  1. Man... it's just a fish. I wouldn't give up a friendship over a 4lb fish. You know YOU caught it. That is all you need to know.
  2. I sell used auto parts at a salvage yard in Kansas City. I have been here going on 13 years as of tomorrow.
  3. i need to pick up a couple new frogs this year. I will have to give one of these a try. When is the best time to start throwing them? Is it too early in the season?
  4. I have had 2 of these combos for over 3 years. I have not had any issues with them at all.
  5. I took my son fishing at a little lake this weekend. After getting our stuff ready I told him to be careful of the little trees right behind us. I told him to make sure he looks before he casts..... Well... my first cast of the day grabbed one of those little tiny branches and made one heck of a birds nest!! My son, he is 8, just look at me and while laughing said i should have looked behind me first!!
  6. I am from Kearney so I can probably guess where you were! Looks like a great day for sure!
  7. Sounds like one heck of a good day!! What lake were you on?
  8. I will be throwing pictures everywhere if I ever hook into a 10lb bass. People would be sick of seeing all the pictures :-)
  9. "LA CYGNE: 53 degrees at hot-water outlet, clear, normal. Outlook: Linn County Parks reports: Largemouth bass good (two 10-pounders and a 7-pounder were caught over the weekend) on crankbaits, white bass and crappies fair." Anybody here fish at Lacygne this weekend? Looks like some big fish were caught!
  10. oh man.. gotta work on Friday. guess i will have to stop on the way home. Hope there is a bunch left!!
  11. Thanks! I bet it is going to be super crazy there. I plan on going. I wonder if I should stop by Friday and grab what I want and then stash it somewhere so I wont miss out on anything?? LOL
  12. is the sale at Rogers going on now? the ad says thru 2-25?? 50 cents for netbait plastics... i am going to be all over this
  13. Great fish!!! Did you weigh it? tell us the story about it. I haven't been able to get out and it's killing me!!!
  14. I haven't used the Pro max by Abu Garcia, but I have 3 of the silver max reels and one black max and have had really good luck with them. I think either of your choices would be fine. Put some decent line on it and make sure you get everything adjusted right.
  15. I use both types. I catch some fish with both. If I got them for free, I would use tungsten all the time. Too pricey for me to buy in bulk. A long time ago the pros used to use lead weights and mono line only and still caught fish.
  16. Yes, they will blow up on it. Just make sure to wait before setting the hook. Make sure you feel them on the line first! I have had them blow up through thick moss and even huge lily pads. It is exciting and frustrating at the same time!
  17. A frog would be my first choice followed by a t-rig with 3/8oz or heavier weight. How deep is it around that tree?
  18. I took my 8 yr old out bank fishing at Smithville Lake yesterday morning. He ended up catching 3 fish. 2 bluegills and this really good sized drum. He caught in on a little white crankbait on a 6ft medium action spinning rod. It put up a really good fight that my son handled very well. This was his first time out that he did not use worms or minnows. Needless to say he spent the rest of the day rubbing it in that he caught bigger fish than I did.
  19. These were my #1 flipping bait the last 2 years. I use a 1/4oz weight and a 4.0 EWG hook. Flipping grass or timber worked very well. I used the summer craw color mainly.
  20. I don't have the patience to do this at all. I think A-Jay did this for awhile last year trying to catch some big ones. I am sure he will chime in and give some tips.
  21. Man I wish I could get off during the week!! I have fished Smithville Lake the last couple of weekends. We caught a few on top water walking baits but the majority were caught on square bills fishing main lake points. We have been catching bass, walleye, catfish, drum, white bass and even a crappie or 2. The biggest bass being around 4lbs. My father in law caught a 22" walleye. That was pretty fun to watch. if you guys haven't tried them yet, take a look at the new Berkley Pitbull square bill. We have been using the "gilly" color.
  22. I wonder how that would look on the Ned rig? Might be something to try out
  23. I also caught several on the all-new Half Shell which will be debuted at Icast. It’s a great compliment to a Dream Shot when dropshotting. It has its own unique profile and darting action. The Half Shell will be a huge player, especially on smallmouth fisheries. I used it solely in a bed-fishing capacity this week and would alternate through several colors until I found one that an individual fish would react to. This was on Strike Kings website that KVD talked about. Can't find any pictures though
  24. Thanks guys. We want to get out there soon and hope to catch some smallies.
