I have a 7' for shallow running ones and plan on buying at least a 7'6" rod for deep cranks this year. Personally I don't think the 7'10" rod is too big.
I am a big fan of the 10" powerbait worms. After trying some Netbait products last season I plan on adding the 11" C-mac to my list of worms to use this season. Can't beat the price on them that's for sure!!!
I used it all last season on both baitcaster and spinning reels. Like Roadwarrior said 6 and 12 lb works great. I did try using 15lb and it never did fish that great even with line conditioner on it.
I have heard nothing but great reviews of the BPS crankin rod. It will probably be the next one I buy for deeper diving crankbaits. I would get the 7' Medium rod to throw shallow divers and square bills. For the deep divers the 7'6" MH looks like a pretty good choice. I don't think the rating of fast action really means alot on these.
I have an assortment of Siebert's swim jigs that I plan on using this year. One of the colors is posted above and the other color is a bluegill color. I plan on using the Berkley Subwoofer and some type of crawdad bait for trailers. I have not picked out the colors yet.
This year I used 12lb yo-zuri hybrid line and it did really well for me. Next year I am changing up lines to try some new stuff. I plan on using 15lb Seaguar fluorocarbon.
Bass Pro's crankin' stick is supposed to be a pretty good one and it is priced at 79.99 but I think you can catch them on sale for a little cheaper. I use a Abu Garcia Veritas Winch model. It is a pretty decent rod. It runs 99.00 in some stores but can be bought a little cheaper on ebay sometimes.
As for the other rod.. I am a big fan of a 7'MH rod.
First off what is your budget for this set up? Do you have a favorite brand? I like the Veritas rods from Abu Garcia. They are nice rods and can be found for under 100.00 all day. Is this the best?? Maybe or maybe not. This is a question that only you can answer.
Go to your local tackle store and handle as many as you can. You are sure to find one that feels better than the rest. That is the one you need to buy.
Probably not the answer you are looking for, but you will have so many replies for different brands you wont be able to make up your mind!!
I feel the same way. I need to find someone to take me out and teach me how to fish. I fish with my father in law and we are both bank beaters. There are days where we may only catch one or two fish. Very rarely do we have days where we catch more than ten between the 2 of us. And most of those are under 15" It is really hard to stay positive going through the same motions every time we go.
My laptop at home is the same way. I have to log in every night when I get home. My work computer keeps me logged in all the time. Both computers are set up the same.
I am hoping to find some of those under my Christmas tree this year. If not, it won't take me long to go grab a few.
What's everyone's favorite color? I normally use the black/chrome the most.
I use the Abu Garcia Veritas 7'M rod ($99.00) and the Lews Speed Spool in 5.4 ratio (99.00) and it does a pretty good job. They do offer the reel in a 6.4 ratio also.
Not to hi-jack this thread, but I plan on taking advantage of this deal as well. When buying in bulk like that what is the shelf life of fluoro? After you spool up 3 or 4 how long does the rest of the line stay good?
I have that exact bag and it is way to big to sit on the co-angler side of the boat. When on my father in law's boat there is barely enough room to sit while running. I would probably stick with the large to give you some extra room. It still holds 6 boxes and the pockets hold a ton of stuff.
