  1. Just wanted to revisit this to see if there were any new observations. I also believe a weathered worn bait till outfish a new bait
  2. I made one myself and I love it. I'm sure your stuff will go to a good home
  3. Is anyone else having issues getting on the Seiberts website? It won't load for me,been 2 days trying.
  4. Is it as simple as parking somewhere, walking beside the bridge and just wade where you want to go?
  5. I agree with all this just if I'm driving 4 hours each way for a 1 day trip I just wanna make sure I have a place to fish. Legally. I'll check out Google Earth though
  6. I live in the Hampton Roads area where there are no Smallmouth. I'd like to take a drive and find a river, creek, or stream that I can wade around and catch some smallmouth. Ideally the water would be clear, shallow (5 feet or under) and not overly crowded. Looking for more numbers then size. So what body of river would be best, where would be a good access point to start, and any tips on tackle? It'd just be a 1 day trip, I'd throw on a pair of water shoes, shirts and a backpack and head out, nothing fancy.
  7. I bought a Kastking Spartacus baitcast reel cause it was cheap to try out. I don't like it at all. It's physically pretty but I can't get it dialed in to cast properly.
  8. So I just started fishing here after hearing about it for years. Anyone fish here regularly and have any tips? I've been launching out of Mill Landing Rd, I think near Muddy Creek Rd. I've been getting lots bites in the grass, but I'm missing a lot of them. Seems like they just slap at lures. But when I get to a cleaner bottom, I do well with jigs, weightless soft plastics, and chatterbaits.
  9. Here's what I would do personally, if I was bound and determined to catch fish at this lake. I'd toss a 1/4 oz jig or even a bitsy bug to any cover I see along the shoreline. I'd want a black and blue jig/trailer. And I'd want the trailer to have action, so something like a Rage Craw or Paca Chunk.
  10. I've never tried scents. I wish manufacturers would make like .5 oz tubes to test out. I'd imagine they would work, especially on a tough bite
  11. I just believe a large number of guys on this forum could go out on a new lake and catch 20-30 bass that average a pound much easier then they could go out and catch even a 20 lb sack (5 fish limit). This is consistently over the course of a tournament season. I personally fish for quantity over quality so I get a lot of 30-50 bass days, most average about a pound to pound and a half fish. I do have giants mixed in but they aren't a consistent catch. I feel like if you find shallow cover and throw smaller baits, senkos, etc you'll get great numbers. A lot of the guys that blank on the big tours are because they are going for that big sack of fish and not a limit. Sometimes it works out sometimes it doesnt. Basically if you fish a Elite event you need a limit of 3-4 lb fish consistently. On MLF you just need to find a school of 1 lbers and stay on them all day.
  12. The way MLF is, with just going for as many 1 lbs as you can get. I truly think I could complete with anyone of those guys out there. Could I go to a BASS event and catch 30 lbs a day, nope. Could I go out and catch piles of barely legal fish, definitely.
  13. Id make a guess you used the metal pins for the weedguard hole instead of the Teflon Rods. And thats why there is some variance on the angles of your weedguard. Am I right?
  14. I'm moving out this way and went to the Roanoke River Overlook, off the Parkway. I've heard there are Largemouth and Smallmouth there, and I did see 2 carp. Mostly looking to walk the bank here and catch some fish with my girlfriend. Just seeing if anyone had any experience fishing here, or other close areas. Thanks
  15. That lure looks familar but can't think of the name. Riverside Bait Co, maybe?
  16. One of my favorites that hasnt been mentioned is the Gary Yamamoto Baby Craw
  17. I fail to see a problem
  18. Anyone know any updates on the South Texas place trying to grow the World Record? 3 years later some of those bass should be huge by now
  19. I only use a few colors, no matter the water color: Green Pumpkin Black/Blue Brown/Orange Dark Purple (Junebug Typically) I've never seen a water color those 4 colors didn't work in
  20. I'm in Virginia and we are supposed to get the same storm, but a day later. I'll be fishing Sunday, and I expect to water to be high and muddy, so I plan on fish up shallow in newly flooded areas. I'm planning on pitching a lot and having a squarebill crankbait getting some work.
  21. The Bluegill Deep Diver is just plain sexy!
  22. So the general consensus is Berkley baits are widely believed to make bass hold on to a bait longer then other brands. Megastrike also helps. I figured as much,as I do very well with the Chigger Craws. Thanks
  23. According to Berkley on their bags of baits, "Fish bite and won't let go". They also have a graph showing fish hold on up to 18x's longer then other baits. In my experience fish hold on to Berkley baits longer then other products but just by a small amount of time. I'm curious on everyone elses experience. I'm not specifying any particular bait, just the scent Berkley build into every bait. Do you love it/hate it/don't care, just curious on any info everyone has, as this really has been on my mind lately. Do anyone think Berkley baits in general outfish other brands, based on scent?
