  1. ..... when you have a reciept and dealer service center nearby. I have neither. The part is cheap. Just getting tired of replacing it.
  2. Pflueger trion is your reel. Unbelievably smooth and durable for 40 dollars.
  3. I have a 45 lb. Thrust endura that is a season and a half old. Today I lost the 2nd speed control switch in the short time I have owned it. Anyone else have this issue?
  4. I use a 6' 6" premier for my frog rod with no complaints.
  5. I have the Pflueger supreme and patriarch in 35 size...Both fine reels. Your 80 dollar price on the Supreme is a great deal on a fine reel. But, the patriarch is a REALLY sweet reel. Tough call there.
  6. Only difference between the Premier and Triumph is the country of manufacture and the Premier has a flex coat finish. The Triumph line does not have the coating.
  7. Yes... My dedicated crankbait rod is a spinning setup. I use it for 3/8-3/4 oz. Cranks. I fish frogs in heavy cover with a MH spinning rod and a magnesium bodied reel. From what I have read, it seems most guys here would not even believe a spinning set up would work for frogs, let alone use one. If it works well and you are comfortable using it, why not?
  8. At FFO.com you can get an all star pro series rod for 50 dollars shipped, then go to walmart and get a pflueger templar reel for another 50. Its a REAL good combo for 100.
  9. Never used the super spot, but the rat-l-trap has caught me some good fish. I use my Koppers live target rattle baits 90% of the time now. But if I am on a strange body of water and dont want to lose a 12-13 dollar crank, I will start with a rat-l-trap until I feel I know the lake better.
  10. I use texas alot..mostly larger baits like 8" lizards and 10" worms. Helps mr get a better cast and a slightly better sink with bulkier baits. I have the patience of Job to work them effectively usually.
  11. LOL.....Nevermind. Dan from St Croix just called!
  12. For those that have traded in a rod for a higher end one, what was your personnal experience with turnaround time? They have had my rod for 3 days and I am waiting for the call from them to get my credit card info to pay for the new one. Just curious if I will be seeing the upgrade rod anyrime soon. Thanks for the help.
  13. Usually 4-5. If we are on a body of water that holds Muskie or Pike... A 6th rod may creep in. ;-)
  14. Zoom lizzards in pumpkinseed and black emerald Zoom ole monster or Berkley 10" powerworm in black Berkley 5" powerhog in pumpkinseed and watermelon Berkley PB realistix kickerfrog in tree frog color. ( I dont use plastic body frogs.... After finding these I stopped using them!)
  15. T-Rigged 8" zoom mag lizard or 10" ole' monster worm.
  16. The hard swimbaits I am good on... I am stuck on koppers blue back herring. But for weedless, I just ordered 6 huddleston grass minnows from tackle warehouse. Hope they perform!
  17. I have a 12' lowe angler that I have customized (pedestal swivel seats, casting decks with hatch, fishfinder, downrigger, rod holders, etc.) and my buddy and I can carry 4 combos each with no difficulty. Any more and it gets hairy.
  18. Will do! Thanks guys. As for using the "right" reel, I am going to be using a Pflueger patriarch in 35 size on it. I don't foresee any disappointment using this reel. I have Pflueger supreme, medalist, president, and president xt on all my other St. Croix rods with no regrets in regards to performance and reliability.
  19. What is the first letter in the rods serial #? That denotes the year of manufacture. For example, "G"= 2008, "H"=2009, "I"= 2010. ETC. They do not accept trade ins manufactured prior to 2001 though.
  20. St. Croix would certainly let you trade it in towards a legend series rod, using the above posters depreciation values. Not sure they would do an avid for avid swap, though. Call them at 800-826-7042. When prompted connect to ext. 139. It doesn't hurt to ask
  21. I want to start using them more often. I am looking at soft plastic style swimbaits that can be rigged weedless with weighted hooks to have another option for fishing vegetation. What brands/ styles are you guys using with success?
  22. Pickeral. If lose a dozen in 2-3 seasons, 11 will be due to chain pickeral strikes.
  23. Yea... After fishing the mojo for 3 seasons, I have gotten used to the split grip throwing plastics. It doesn't feel the same using a full grip on my finesse rod. I also do like the blue LTB blank. I was also informed by Dan at St. Croix that they are running a deal right now. If you upgrade to a Legend series rod, you get 30 days after that to purchase other legend series rods at 20% off. I am only buying the upgrade rod. I might have a decent job, but I am not making heart surgeon bankroll! However, I am talking to a few friends to see if they would like me to order a rod for them so they can take advantage of the discount.
  24. Well, Lake hopatcong wasnt great. We went out fri. and my buddy 1 LM,1 pickeral, anf 2 rock bass. I hit a 3 lb LM and 1 LM that looked like a 7" power worm would beat in a street fight! I have a lot of running to do this week ( baby coming in 2 weeks!) , but I am going to see if I can hit Aeroflex one morning before work. My buddy and I have a trip to Lake Shohola planned for next Sunday.
  25. I use Sperry topsiders. Comfy and last seemingly forever. I have on pair that is almost 7 years old and beaten up, yet they still have tread and no holes.
