  1. I'm fishing at Tilden Rogers park in West Memphis, AR. Its a local park with a sports complex and a small pond that the game and fish commission stocks. I guess they stocked it with big cats this time. I saw plenty of people dragging out 3+ lb cats. I went back this evening and was using a black/blue chatterbait and caught a 5 lb 13 oz cat. I wasn't ready for her. She put up one heck of a fight. Gonna bass fish early in the morning for a few hours then grab the cooler and catch some dinner. 2 catfish caught today that total over 10 lbs using bass baits. Lol!
  2. I've been hunting this same bass since he threw my bait 3 days ago. This was the first time I could actually see him since the wind died down a little. I was throwing a chatterbait at him with no luck so I wacky rigged a 5 inch red shad senko and thought I had him but after feeling it I thought there was a larger bass at the end. Then after playing with him for a while (to wear him down) it ended up being a 4 lb 5 oz catfish. Had a pretty good fight though. At least I know the bass is still there. Maybe tomorrow.
  3. I've found that currently the fish react more to the spinnerbait approach. Caught me another one this evening. 2 lbs maybe but I've noticed only the bigger fish bit it and the little ones run from it. Trailer hook tomorrow morning and I will see if that helps. Thanks
  4. Thanks everyone. This is a great site. Learning a lot already.
  5. So I went fishing at a local public pond that has a little bit of everything in it. Tilden Rogers park in West Memphis, Ar. Game and fish stocks it. Largemouths are catch and release only. I've been reading up on the chatterbaits as I've been away from fishing for a while. Went to Walmart and got 5 of them in different colors and sizes. I only used the char/white with the trailer that comes with it. I hung my biggest bass of 2012 on my 4th cast and wasn't even used to the lure yet. Unfortunately he threw the hook. Wasn't that big maybe 3.5-4 lbs. Caught a few small fish then I saw a bigger fish guarding a nest and on the first cast I hooked it but it got off right at the bank. He looked around 5 lbs. So for my first time using the chatterbait I'm impressed with it and glad I bought it. I'm using a crappy Walmart spinning rod till I get some money saved up and I was reeling it slow so it would go deeper. What are some good techniques that you use that produce? I will change it up next time.
  6. Hey everyone. I'm getting back into bass after I took a few years off for my family. Don't have a boat at the moment so pond fishing it is for now. I live in Marion AR but from Wynne, Ar where the state record was caught illegally from Lake Dunn because the guy didn't have a license. Hopefully there's another in the lake and I can find her. Nothing beats bass fishing. IMO
