  1. Yeah my dead spot was third base. Have Zimmerman, traded for chipper, luckily some dumb4$$ dropped headly. I also had Beachy, picked paulino up, now they are done. Is it just me or is everyone and their brother getting tommy John this year? Shoot I think I might need it from casting and reeling too much lol
  2. Tell it like it is Goose !.... http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/goose-gossage-new-york-yankees-says-rogers-clemens-does-not-belong-in-hall-of-fame-062212
  3. OUCH!...that has to hurt a lot of fantasy owners. his production was down to begin with....
  4. It is their eggs that are toxic to humans. Their meat is edible, know a guy in LA. that would catch them and take them to market. He would fill an old luandry detergent jug with that spray in foam so it would float, hook a big fat salt water hook on it and cut bait. Then a few hours later pick the jug up by the handle, and a .22 to the head he would have an 80 pounder said most where like in the 40's - 50's and take it to market. He was telling me the meat is really good eating but you cannot freeze it, it turns to mush when it thaws so any gar meat you get is usually caught same day.
  5. Check out Blazin Reptiles it is on San Jose just past the target on the left if u are heading towards Jax(north) they sell all kinds, has camans and water monitors. They also got these"Bengal cats" it is a cross between something wild and a domestic cat, like them wolf hybrids, and a lemur in the store too. Cool place to see all the off the wall stuff, like a free trip to the zoo. Lol
  6. Ok cool, I have yet to try other frogs out, might get some rage toads or something and see. I will see what is going on in Oct. might be going to Orlando with the family, we usually make it down to WPB in Nov.
  7. Nice catches man! Keep em coming, I am gonna make it down there and get some of those snakeheads one time What kinda line u pull the 33 in on? All zoom frogs?..,.,speaking of frogs u ever go frogging? No pics of that? Lol
  8. That sucks I thought it was part of that park. You see that a lot up in Chantily, here in jax very rarely are there "no fishing" signs posted. But in all honesty I have been to a ton of places, the rte 50 boat ramp, lake Frederick etc that have been absolutely trashed.
  9. Yeah I saw one from a ways off. Spent 15 minutes not spooking it. Was like screw it walked over to the culvert n it was a grass carp. First n only one I ever seen in the pond lol u better make sure u ain't seeing carp lol
  10. Nice catch there AK, you must have switched the reels back lol man I am gonna start hanging out in your part of town lol I haven't been able to get up to my spots lately just been fishing publix had a decent one bout 3 pounds break off on Monday but you are pulling out the 4's and 5' left n right lol
  11. You ever fish lake Frederick? It is off 340 and 66 near front royal. That place is nice, u can get war mouth 8-10 inches, and hit a slab of crappie too in addition to bass. That is my fav lake up in va but beaver is nice too.
  12. About a quarter mile down that road from the parking just before the power lines to the right is a cove with reeds, u can fish a big rock at the back of the cove or if you pass it right to the right there are paths through the woods, you can pop out on rocks above and that cove is reedy and rocky lots of cover. The paths with take you out to a main point and you can follow the shore around to another cove that is flatter and shallower. good fishing all through out there. I have also been out to the dam too, it is a hike but good fishing, depends on where the water level is and where the fish are holding though. get some off and you won't have to worry about the ticks LOL It is a nice quiet area.
  13. I can tell you as a civil designer there have been times when a fountain is required by jurisdictions in ponds for that very reason, add oxygen, and current to promote a current and healthy pond instead of a stagnet storm water cesspool. So I would guess u assumptions are correct. Yes do believe you would want to go weightless and let the worm or fluke float a bit under but not down on the bottom, use the current that is made.
  14. It is on the other side. Look where wax pool dead ends to 650 by the reservoir and follow wxpool back to where it does a 90 bend. There is a ball field there and an old farm pond. I never got a chance to fish it. But the couple if buddies who grew up there said it is a pretty good spot. They also said u can park at the end of mt hope road or in the church lot and access the reservoir from that side. Have u fished it before?
  15. They are already starting the HOF talk. Load of crap, hope he never gets in, that era ruined the sport Stan, Hank, Mickey, Frank, Brooks and other greats created.
  16. Me and a buddy fish a place where one of the ponds has a fountain. Now I never fished it, but my buddy has caught blue gills and bass out of it. He sometimes will cast into the area of disturbance with I think he said a fluke. Also seen the neighborhood kids pull a decent one out on a live bluegill under a float. It is a fairly small pond too(.25 acres) so the ripples affect almost the entire pond. He has hooked up to a 4 pounder.
  17. Zoom trick worm in red shad or Grande Bass rattlesnake in June bug red flake rigged weightless. They will usually get me a bite or two when nothing else is.
  18. Beaver Dam Creek Reservoir http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/fishing/waterbodies/display.asp?id=17 also use the site this site to look by county and find spots. Beaver d**n was closed to boat traffic a while back so it is main shore fished and kyak fished. rocky and has plenty of cover. there is a dam down stream that can be fished, also if you are googling it there is a park nearby that has a small pond that can be fished, friends told me about it and further on the old route 7 bridge and across new route 7 there are trails. you can wade fish. Same friends told me fountain head is good too, but heavy pressure. I have also fished some of the ponds in south riding, off the main road oppsite loudin cnty parkway at the intx with 50. the ponds back there hold sunfish and largemouth. If you feel like traveling, you have lake brittle in gainsville/warrenton area. Travel out to the country go to W Thompson wildlife management area and fish lake thompson. or Lake Frederick, (highly recommend) You also have the shenendoah off 50 and in front Royal and not to mention the upper Potomac. I lived out in winchester and worked in chantilly so traveling 30 to 60 minutes to get to lakes was norm if not fishing the rivers.
  19. I fish the same general strategy. I am curious as to what light condition/time do you consider the switch from top water/morning to t-rigged/midday setup for you all? Me personally been 5-6 to 6:15ish am on the top, then on when the sunlight is up I have better luck switching to a weightless fluke or worm. I only get to fish from whenever I get up until about 7 am now that the boy is in school. Just wondering if some of yall would fish top water the entire time?
  20. Forget about the extraordinary large perch, look at the giant bottle of beer! It is as large as a 5 gal bucket!!! Where do you get ur 6 packs at Capt.?lol ...nice fish by the way
  21. So what's the deal with the bass that have the eyes turned down? I watched a vid and they consistently were turned down the the guy was saying because they were bottom feeding on crayfish. So wouldn't that indicate the strike zone floating versus dragged depends on the type of forage the fish are feeding on? Would a bass with the turned down eyes strike a dragged bait more readily than a floating?
  22. This post is right on the money And to add a zoom trick worm works well from shore in the heat.
  23. Started out similar, once I started using plastics they are my go to. Zoom trick worms T-rig weightless or with a 1/16 bullet weight and a super slow retrieve. Also love the grande bass rattlesnakes same way, they have a smaller length, and a nice wiggle. Zoom flukes and toads are also some of my favorites. Culprit ribbon tail worms work nice too. I do all my fishing from shore as well
  24. Thanks! Yeah we always have a good time, if it ain't fish they are catching something at the fishing hole, frogs, tadpoles, grasshoppers lol
  25. I can agree with nitro, once they get bit they can learn more than u. He watches fishing shows, reads bass magazine. I let him pick his own lures but will make suggestions on why it will or will not work. They are sponges they will soak up the knowledge.
