Care to elaborate

I use monster lizards on bed texas rigged, anywhere from 8" - 12" ones. The bait is to big for the males, so they just keep attacking it but can hardly move it. The female seems to get tired of watching the male not do his job of protecting the bed and moves in to get the job done. It sounds silly but it's very effective.

About 4 years ago I would fish a small creek in Alaska for rainbow trout. The creek was shallow, averaging about 2 feet deep, but one particular spot had a hole about 6 feet deep. There would alwyas be a pile of trout in that hole, waiting on food to wash down to them. Well I was fishing the area with my girlfriend, and we were tossing inline spinners and small grubs catching fish when we came upon the deep hole. I decide I'm going to try and jig a small spoon in the hole. The side of the creek there was steep so I was a few feet higher then the water so jigging the sppon was very easy. Well I start jigging it thru the hole, and the current is washing the line downstream ahead of the lure, then I feel weight. I set the hook and reel the fish twards me. Upon trying to lift the fish out of the creek I notice the fish is upside down on the line and my spoon is 2 feet or so under the trout. The trout had somehow gotten tangled in the line, and the current just wrapped the line around him like a noose. A truly one in a million type of event

I've lived in Hampton Roads most of my life and mostly fishing the Suffolk lakes for years. In the last year or so, I've made a big effort to find bass water closer to my house. Google Earth has been my friend. I've now found about 15 lakes in Portsmouth and Chesapeake I'm catching fish in. Sadly I also found about 20 more lakes where fishing is prohibited Went out to one of the better lakes today and had a amazing day, caught 8 fish, and included in that was 3 different 7lbers and a 8lber (24 inches long). Just curious what unsual or unknown lakes other guys in the area are fishing. I'll start off with 2 lakes I've found: Dunedin Lake in Dunedin Park in Chesapeake off Taylor Rd Unnamed lake across from Western Branch Park on Portsmouth Blvd Coopers Ditch off Mt Pleasant Rd So what are some of the spots you've found in the area

I've never had any luck asking golf courses for permission to fish. It ALWAYS came down to them worrying about getting sued if you get hit by a ball. I've offered to sign a waiver, but they would still be worried about being legally responsible for any accidents. Good Luck!

My $.02, I bought a pair of 580G Costa's, cost a fortune! But they work fantastic, and I have 0 complaints about them. I had that pair break, I sent them back to Costa and they sent me a new pair. I sight fish a lot and quality glasses are a must, I wouldn't hesitate to get another pair (if I could afford them)

I like too use shorter rods for bank fishing, mostly 5'6" rods. It's much easier to cast around trees bushes and such with less rod

During the Spawn I like to throw 12" lizards. To big for the male to get out of the nest, so the female gets frustrated and comes in to eat it.

Years ago, I qualified for a 2 day tournament on Buggs Island for the 6 man tournament. I was like 17 years old and still pretty new to the sport. I was always excited to meet my partner to learn new techniques and such. In previous years, I had always had great partners that taught me a lot, and were just great guys, well this year was different. I attended the pre tournament meeting to see who I was paired with, and was kinda disappointed when I met my partner who had the appearance of a homeless alcoholic. He reeked of alcohol, slurred speech, and saying things that made no sense whatsoever. We agreed to meet before the tournament at like 4:30 am. I went back to camp and all the guys in my club talked about the tournament or their partners. They all said that my guy had issues, but would be fine during the tournament, as he was just probably trying to relax before the big tournament. Well tournament day arrives and I meet up with my partner and he's plastered. He had been drinking all night, and was in no shape to do anything other then fish. Not knowing what to do, I launched with him. We spent the entire day, weaving around the lake, constantly going from wide open to immediate stop, to sharp turns, etc. Even on the trolling motor, it was a rough ride. I couldn't wait for this tournament to end, and it was miserable. Looking back I should have never even gotten in the boat with this guy

For Virginia, I'd look into Buggs Island/Kerr or Lake Gaston, great fishing area

Lake Cahoon in Suffolk is the best IMO, also Burnt Mills would be really good

I'm skipping it this year, as I'll be making the drive to the Bassmaster Classic in SC

Here's what's in my panic box: 2 and 3 inch senkos (or knock offs) Norman Crappie Crankbait BPS Tender Tubes HD Trout Jerkbait Zoom Dead Ringer

In slightly stained water, I'll take a Zoom Super Fluke, and push a glass rattle in the front of the bait perpendicularly. The rattle looks like eyeballs, gives the bait some noise, and adds a little weight to the bait.

Lone Star has many lakes there: Finger - Probally the least amount of fishing pressure here, one of the bigger lakes, lots of shoreline brush and long sloping points Crane - Saltwater, fun for Catfish, Striper, and Redfish Butler Tract - Most popular lake there, most fishing pressure, best launch ramp, bass averaeg about 3 lbs, usually suspended Crystal - Very clear lake, holds HUGE BASS, very difficult to catch Annette - IMO the hardest lake to fish at Lone Star, just tough Rainbow - Smallest lake here, clear water, suspended bass, use soft plastics only Wahoo - Poor fishing due to fish kill from hurricane and was never restocked, seems no fish 12 inches or better Southern - Bigger lake, deep shorelines, little shallow water but when you find it, you'll find the bass

On average, you can expect you average fish at Lone Star to be about 2 lbs, but I've caught them as big as 9 lbs. All the lakes are different, some have better fishing then others. This time of year, it'd be tough fishing, but spring - fall, it can be outstanding. What part of Chesapeake are you in? Maybe one day this spring/summer, I can meet you at Lone Star and take you out.

Nice trout, mind if I ask what creek you fished? Looking for somewhere too visit in SW VA this summer for a few trout.

I agree with Lone Star Lakes. But don't expect to go out and do great immediately, you have to fish there a while to learn the ins and outs of the place, then you'll do great. The park is my favorite place to fish. I'm there at least once a week.

Here's a few places I fish in Hampton Roads. If you have a boat: Lake Prince, Lake Cahoon, Western Branch Reservoir, Merchants Millpond (NC) or Newport News Reservoir From Shore: Lone Star Lakes or take a day trip anywhere past richmond for some smallmouth in the creeks and streams

TSA is weird. Sometimes they have no problem with a carry on reel with line on it, sometimes they act like it's the end of the world. Same with lures, pliars, hooks, etc
