  1. Nope. Got all kinds stories n spots from this guy. Now I wouldn't head in towards downtown much farther. And if your fishing doctors especially your libal to catch just as many reds.....wait til it is hot n roll back up julington and hit the mats and pads. Here is one he told me they launched outta mandrin and they fish the grass line of the old folks home with the waterfall caught something like 15-20 to place pretty high. There's fish. I think if you stay back in like Clark's and durbin you would have too much trouble navigating. You ever drive from 13 julington creek road you can see all the small feeder creeks and people have small boats and docks.
  2. Get your friend to get it....non property owners aren't supposed to get it....HOA care about apperrance, property value etc. you trampling their grass catching the fish they stocked looking all recreational is unsightly. People unknowingly or uncaringly forked over their rights to hoas so a bunch of narrow minded clueless nit-wits because they are too lazy to cut the fricken grass or to busy to take off work wait for the bug guy. HOA aren't good but they ain't going away and laws/rules are laws.
  3. Well we fish our community pond as do others, it really boils down to a few things. Where you are is under HOA rules, read the written rule book if it is not stated in there then you need to default to signage. If there are no signs or they are not clearly visible then you are ok for now(like with me I told them that one time, there are no signs and this is a community pond then the signs will show up if it that big a deal). Now when someone tells you to leave you can tell them to show you the signs, you read the rule book etc. as far as calling the cops it is an HOA property not a homeowner I dunno who actually would have to call them the HOA president or what, techincally your not tresspassing if it is your(firends whatever as long as one of you live there) community and in a HOA governed area. But once they post or clearly post the sign or write that rule then your done, they have ground to ask you to leave, fine you with an hoa fine, or call the cops. But I am not a lawyer just defaulting to common land development practices so take my words with caution, read the community rule book first before you go back out. When you go back out check for signs and stay out of peoples back yards. Backyard you should be good but it can depend and they can get technical with it if they want. If there is an easement, the property ends prior to edge of water or a clear mow strip then they may/can say it is in there jurisdiction and no fishing.
  4. Not such a thing. You were either on the HOA's property or in the right-of-way owned by the local government jurisdiction or FDOT. Here in FL being in land development I have the knowledge of the SWM maintenance agreements and such. 9 out of 10 the ponds and an easement around them go to the HOA and fall under HOA rules. There are some HOAs around here that post signs "no fishing behind homes" so you can fish but only the sides of the pond not built on. FWC even tells if the water was navigable in 1854 then anyone can be there, if it was dug out or made after that then people of the community or sole person on a canal can put up signs and it is considered private and you cannot fish. My point is to educate you so you won't get in trouble. your young and last thing you and your friend need is a trespassing charge. Read the Florida statutes on the subject, when it becomes hunting or fishing and if you(or they say you take) fish/game from private property it can get serious really quick. I pond hop around here, No fishing signs I don't bother, If there are no signs but I get asked to leave then I don't come back, this happened once, and the signs were up in a week. Hope yall find another sweet spot to fish and stay out of trouble.
  5. Yes back durbin and julington nothing but pads and mats, pics from google earth, in there. confrimed by a buddy at work has a boat fished tourneys, working man, also told me spots from madrin park and doctors lake.
  6. Think your thinking of the of the law school bud. Your two amigos SHOULD know. So confusion on the particular pond but any on that road is al right
  7. My ol lady and me are going on 10 yrs. She has better things to yell at me about than that
  8. Mind sharing brand and weight?....,Lou swears by the gold shiner Booyah spinnerbaits. I have yet to buy into the hype but another one for the color is making me interested
  9. BPS Carbonlite is a great rod for $100 bucks. Both casting and spinning, customer friendly warranty too Spinning reels, pflueger are unbeatable but I have seen the energy PT going for under 100 at cabelas. Baitcasting reels, I have an exceler the older model nice reel, not my favorite but it is pretty good. Daiwa makes the cabelas prodigy reels look for deals. I hear but haven't used the pro qualifier is one of the best bang for buck at 100.
  10. I have used anything from 10 pound mono to 30 lb braid. Right now I am mainly using 30 lb no leader
  11. The champion 734C is what I have and I am really loving it for the t-rig and spinnerbaits(my favorites things to do). I talked with Needham, the resident dobyns guru, he was spot on with his assesment. 1/2 spinnerbaits, and 3/8 jig plus trailer and t-rigs are great on this rod (It will handle a stick bait and fluke too) but if you need to go heavier(1/2 jig plus trailer) go with a 5 power.. If I went with the avid I would go MH for the stuff mentioned above......
  12. I just got a champion. I would have to say champion first choice, avid second. The finish and little details are nicer on the dobyns, the avid is more of a plain jane workhorse. I feel the champ fishes a little light to its power rating imo where as I hear the st. croix fish heavier. Only held a st. croix in the store, both feel very light and great. Don't think you can go wrong either way.
  13. Nice fish man!
  14. Been 80's last two weeks here , thought all the rest of the places had warmed up too.
  15. war eagle for "specialty" colors. but if I am throwing a white or white/chart then I have been using either BPS or H20 because they are cheap, effective and easily replaceable.
  16. How's the car? Yet to see pics?
  17. Bandit got himself a really nice fish...big ole mouth on her (typical) j/k congrats to him.....I have fished many a spot for 6-12 mos catching nice fish then finally you get a SUPER NICE one.
  18. 6' casting and 6'-6" for spinning.

  20. He sold me a 734C fished it today for the first time. It is awesome, but the price and customer service was even better!
  21. That sucks man
  22. What type knot? Use palomar with a little extra tag end. If your not careful it can slide through the split ring very easy.
  23. Striper aka rockfish are a nice white meat. Big fillet pieces(think salmon squares) baked or breaded and fried very versitile on prep. Blues are oily, when we eat it cut into small pieces and do a cornmeal dredge and fry like fish tenders....or smoke it in a smoker if an option.
  24. Anybody throw the flappin daddy like this? Can't beat getting these bulk I am about to order. I try em out. The why not and mega daddy might work too.
