  1. Sqhertz, I have completly forgotten about the DOA lures. Thanks for mention.
  2. Awesome find. Enjoy!!!
  3. Awesome pics, your son shows no fear handling fish. Enjoy those family moments.
  4. This topic is being mentioned alot, awesome!! I am all in for a braid to fluro leader. Depending on application however. As far as what fluro i will recommend? This is where I will tell you experiment with a line that works for you and that your comfortable with. As you can see there are numerous brands that everyone swears by. Over the years, and with help of this forum I narrowed it down to two brands of fluro that I use and suit me for the type of fishing that I do.
  5. IME I feel its a confidence thing to fish straight braid in gin clear water. Me personally, I fish a fluro leader with braid. Some guys you have noticed here on this post fish straight braid no problem. Others with leaders. Answer? Try both and see what you are comfortable with. Good luck.
  6. Use your rod as a reference point next time.
  7. The medium will work, a Mh will give you a liitle bit more backbone on those hard hooksets. I used to use a MH carbonlite for frogging caught a lot bass on it until I upgraded.
  8. To remove line, I use the drill, and the cardboard toilet paper roll. The cardboard roll fits right on the drill and removes the line in seconds.
  9. With the great info that all these guys have provided, you have some reading to do. Good luck this weekend. What frog do you plan to use?
  10. I have watched how bass slowly approach the frog from the bottom, come up and slurp it like a fine oyster. No wake, blow up, or commotion. Frog is there one second and the next slurp. Then, boom!! hookset.
  11. No luck Kristo?? Miami canals will produce however it depends on many factors. What time did you go? What kind of line and lbs test were you using? The soft plastics that were suggested to you will work however you have summer temps to deal with. Also, you will find what I call "city bass", are very finicky and spooky at times. Your approach has to be subtle and stealth like. If you approach the bank directly, the game is half over. Polarized glasses is a must. Patience, patience patience. I have been skunked the last four times I have gone to my neighborhood canal on the Northern end of Dade county. I did see a nice Snook for the first time in my area canal and missed a peacock bass. You may want to try some finesse worms, for example, smaller zoom trick worms and zoom centipedes. They don't hit those pack it up and go home.
  12. Remember the senkos for LMB.
  13. What you have plus a jerk bait and some horny toads, buzz the grass and pads for LMB. Be aware of the areas you fish. There is alot hydrilla and various grasses this time of year so it could render some of your baits with trebles useless.
  14. Blue lagoon will be challenging without a boat. However you can work the same canal system on tamiami trail and there is miles of bank there. Also heard that there is good peacock bass fishing around the canals around the " The Falls". I know I am throwing alot at you, but in your area there are numerous canal systems, you will not have a shortage of options.
  15. Try tropical park off of Bird rd and Palmetto. The lake in that park is known to hold bass in the 7lbs + range. FWC did some electro-shocking in there sometime ago to confirm those weights.
  16. I live in the Miami area. Where are you more or less and I can direct you to some areas. Miami/ Miami Dade county has tons of areas. There are urban canals all over that hold good fish.
  17. I have been using the P-line FC for a while now. No complaints. It does its job. You will know when its time to replace though. It coils up pretty good. I just replace and keep fishing. ( I use line conditioner also)
  18. What do you mean by smooth? Smooth to cast? I find it to be. I use power pro 30-50lbs depending on application.
  19. 44 LMB in one outing. 2lbs - 5+lbs last year. Went through two Live target frogs that day. Gives me goosebumps just writing about it.
  20. Awesome catch.
  21. Congrats on your new purchase. Enjoy your new toy.
  22. Wait.... I take back what I said on the hook placement for the scale. Upon looking at the pic I was way off i apologize. I would not place the scale hook where the black dot is. I generally place it right underneath the bottom lip where you would thumb it.
  23. Nice fish, looks under five. As far as those scales go I sharpened the hook on mine and pierce the bass right on that dot. Everytime I go to weigh a bass hooked thru the gill plate, they shake there head they fall off.
  24. I am sure you chose wisely, let us know what u got.
  25. It's too bad you missed the big one. Maybe next time. Sounds like you may have to invest in scale when the big one decides to rear her big head again.
