  1. This for me too ^
  2. Sometimes. I usually get my Zoom 8" magnum lizzards there. The few stores that carry them want $5-$5.50 a bag. I just bought a few bags for $4 each with free shipping. Most of my reels came from ebay. There is a seller there unitedoutdoors that sells New Pflueger spinning reels for 15-20 dollars less than store prices.
  3. I use P-line flouroclear on my crankbait setup and love it. First problem, move up to 10 lb. Test. The line diameter is your REAL concern, not test rating. This line is generally thinner in diameter than comparable lines of the same lb. Test rating. I have all spinning rigs. My crankbait setup uses 12 lb. Flouroclear.... While I have 3 other full time setups that use P-line CX. 2 of them use 12 lb. CX, and 1 uses 15 lb CX. Once again, all spinning setups and no manageability issues on any of them. LOL.... Most other 15 lb. lines would coil off the spool of your standard bass sized spinning reels. ( in this case a 35 size Pflueger medalist) but not this stuff.
  4. A Fenwick HMG M/MF is doing the trick well so far. And I used to use a MH/F Premier myself and had issues with the stiffness of the tip.
  5. I would reccomend P-line CX in 10 lb. Test. Very supple line that is pretty d**n strong.
  6. I was just going to tell you that I just used the first link I found in order for you to see it.. But yes, the 52 dollar price is borderline insane. I paid 40 bucks each for mine at a local marina that does not have a reputation for low prices. I figured you could do even better than that online Glad to help.. I was in the same bind as you when I found these.
  7. http://www.boatersplus.com/swivl-eze-jon-boat-swivel-slide-rails.html POW!!! Your solution. One NJ guy to another.
  8. Behold- http://www.boatersplus.com/swivl-eze-jon-boat-swivel-slide-rails.html I used these to mount high back seats on 6" pedestals. You just use Stainless steel self tappers to mount this setup directly to your bench. I have had them on the boat for 3+ years with no issues.
  9. It took me 30 minutes of my life to read all of this....I have gained absolutely nothing from it. Zilch. Squat. Zero. I really do want my 30 minutes back. There is my opinion.
  10. I am currently running p-line CX and flouroclear in 12 lb. on 3 out of 4 of my main spinning rigs. One for cranks, one for spinnerbaits/swimbaits, and the other for t-rigs and split shot rigs. As said above, line diameter is more important than lb. rating.
  11. I just started using 8 lb. Suffix cast able invisiline on my 30 size Pflueger Medalist. So far, so good.
  12. Look at Cabelas version of the St. Croix Premier. The same as the Premier you can get anywhere else, but only Cabelas has the split grip version.
  13. The Huddleston Grass Minnow ( as well as the weedless shad) is a top notch weedless swim bait that produces well.
  14. Mine is " The Barnacle". Named from Scully's schooner from the movie Summer rental. My buddies boat is the "S.S. Disappointment."
  15. I don't get the memory problems people seem to have with P-line. I use all spinning gear. My finesse plastics rod, spinner bait/ small swim bait rod, and crankbait setup all use 12 lb. P-line CX or flouroclear. My Jig/Frog setup currently has 15. Lb. CX on it. Have only used it a little with 1/2 oz jigs, but have not had a problem with that yet either. Maybe it will start giving me issues when I frog fish due to being lighter than jigs. We will wait and see there.
  16. P-line CX and P-line flouroclear on all my rigs. Good strength and manageability. Not at all expensive.
  17. If you have 300 dollars total budget on a finesse spinning combo, I would spend more on the rod than on the reel. I would go with a 6'8" M/XF St Croix Avid ($180) and pair it with a Pflueger Purist or Supreme reel ($80 for the Purist, $100 for the Supreme.)
  18. Perfect! Thanks for the link!
  19. So I was servicing Pflueger supreme spinning reel and ended up overstretching and rendering practically useless the anti-reverse spring for the switch. Anyone where I can pick up a new one?
  20. I see it this way.... A good Auto mechanic can fix most problems with a limited set of husky tools, but with 20k in Snap on tools he can fix cars with less chance of tool failure, greater comfort of his hands/wrists, and maybe the job is easier based on tool design. However, A pianist will never be capable of quick and proper car repairs no matter what tools are at his disposal. Same with fishing, concentrate on learning and upgrade gear as you get more proficient in using different techniques.
  21. I have decided to give jigs a good run this year myself. I just didn't have $ to throw at a lot of jigs and trailers to start with. Unfortunately my love of Huddleston weedless shads and grass minnows drove me to spend over 100 bucks stocking up on them. I also needed to stock up on lizards and worms for T rigging...Then a new Avid and Purist reel for my Huddlestons....Then some live target cranks...and then. O f%&k it...you see where this is going! Anyway, I picked up 4 Terminator grass jigs in 1/2 oz. 2 are black with blue and purple in the skirts, and the other 2 are pumpkinseed. Both are high success colors for me on T-rigged plastics. I bought some Trigger X aggression 4" twin tail grubs for trailers. Let's see how this goes. I will be throwing them on a 6'6" St. Croix Premier MH/F with a Pflueger Medalist reel with 15. Lb. P-line CX as the line ( I am a all spinning gear guy). On a side note, has anyone used Trigger X plastics? I usually stick to Zoom 85% of the time with some Berkeley PB plastics sprinkled in. I was just wondering if this company makes good soft plastic baits.
  22. I would probably bump up to 20-30 lb braid...but I am the overkill master. Most of my spinning reels run 12 lb. P-line CX or flouroclear with no real issue in manageability. I plan on pushing the envelope a bit more this year by running 15. lb. P-line CX on one of my setups.
  23. I have had multiple premiers... ML/F, M/F, and MH/F. All were good solid rods. I still have a 6'6" MH/F premier I use for frogs and brush jigs. It takes a pounding and never gives. Mind you these are all spinning rods so they are rated slightly weaker than the same rods in BC form. I have been slowly upgrading my rods to Avoids and LTB's, but have no problem with recommending Premiers to those who want a good rod on a budget.
  24. Zoom 8" magnum blizzards in pumpkinseed, black emerald, or junebug for me.
  25. I actually fashioned a new one out of a roofing nail when I was in a pinch. Used my angle grinder armed with a cutting wheel and chopped the head off of the nail....then cut the tip end off to match the needed length. Worked like a charm for a couple of months until I got the OEM shear pins.
