  1. I try to fish year round, only because its mostly warm where I live. Yet it does get pretty cold and I do get 'skunked' very often in the winter; but I just love to fish.
  2. What applications are you going to be using the reel for? Any brands/models your looking at? You also might check the flea market for a deal.
  3. I've seen people store them in Spinnerbait/Buzzbait Tackle Boxes. The only problem is it bends the weed guard a little more than I like, but you can see the color and head very well.
  4. The flea market is a great place as well! I saw some Curado G6's a while back for $85!
  5. I would go with something with magnetic brakes, just because the dual breaking system is a bit harder to learn. Centrifugal breaks would be fine too, but I suggest the magnetic brakes because they were easier for me to learn. Since his budget is $100, I suggest the Lew's Speed Spool ($99). It's at his budget mark, but it will last him a long time.
  6. I used to do that with more expensive lures, and I never had any problems. I could see it preventing a slip, but I haven't had it break on me with the square knot after the clinch.
  7. I'm excited about the Ghost as well, hopefully they will be just as good as the Micro Magic.
  8. I know how you feel, a particular creek that I fish has tons of trot lines, because the man who owns property on one side of the creek thinks he owns the place. He puts trot lines up and down the creek, and he leaves them there for weeks on end. Like Bluebasser86 said, "Common courtesy, isn't very common anymore."
  9. Definitely recommend the Ugly Stik, first rod I ever owned and I still have it to this day. Great multi-species rods.
  10. Spinnerbait for me!
  11. Late October to early November, I'm eager to get one too!
  12. I heard that it will come out late October or early November, that's what I've been told. I think the Micro Magic will be better just because of price comparison., but you never know.
  13. Zoom, Yum, or Berkley, are some good brands that are relatively cheap and work really great. I like the Zoom Finese Worm, Brush Hawg, Yum Dinger, and Berkley Havoc Pit Boss, and Devil Spear. I have a Berkley Lightning Rod Shock ($40) it's pretty good for the money, Diawa has a $50 rod called the Arrid, a friend of mine has one and he really likes it.
  14. I don't know about Shimano's lower end rods, but the Pfluger President is definitely worth the money. I've heard good thing about Hi Seas Line, cheap and it works well. Planos boxes are great, but if you want to save some money get Flambou's boxes they are cheaper. Unless you want the thin boxes to save space. I like all Rapala lures its just some of the lures are very expensive. Bomber and Norman make some good cranks that are cheaper and work well. That way of you buy some of the Bombers you can get some more stuff. Hope this helps!
  15. I'm way better with my Baitcasters than my Spinning reels. Just because I use them more than my Spinning reels.
  16. My thoughts exactly!
  17. Same for me as well.
  18. If I was you I would go with the Chronarch, just because I think the E series is better than the G.
  19. A Swimbait is a large lure that is used to imitate a bluegill, bream, sunfish, etc. they are heavy, large (some times small) they range from (the big ones) 6 in. to 18 in. ,maybe longer! There are smaller swimbaits that are 2 in. to 6 in. There is a category on the right side of Tackle Warehouse they have a ton of swimbaits to choose from and browse. Some people dedicate a rod and reel specially to Swimbaits. Hope this helps, Ben
  20. Ten pound test will be perfectly fine. If you want to fish heavier cover then I would get the 12# or 14# line.
  21. Lews over Shimano IMO.
