I practically robbed my homeowners association today when they sold me 2 "broken" trolling motors for 40 bucks.
The first one was an Endura 50 that supposedly ran in reverse in forward gears and forward in reverse gears. Apparently who ever used it must have crossed positive/ negative wires because it ran fine when I bench tested it!
The Traxxis is another story. It has all 3 reverse gears functional, but none of the forward gears work. Any one here have an idea where to start on this particular motor? I would love to use this as my primary electric motor if I can get it to run.
Love my Pfluegers. Have owned Trions, Presidents, President XT, Medalists, Purist, Supreme, and Patriarch. All good trouble free reels with minimal maintenance.
^ This.. Big Time. Every line manufacturer has their own LB. rating, and most are inaccurate. I use P-Line Flouroclear and CX in 10-12 lb on my Medium action spin rods. My MH spin rod uses 15 lb. CX. That works fine for that line. Put 12 lb. Yo-zuri hybrid on and it will never work. The 12 lb. Yo-zuri has a much thicker diameter than either 12 lb. P-lines I listed, so line management will be a huge issue.
BTW... Avoid the Trailblazer. They eat wheel bearings alive among other probs. If you want a reliable SUV, look at 4runners or Explorers. Avoid GM and Dodge mid-size SUVs as most seem to have problems.
Toyotas are generally more money than others due to reliability. You can pay now in purchase cost, or pay more later in repairs. I have owned at least one of all manufacturers trucks. None touched Toyota in reliability.
I am using Oakley flak jackets with angling specific "Deep blue polarized" lenses. Love them. Also love how I can remove the lenses and keep a set of black polarized lenses in for daily use.
They work well for me. The most productive one I own is the golden shiner 1/2 oz. lipless crank in silver/blue back. But have had luck on all the lipless ones in one way or another.
Right over the river here in Milford, PA is pretty much the same. Nothing in the shallows yet and the fish still seem to be holding in deeper waters yet. The surface temp on my lake this past Monday was 52°. Spawn is still probably a month away or so.
Premier... USA made. It also has a flex coat finish that the Triumph lacks. I would go Medium power unless you plan on throwing weedless baits into heavy cover. The Pflueger President is a great reel for 50 bucks. But if you can afford the 70 dollars, go for the Pflueger Purist. The aluminum body and heavier bail wire is worth the extra 20 bucks IMO.
Sssooo let me get this straight. Your guide broke your rod and you are upset that St. Croix will not eat 100% of the cost of his mistake?! Makes sense.... said no one.
I am from and work in Morris, Live 15 minutes over the border in PA, but fish Sussex county a lot. Usually Aeroflex, Swartswood, and Franklin pond. Also do Hopatcong sometimes. Want to get out and try little Swartswood as it is stocked with Tiger Musky.
Koppers Live Target golden shiner, 1/2 and 3/4 oz, chrome/blue back and gold/green back. The Live Target gizzard shad in chrome/blue back. Live target blue gill. All great lipless cranks for me.
I have used the aluminum ones way2slow showed and have them tek screwed right into my bench. I slid 7" pedestal mounts right into the brackets. It has worked perfect for 4+ years. I would not screw the pedestals directly into the bench, they will end up ripping out of the bench if you lean back/forward enough.
I currently have a President, Purist, 2 Medalists, a Supreme, and a Patriarch. All of them are great. The Supreme MG is a good reel. Try to find another reel made from magnesium for $100. Never had any real problems from any Pflueger.
I just picked up a new group 29 Interstate for 120. My old one only last for 4 seasons.. But I will admit that I neglected to do proper care and charging a good amount.
Get the V6. My 2010 2.7l won't tow more than 1,300 lbs. comfortably where I live. But I live in the mountains where I find myself on some steep hills. As a sidenote, the 2005+ models have larger front brakes than previous generations did. But if you get a pre-2005 model, you can upgrade to Tundra front brakes as the parts swap is a breeze. Just be sure you have 16" wheels. The brake upgrade will not work with 15's. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions. I am kind of a Toyota truck nut.
