  1. Thanks Scott. Lake effect snow huh? Wow. Stay warm up there. I'll be on my way in about 48 hours, can't wait.
  2. Any updates on the spawn? Coming up in a few days. Thanks!
  3. Scott- Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Looks like you're getting it done despite the weather. Enjoy the rest of your trip. Good luck and be safe.
  4. If anyone has any current water temps in the Eau Claire area it would be much appreciated. And I apologize for having to keep asking for information here....it's just that I'll be up there next week but I live 12 hours away. Thanks.
  5. I appreciate the info Scott. I understand you are further north than I will be but it still gives me a ballpark idea of what maybe to expect. Thank you.
  6. Any updates on what you're seeing with the bass spawn? I'll be up there next week. Thanks.
  7. So what I've been reading about water temps, all over WI, it seems like LM's are probably either in early spawn or getting ready to get after it. Wonder what affect the cold snap early next will have? I'd prefer to have pre or early spawn conditions in 2 weeks but not sure that will happen.
  8. Hey A-Jay. When you say "normal", what does that mean for timing? The reason I ask is that I'm traveling to northern WI in 2 weeks and I'm curious what I'll be dealing with as far as the spawn goes. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
  9. Traditionally, I have used mono on my spinnerbait/crankbait set ups for the stretch, thinking this helps with the hook set on a moving lure. But I've been thinking about switching to braid. I love the feel and sensitive of braid, but my only concern is that the lack of stretch will hurt my hook up rate. Thoughts?
  10. Sorry for the delay. I'll be a little north of Eau Claire starting May 20th thru Memorial Day. Not my first time on this lake, which is a smaller lake, but I usually come up several weeks later than this year. Most years I feel like I am dealing with mostly post spawn conditions, just trying to gauge what it might look like a few weeks earlier. Obviously, I understand this will vary depending on the weather/temps but any insight would be appreciated.
  11. I'm coming up to northern WI in a few weeks and I'm hoping to get a pulse of the bass spawn leading up to my trip. I know it's a bit early now but if anyone can provide updates over the next few weeks it would be much appreciated.
  12. Ignore those clowns and move on. It's their problem, not yours. Those people are the exception, most people in the outdoors feel a brotherhood with others that enjoy it, regardless of what they look like.
  13. I have like $500 in gear and catch 500 fish/year. So I'm good. Kidding....let's not bring financial math into the ROI of fishing. My ROI comes with the experiences fishing has created in my life.....and the cost is what is....worth every penny.
  14. Congrats! Looked like a fun day on the water.
  15. Congrats!
  16. Originally from WI here but moved out of state about 13 years ago...still miss everything outdoors about the state. Make it up about 1 or 2 times a year to fish.
  17. Ok. I'll be up there next week. Guess I'll be dealing with spawn conditions. Was really hoping to get out before. Oh well....still better than working. Thanks for the update Scott.
  18. I like the sound of that knot.
  19. I use 30 lb Power Pro, which is 8 lb mono diameter. I've been conflicted on what knot to use ever since I started using braid. Everyone says use the palomar....but I really don't like tying it. Probably because I haven't used it that often and I'm not that good at it.
  20. I appreciate the input. I've used the Trilene knot with braid for a few years now, without any obvious issues. But I have read some have had "slipping" issues, like Scott mentioned. Last thing I want is to have a pig on and have the knot slip apart.
  21. Anyone else use the trilene know with braided line? Just wondering.

    Colors!

I don't always fish worms but when I do they're blue fleck
  23. The same guy can't always have the front of the boat. No "fresh water hogs".
