  1. One of the best things of South Fl, are the endless amounts of canals. Google Earth is a valuable resource in this situation.
  2. I can understand change is sometimes unwelcome. In this case you have no choice but to adapt. The changes have been implemented and the old system is long gone.
  3. Hi Bass recon, welcome to BR. The best advice I can give you is to be as active as you can on this site, get to know the members and over time you will meet people and find your self a fishing partner (s). I know this because it's happen to me first hand. I have been fortunate enough to have met, and fish with a couple of members from this site. Best of luck to you.
  4. Went fishing out on the alley yesterday out of MM35. Fished the Miami Canal North. The South canal was obstructed by hyacinths. Post front conditions, high winds and high water made the outing quite challenging. Fished from 8am-4pm, boat traffic was light. The fish activity was sporadic at best, with no discernable patterns emerging. Although the jig bite did receive the most bites. Here are some pics of my better catches. Enjoy!!
  5. Hi Fentawn, welcome to BR, I see one of your favorite places to fish is Amelia Park. Coincidence should have it, that is one of my favorite places as well. As far as Tropical park is concerned, the way you would fish Amelia, I would fish Tropical Park and AD Barnes the same way. Keep in mind all 3 of these parks receive fishing pressure, and as a result these fish are very skittish. Also, the fact that the water is very clear makes fishing them a bit more challenging. As far as techniques, finesse has always yielded me the most bites. Best of luck to you.
  6. I used braid for the applications mentioned above by the OP, however for my taste I went back to using yozuri in the 12-15lb variety. My hook ups increased compared to when I used braid exclusively.
  7. Very fresh look.... like any thing new there will be learning curves. It will take some time to adapt but we'll get the hang of it quick.
  8. The only 2 lines I use are YZ and PP. For frog fishing I do not recommend YZ however. Frog fishing IMHO, requires powerful hook sets. Although Yz is great line it stretches too much to secure a strong solid hookset, which braid will easily provide.
  9. ^^^ This ^^^ Keep those hooks away from sleeping areas. Lol!!
  10. I have seen people bank fish from Slims fish camp in Belle Glade. They have docks to fish from. On the South side of the Rim ditch canal I also saw people bank fishing. I may be wrong, but I don't think you actually fish Lake O by bank, because you have the rim ditch canal around the lakes perimeter. However, during low water situations the rim ditch I have heard produces some nice fish. Good luck to you.
  11. Nope... I just love fishing for them.
  12. Nice catches. Some of those fish look like real bruisers, with the teeth to match. South America have many species of freshwater fish that are intimidating to look at. Lol!! WTG!!
  13. We're pulling for you Dwight.
  14. Yeah, Homestead holds some nice bass. Looks like your buddies backyard flooded a bit with all the rain we had this week huh?
  15. Employers will not be suspicious why you received your degree a semester late. All they like to see is that you received a degree.
  16. He unfortunately has been incognito. Hopefully he's ok.
  17. I use a sling pack for all my bank fishing needs. Forces me to carry only the essential baits and tackle. That way I am not walking the bait with pounds and pounds of crap that I don't need.
  18. If you are speaking about plastic swimbaits. I have designated my 734 Champion rod, paired with a 1500 Scorpion using 40lb Power Pro.
  19. Christmas is coming up so you might find a Curado I on sale for that price. That's what I did couple of Xmas's back. The Curado fits the bill for me in several of those techniques mentioned. I have never thrown an A-rig, so I can't vouch for that.
  20. Had the same thing happen to me once, but it was in my thumb close to the knuckle. All I had to do was add a new treble hook to my lure. The split ring was still attached.
  21. Wow... what are the odds of that. LOL... I googled earth my parents house once, and when I hit street view, I saw my family putting out Christmas ornaments at that moment... lol!!
  22. He took a leave of absence. He was/is dealing with a medical issue. On his last post he mentioned that since he wouldn't be fishing for while, he wouldn't be posting until he returned to the water.
  23. To the OP, for the all the techniques you want this rod for, there is a give in take. For the moving baits, you can't go wrong with a 703-704. For jigs definitely the 704 will be a good rod. Now the frog... that one imho would have to be a 5 power. Like the 705 if Fury comes in that combo. I know they have 735's. That's an ideal frogging rod.
  24. Great post RW. Sticky this thread if you haven't done so already. Maybe....just maybe.... this will curtail these type of posts in the future. Maybe...lol
