  1. That's great CS right there. I had a couple of issues of my own with a different series of rod and my upgrades were for LTB's as well. A-Jay I don't think you will be disappointed with LTB's. They are a tad tip heavy but are great rods nonetheless.
  2. I have several copies. I don't see why they will hassle you. The bar code doesn't change when you make copies.
  3. Your question is a great one. To answer your first question, no you cannot change the side the handle is on. That's a spinning reel characteristic. As far as which reel you should get? I happen to be a natural lefty. So right handed reels are ideal for me by coincidence. My fighting arm or rod arm is my left arm, and my non-dominant hand handles the reel. This makes perfect sense to me, however others use their dominant hand to reel and non-dominant arm to handle the rod. Only you will find out what should work for you.
  4. I have been receiving good reports from the alley. Lox reports have been quiet lately.
  5. That's an awesome Froggin Day!! Congrats!!
  6. Best of luck on your new rage rod. Hopefully yours holds up a lot better than mine did.
  7. There is learning curve when you transition from the bank to a boat. Fishing mechanics are obviously the same however the difficulty of casting can change. For example, casting under docks or trees. That takes some practice. Look for places that look fishy that are not accessible from the bank. For example, pad fields, timber and grass. As far as electronics. That's your call. I have electronics, but the water's i fish are shallow, using electronics the majority of the time is not necessary.
  8. This movie was entertaining, that's for sure.
  9. I had a Rage for 2 active seasons. I used the rod for my frogging applications. During one of my outings the glue around the reel seat area became undone rendering fastening down the reel futile. I was very disappointed, and upgraded to an LTB. Have not looked back since.
  10. I agree with this. Cuba may have/or had a great LMB fishery, but those fish are not caught and released, that's for sure.
  11. I use a Curado I HG. This reel has 30 IPT.
  12. Sounds like its time to learn how start punching. Get yourself a smaller profile creature bait, a stout flipping hook, 1-1.5oz Tungsten flipping weight, and lastly a weight stopper. Make sure you have a H rod, and 65lb braid. When you stick a pig you are going to know right away!! Goodluck!!
  13. That was funny. Losing your setup on a hookset twice in one day is unbelievable.
  14. I was thinking about the same thing this morning. LOL.... I would be in trouble because my scale only goes to 12lbs. Assuming I had a scale with a heavier capacity, I would have to film the experience with my gopro. Film the scale measurements, the length, and the girth. Like someone mentioned, start making phone calls is another option. But, what if your in the middle of nowhere? Tough situation that's for sure.
  15. That thing looks crazy!! That being said, I want one!! Rotfl!!
  16. LOL!! It's my home away from home. I love that area. I wish I could fish it more. I am happy you got to experience a hot bite. That area is very special when you what you're doing.
  17. If there is one thing that Dade and Broward Counties do not have a shortage of are canals. Parking is never a problem. Just don't pull off on the side of a busy road. As far as fishing alone. I canal fish 99.5% of the time by myself. Have been since I was kid. Here are few tips. Always be aware of your surroundings. Keep your head on a swivel. Watch for snakes, harmful debris like glass, nails, etc. Always tell someone the area you are going to be fishing. As far as people. They will appear out of the blue sometimes, but thankfully for me after all these yrs I have had 0 issues. Oh.. last thing. Watch your footing. The banks sometimes give way while you step. That's always fun. It's happen to me several times. Not fun!!
  18. LOL!! I knew it!! The sound of plane overhead on one of the clips helped confirmed the area.
  19. Viewing the video, looks like you guys had a great time. I love the Glades. I am so fortunate to have such a great fishery so close to me. Listening to the background noise and seeing some of the weirs, it looks like you guys were fishing alligator alley.
  20. Thanks for the update. Enjoy your new reel!!
  21. I don't know how it is in your part of the country. Many of our parks down here in South FL are equipped with early warning lightening detection systems. Besides speaking with the Coach, I think you should also speak with the Parks and Recreation Director as well to look into those Early Detection Systems.
  22. How does this reel handle lighter applications? Heavier lure applications will always cast very far and showcase the reels casting distance. I am really curious how this reel handles the lighter stuff.
  23. If we happen to hold the next world record of LMB, it will be caught in waters North of Lake O up to Northern Florida. South of Lake O its not happening. We don't have the environment to sustain a teener. The heat, and shallow water wreaks havoc on the fish's metabolism.
  24. Cool way to commemorate your accomplishment. Please tell me that reel can be retreived. That part I don't get.
