and has one heck of a backbone to boot. Paired with the Curado I, balances perfectly well. Anything I stick with that rod is going to lose. Gators included.
  9. 4th Quarter 2015. Its not like I have been researching already..... Rotfl!! Also around 12 color combinations. And... 2 sizes
  10. Retails for $13.50. It's pricey but it looks sooooo goooood!!!!
  11. Senkolover, thanks for this post.
  12. The reel that has accomplished all those techniques for me has been the Curado I HG, with a hawgtech handle. The reel is affordable and its a work horse.
  13. This bait caught my attention. LiveTarget comes out with interesting top water stuff every few yrs.
  14. Darren I went ahead and just ordered a trough by Frabill. It floats, its adjustable, and it ran me $13 from Amazon with free shipping.
  15. Good to know. I don't have a yak, but the concept of the trough is appealing. I see it secures the fish better than a regular ruler.
  16. Thanks Hanover_Yakker, based on the pic I was able to find the company that makes that particular trough. Thanks again.
  17. That's a great fish!! Congrats. Quick question, where did you get that measuring device? I like the concept.
  18. Best of luck on your clean up efforts. From what I have seen, many people have been affected by this flood.
  19. Sorry to hear about the flooding you are going through. On a funny note. You mentioned a video, the icing on the cake would be if you caught a fish while flipping in your house.....
  20. Sounds like a knot issue.
  21. Once again Bravo!! Do you only catch big fish???.... geesh. At least post a little one every once in a while so you can show your human..... lol!! Great job Big O.
  22. You will be surprised how shallow anglers are punching in. If the mat is thick and well insulated bass will under it. The depth's are not as deep as you may think.
  23. It happens. Sucks... no doubt about it. Move on. Sometimes these things happen. I keep the fish and give it to a bucket fisherman. The fish will not go to waste.
  24. I use a $7 Chubbs lanyard for yrs now.
