  1. I prefer use 5-7 inch senkos"rubber worms" and wacky rig them," wacky rigg" means when you hook them right in the middle, so when holding the hook up in the air the worm is even on both sides. strike kings are like $2.96 a pack and last long, gary yomomotos are my favorite but after a while they get to be real exspensive not to mention they are super soft and rip when you catch a fish, so i recently switched to "strikeking". The way i fish this bait is casting it where ever you think fish might be, reel in your line until tight but not to much so it effects the fall of the lure, then jigg it once or twice on the fall or on the ground. Most of my strikes are either on the fall or right after i jigg it. I have landed over 35 bass this season using this and a simple crank bait, crankbait is also one of my favorite lures, very easy to use as well as effective and efficient for catching big large mouth. My bigggest bass this season so far is 5lb 8 ounces off a 2.5 deep bomber crankbait. The main line i use is fluro carbon 8-10 pound test, alot of guys use braid but i think its overkill, and effects the bait to much for my liking, plus im from new jersey so the state record bass is under 11 pounds, and i could use 8 pound fluro with a 15 pound breaking strength and cast it twice as far as braid.
  2. 8 LB flurocarbon is the way to go. All i do is fish wacky rigged senkos, and the fluro helps in many ways. One bieng that it sinks, two bieng that its super light and you can cast it just about anywhere, and three bieng that is stretches so you can get a better hook set and its virtualy invisible to the fish, plus you can feel the fish hitting alot better then braid... i never use braid ever unless im fishing for 200 pound snapping turtles in my lake, and since i wacky rig my senkos i really dont find any use for it. I prefer to use the lightest setup possible for wacky rigging it gives me the best feel for that style of fishing
  3. ya thats what im worried about, i really would hate to buy this reel to find that every other time i cast i get bird nested and have to re spool
  4. I want to buy this reel for bass fishing, i like that its super light and apperently casts a "mile". If anyone has this reel and could give me a review on it that would be great. I like to run 8-10LB fluro because 50% of the time i use wacky rigged senkos or use crank baits, so please tell me what kind of line you use on this reel ty
  5. thanks for the posts, and im looking into every reel you guys mentioned, i want the stradic but after looking into it... it says that it reccomends 3,4 5 pound test and thats way to low to be fishing where i fish because the avg bass is 3 pounds! if this isnt true and anyone has any info on what line it takes please help. The patriarch looks really nice not sure about the brand though is it reliable?
