  1. Thanks guy! Does anyone have an idea what depth i should be targeting?
  2. ...size Medalist to put on my spinnerbait rod, I will be selling the Pres and a Templar both in 35 size for 55-60 bucks
  3. FIve broken a Pres and a Trion. The Trions gear box started to grind and sound awful... But then again I was using a 30 size to frog fish heavy pads. It happened horsing a 4+ lb LM out of the lilly pads with, of course, the fish being covered in a metric ton of weeds. The Pres I broke at the stem. I accidentally leaned against it ( I dont think I put that much weight on it, but who knows) and CRACK! Both of these ineestances are obviously not the fault of the reels....But it has since pushed me into Magnesium/Aluminum bodied reels. The last graphite body reel I use is the Pres in a 35 size. But as soon as I can find a 30 s
  4. I picked up the Pflueger Templar spinning reel that apparently made for walmart only. It is basically a President with 1 one less bearing for 10 dollars less. It feels everybit as smooth as my Presidents. For 50 bucks it's a steal.
  5. Welcome!
  6. I usually don't worry about blade color for weather conditions... Usually blade color for me is a concern based on water clarity. Silver for clear water and gold for stained. I concentrate more on body/skirt color for weather. I usually go with white/silver (light colors) on sunny days and black/dark blue (dark colors) on overcast days.
  7. Hey all. I have a few lakes up here in NJ that are stocked with Atlantic Salmon. I managed to catch one early last year on a crank. But besides that it has beem slow going. Any suggestions as far as bait/ technique that could help? The lake I fish for them has 3 seperate "bowels" with the max depth of each being around 110 feet. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  8. Aeroflex in Andover was a bit slow last week. 3 pickeral and 2 LM's. One bass was over 5 lbs., though.
  9. Go to FFO.com and checkout the AllStar pro series. I have one and paid 70 dollars for it new 2 years ago. Now selling for 38 dollars on that site. Good sensitivity and strength, genuine fuji guides and reel seat. Not to put down the shock rod, but the pro series all star is literally twice the rod for the 38 dollars it cost there.
  10. Personnal preference is the biggest thing. A 7' footer allows for longer casts, the 6' 6" will be slightly easier for horsing big LM's in covered in vegetation. Not really a huge difference in 6" though in regards to performance.
  11. Another vote here for the Pflueger Patriarch. It is an amazing reel. Yoy can find them new on ebay for around 160. Just picked up the 35 size. The Supreme xt would be a fairly close 2nd, though
  12. Zoom ol' monster and Berkley 10" powerworms for me. I have a stock of 7" powerworms for the times that the 10 inchers are too big for their appetite.
  13. Go to FFO.com and check out their allstar rods on clearance. Good rods at a great price.
  14. Hey guys... Every once in a while a company comes along in life that provides customer service that makes you feel like you are more than a number to help improve their bottom line. Koppers bait corp. is a shining example. I recently purchased 2 blueback herring swimbaits manufactured by them. On my first outing, I experienced a few light snags.... Not stums/rocks/dead body type snags, but light vegetation. I noticed at one point that the bottom treble hook was missing (split ring stretched out) and the rear treble hook was missing a point. Being a guy that swears by Koppers live target lipless cranks, I was very disappointed. The lipless cranks they peoduce have never given me trouble. I contacted them via e-mail to express my disapointment to them. I was contacted very quickly by Mike Chopin, Koppers office/ pro-staff manager. He apologized and offered to let me return the swimbaits directly to him, and exchange them for any lipless cranks I wanted as a replacement! I had no receipt, no photos..nothing but my word and Mike went out of his way to take care of me. The results I have gotten from their crankbaits is second to none on the lake.... But this experience made me realize that I can buy their products without worries of being left out to dry if something breaks. Thanks to Mike Chopin and the Koppers staff for your excellent products and service!
  15. Thanks guys... Figured out the phone issue too. Jeez, Mike... I remember you told me about your NY/NJ/PA license, but CT too? You really get around!! On a side note, I just picked up a Pflueger Patriarch spinning reel.... Have you tried one of these yet? It is an insanely good reel for the money. I bought it for my frog rod and am dying for the lily pads to come up now!
  16. BTW... If anyone can tell me how to post on theis forum with my Android phone, It would be appreciated. I cant seem to type in this text column on my phone!
  17. Hi all... Been reading this forum for years and finally got off of my worthless duff and made an account. I live in Milford, PA... But I usually fish NJ more often as my friends live there and I am only 10 min from the NJ border. I usually fish Aeroflex, Hopatcong, Franklin pond, Swartswood, Monksville, and Shohola. I am a neighbor of Mike from Deleware Valley Tackle. (If your reading this, Mike. This is Devin, The tall guy with the lifted silver Tacoma that lives in Gold key about 5 min away) I am a huge Pflueger/St. Croix guy. Glad to have finally joined!!
