Well "Must be 18.." for the money at least is a good thing, that would have hurt if he was fishing with a Mustad. I went and registered for the contest, and picking up some hooks in the am. ( I'm looking for this fishes momma!)

WOW,who knew they would get this monster! Glad though, very exciting!

So much excitement over this big bass caught in a little town! The lake is land locked we are 12 hours from the coast. It took him 45 mins to get her in the boat. The last record one was caught in the same lake!! Can't believe it was on 10lb test! The boys fish all the time and swear there is a bigger one in there.

NC STATE RECORD FRESHWATER STRIPED BASS CAUGHT 3/31/12, CERTIFIED 66.1 LBS BY TYLER SHIELDS: AGE 17 OF MURPHY NC. CAUGHT IN LAKE HIWASSEE, MURPHY NC. USED BASS PRO TACKLE, INCLUDING 10 LB TEST LINE!!!!!!! He used a 10 pound Bass Pro Shop Tess line; excel fishing line and a Bionic Blade Open Face Rod. He caught this impressive fish using a black Zoom trip worm. They had it measured and weighed on a USDS Certified Scale at Interstate Welding. The measurements were 47.5 inches long, a 35 inch girth, and weighed 66.1 pounds. The previous record was set in 1991, weighing 54.2 pounds by Larry Verner in the same lake. The state record papers have been signed and made official.
