  1. I fish Vanish and I've never had issues with it. I fish a lot and I can't say that its cost me any fish or lures. I fish a spool two or three days before I change the line out. Maybe that is why I haven't experienced issues.
  2. Did you pull up the schematic and pull everything apart and put it back together?
  3. Tbone, I will tell you that once you learn how to use a baitcaster you'll be glad you did. Baitcasters can be annoying when you're first learning but you just have to be patient. Get yourself an Abu Garcia Black Max. Its like $45 at Walmart. Its a reliable reel and its relatively inexpensive. Walmart sells Abu Garcia rod/reel combos as well. Once you find what you're looking for, go to youtube and look up Bassresource. Subscribe to their youtube channel and Glenn has videos of how to set up your baitcaster and videos for just about everything else. Good luck!
  4. I would say that my rod/reel selection wouldn't be any different than in a regular boat. Obviously you have limited space so rod holders are a must. I usually fish with three combos. All rods are 6'6" or over 7'. As for tackle, I basically set up two speed bags and only take along the tackle that I feel is necessary for the conditions. I have one bag with cranks, jigs, spinners and one with terminal tackle and worms. I love fishing from my kayak. I've also noticed that fishing a lipless crankbait is amplified in a kayak. What I mean by that is you can actually feel and hear your crankbait's rattles under the water and vibrating through your kayak. I can actually hear the fish strike. Its really cool!
  5. I've got a speed spin and I love it. I use it primarily for drop shotting. The drag is as smooth as it can be. I'm really impressed with mine and I will probably be buying a Lews baitcaster soon as well.
  6. Thanks for the feedback fellas!
  7. I just recently bought a W&M Skeet Reese crankbait rod. Its the S glass rod. Man has it made a difference in my crankbait fishing. I catch 10 times more fish now than before. The feel of the rod has made a big difference in my crankbait fishing. I never thought that equipment made that much of a difference. Boy was I wrong. Anybody use a certain rod for crankin thats better than the W&M?
  8. I find things like this amusing. Elaborate schemes to do a fishing show? Logic tells you that its harder to have people under water with pens of bass while a diver waits for Bill's lure to come by, they hold on to the hook, underwater, with limited visibility, open the pen, hook the fish, and then wait for Bill's next cast to do it all over again. Seriously? Conspiracy theories concerning Bill Dance. I assure you that there are no elaborate schemes going on here.....

  10. Grizzn, I am not the most knowledgeable fisherman but I can tell you what I've been told because I have asked the same questions. Obviously the bass will be deep but they are catchable. As a matter of fact, my buddy sent me an article that said to use jigs, flat sided crankbaits, jigging spoons, and jerkbaits. I have tried drop shotting too. I caught my first November bass a couple of days ago. I was using a red tomato colored, salt infused finesse worm with a drop shot rig. If you don't know what it is, its very effective in the summer time and now I'm trying to figure it out in fall/winter. I love a drop shotted worm or minnow. Also, fish very slow. All the hits I got on my worm were very light. Going again Saturday. Gonna try to fish some bass jigs. Should be interesting.
