NCbassmaster4life said it perfectly. Watch your line. If ole bucketmouth hit your lure then he has it and isn't hanging around. Your line will start moving away. Reel the slack,set the hook and have fun. It takes practice. Gets real fun if you jig fish.

Oh another. Years ago Lake Okeechobee was really low and me and a couple friends were wading in about three foot of water trying to catch some shellcrackers. We were evenly spread out fishing and me of course i was out the farthest. I happened to look to my left to ask my buddy something when up popped a ten foot gator. He looked at me. I looked at him. We froze momentarily. Really didn't know what to do. We both decided to start walking backwards when he went under. Now i'm expelling waste. We just kept moving holding our rods ready to swing if needed. Not that could of done much. Suddenly he came up farther out. We high tailed it to the bank to fish.

Several years ago I was fishing on the bank of a canal just having a good time casting out when suddenly an otter came up out of the water right in front of me and scared the be-jesus out of me. He must have been searching for food because i think it scared him just the same. He went under and came up on the other side and went flying through the bushes. I just knew a gator had got me that day. My dad always said be alert. All this different stuff flashes through your mind.

I personally fish for fun. Not as a job or for consumption. So the equipment i use is going to be different then someone else who requires the better stuff. There is no doubt the high end gear is better but you use what you can afford. In the end its suppose to be fun.

Man i got to get down south to catch a peacock bass.

Hello i'm a new member from south Florida. I live a 1/2 mile from Lake Okeechobee. I am an avid fishermen and have been fishing passionately for around 30 years. I like to think i'm a well rounded fisherman but fishing for bass can be frustrating at times. We all have been there. My favorite fishing technique is flippin a jig. I try to fish often as i can which my wife says is too much.

Little late on the post but i agree with most of you. The carbonlite rods are extremely sensitive and well worth the cost. They definitely need to fix the micro guides but thats it. I have a couple of them with pro qualifiers of course. Can't be beat. My personal favorite is the 6'9"mh with a PQ for flippin a Denny Brauer.

Bass pro shops pro qualifiers can't be beat in that price range. I have them in all the gear ratios and have never had any problems.
