  1. I enjoy Mikey's videos. I really enjoy the sound tracks he has them embedded with. Lol... Not only does he show how to punch, he also shows you the tackle he using and why.
  2. Sounds to me you better download a weather app asap. I personally use weatherbug elite. This app also has a sub-app called spark. This program shows you in real time how far and where the lightening has been striking, as well as the direction of where the storm is heading. We have the technology, use it. Lightening is nothing to mess with.
  3. With the little tank experience I have, what I did learn is make sure the fish you place in the tank will play nice with each other. I forget the name of the fish I had once, this individual fish was notorious of literally running fish out of the tank. Next morning, we would find fish lying on the floor. Crazy stuff. Good luck.
  4. I have been good, welcome back to FL.
  5. Sometimes by changing lures they will attack it. Suspended jerkbaits in bright colors get pea's attention. Remember, if you can see them they can see you. Bigger pea's shy away a bit when they can see you.
  6. In that case, increase weight until you can punch through the canopy. The weight range can be anywhere from 1oz-1.5oz
  7. The obvious answer is more weight, and I would add, what rod are you using for this application?
  8. Boston is that you!! Man... its been awhile since I have seen you post!!
  9. Spooks will do fine too, and yes focus on working cover. Good luck. Where abouts Miami will you be fishing?
  10. What are you planning to fish for? If you are going for Peacocks, midsize jerkbaits are "hot" right now. As far as license fees here you go: http://www.myfwc.com/license/
  11. Pretty sad news. RIP
  12. I have the that exact Champion rod for my jigging applications. Awesome rod for jigging. Although its been given the designation of H, this rod doesn't remotely feel like a H rod. It feels like a light MH rod. 1/2 oz will be the max jig weight I would throw on these rods. Anything heavier I would look into the 735 that was mentioned.
  13. Yeah... I figured that. Just leave that one to the side until the next frog dies and you can use that frog for parts. Trust me, fish frogs long enough and you will have quite the frog graveyard. Lol!!
  14. If you have an old frog, take the hook line tie off of that one. Before I retire any frog, I strip it down for parts. Hooks, line ties, skirts, etc.
  15. Frog may not be on the menu. I know that's hard to hear, but bass can be picky like that. To increase your chances though, I will give you a tip that helps me a lot. Minimize casting all over the place and be selective where you cast. Frog fishing in the summer can be slow if you don't throw the bait in the right location. Frog to me screams vegetation. Not just any vegetation, but the green healthy variety. For example pads and grass. I like to cast behind the grass and pads and land literally on the bank. If the bass are there ambushing bait, hold on to your rod. Bass are ambush predators, so throw in spots that most people wouldn't dream about casting in. Frogs are very versatile and they can handle being fished in those ugly places. Make sure you are fishing with a strong rod and and using at least 50lb braid in dense cover, and 40lb in moderate to light cover. Best of luck to you.
  16. This isn't new, I noticed the increases 6 months ago. I guess BPS has picked up on the fact that many have migrated toward their product and demand is there sooooo... up goes the price...
  17. ^^^ THIS ^^^ Frog fishing has a learning curve. Accept the fact now that you will miss, lose, and catch many bass on the frog. Keep at it..
  18. I walk the bank until I develop a pattern. Not all stretches of our urban canals are made the same. Cover can go from bare to coverage with grass and pads, rocks or artificial cover like the occasional chair, A/C unit, couch, shopping carts, etc.... Lol!! You know what I am talking about. Fish may be holding in different places or depths along the canal. With the rains we have been having, try your luck close to around the culverts that may have cooler water running through them. The fish can stack up around those areas. It's not unheard of for me to cover 1-2 miles looking for fish.
  19. I have learned to respect the sun even when its cloudy. The harmful rays still penetrate through light to moderate cloud cover.
  20. I run and gun. I work a section for about 10 minutes and move on. If I am bank fishing I just keep moving down the bank until I find signs of life and develop a pattern. When I am on my boat, I go where the wind takes me. Literally. Since I have a small tin boat, I learned not to fight the wind. It can be frustrating. If I am pitching or flipping however, I place the boat in the vegetation to anchor itself and then pick the cover apart and move on to the next spot.
  21. I am confident you will recover Snook, you are one tough SOB.
  22. One of my favorite days on the water that quickly comes to mind, was last year. May-June. Between my Brother-in law and I, we landed 60 bass between 2-6lbs, frog fishing in the Glades. We beat our previous record which was 58 the year before. I was pretty sore the following day that's for sure. Lol...
  23. I have been fishing now for just about 30yrs all down here in South FL.... wow.... never thought I would be saying that.... Lol!!
