  1. 4 years ago 9 lbs even Released
  2. If your using a swimbait or a crankbait, it better be a wakebait, as the deep spots look to be around 4 feet. I went out today and had a few bites on a Tx rigged worm, and a few dinks. Nothing special but I'll keep trying for a while
  3. If there isn't a sign posted, I'm fishing it
  4. My girlfriend loves throwing a fluke or a crankbait
  5. I just use Powder Paint, no problems at all
  6. Bassmaster by Shaw Grisby Fishing on the Edge by Mike Iaconelli Think Like a Fish by Tom Mann Bass Strageties by Kevin Van d**n Caught me a Big'Un by Jimmy Houston Those are my favorite
  7. Did you get any bass there? Any size? What did you catch them on? I'd like to give the place a try, it's just not really close to me so don't wanna waste my precious fishing time if there any much there
  8. If you do snorkel it, buy/rent a underwater camera to take pictures of everything you see (bottom contours, brushpiles, fallen trees, where fish are holding in different area's, etc) Those pictures will help you for years to come, and look great in a digital picture frame.
  9. Went there today to scout it out, and the lakes looks decent. Supposedly it was stocked with Bass, Catfish, Crappie, White Perch and Bluegill. Just curious is anyone has fished it before or had more info on the Bass fishing there. Seems very shallow. Edit: I'm refering to only the Lake at Northwest River Park in Chesapeake, Va
  10. I'm ok where I'm at. I always try to learn more, but I've progressed to a point where I'm very happy. I placed a goal or myself when I first started fishing to be able to catch at least a 5 bass limit of 2 lb bass every trip, and most days I can accomplish that. I'm also thrilled I just caught by 10th bass citation in Virginia to earn my Expert Largemouth Bass Angler status
  11. A small rapala crankbait (floating or countdown) small maribou jig Alabama rig (I can pull it apart and have 5 - 6 lures)
  12. I'm from Chesapeake too. Apparently there's a lot of us I stick to the smaller bodies of water nearby (Speight's Run, Prince, Western Branch, Cahoon, Meade, Lone Star Lakes, etc.
  13. I know a "retired" pro fisherman, he had quite a few big time sponsors, and he won a BASS tournament a few years ago. He prefished in practice, and found that the fiesh were hitting jerkbaits. During the tournament, he caught almost all his fish on a particular jerkbait. Laster Bassmaster showed a picture of the lure's he caught his fish on, and there were 2 baits in the picture, one was called a "unnamed lure" but was blatantly obvious it was a Smithwick Rogue (not a sponsor), the other bait was a other jerkbait (sponsored company). Later he told me that every fish he weighed in was on the Rogue, but still threw the sponsored bait occasionally till he caught a fish on it, so he could honestly say I caught all my fish on these 2 lures, when in reality, the only fish he caught on the sponsored bait was a 10" bass.
  14. A lighter or some other firestarter, because if I break down, get lost, etc and have to spend a night in the woods, I want fire 4x8 tarp instant shelter in a rain storm, and has a million uses the mini rolls of duct tape, because when would you not need duct tape
  15. The Gold one is currently in stock at Cabela's website
  16. Living in Chesapeake, I fish a lot in Suffolk. And was curious how many others are around the area. The lakes I fish the most are: Speight Run Lone Star Lakes Lake Prince I figured this would be more of a local thread, where we could talk techniques, lures, etc about the local lakes.
  17. I can't think of the name of the river/creek, but it runs thru Canton, Ga, kinda wiggles through the whole city. I used to live in a apartment on it, and caught a ton of spotted bass and such in it.
  18. Mind sending me this spreadsheet, it would sure help me out. Thanks! mrpokey00@yahoo.com thanks again
  19. Personally, I usually get a nice reel and put it on a nice rod, but the reel is the centerpiece of the combo. For instance, one of my favorite combos is a Revo on a rod I got at Bass Pro for like $30. Works great. But it all depends on your style of fishing. For me this is golden.
  20. I live in Chespaeake and I'm in Suffolk about 5 days a week fishing. Mostly I'm at Lone Star Lakes, as I know all the lakes there very very well. I'm more of a Quantity then Quality guy, though I did get another 23" bass this week for my 10th Bass Citation and Expert Angler Status Anyone wanna get out in Lone Star Let me know, I'd love to get a few guys together and have a small tournament one day.
  21. I'll usually switch out the hooks to similar sized Gamagatsu hooks, I'll occasionally move the hooks up one size, sometimes you can sometimes you can't, depends on the bait, and how it affects the action of the bait. You really can't go wrong fishing any of the below baits: Bomber Square A KVD 1.0 and 1.5 Square Bills RC 1.5
  22. I've been doing well lately on a local pond with a Bomber Square A and a KVD 1.0
  23. I've fished here a million times. Fish in Gatlinburg, right downtown. Use a single hook, spinner, I like brown and black, in 1/16 oz or so. Also small grubs work well. 4 lb test. Just walk from Christus Gardens twards the Gatlinburg beginning twards Pigeon Forge. I've done best by Twin Island Hotel, Christus Gardens and the park near Christus Gardens, Good Luck
  24. I pay $8/yr for my Bassmaster subscription. There's a guy/company on Ebay that sells 1 year subscription to almost all magazines Cheap. Currently I get: Field and Stream Bass Master Sports Afield In Fisherman Backpacker I think I paid around $20 for a 1 year subscription for all of those combined
  25. I'd be fine getting blindfolded for 5 minutes to catch 5 lbers. Now if someone wanted to blindfold me for more then that, not gonna happen
