Will Texas rigged worms I go weightless mainly, a 3/0 or 4/0 hook. If you pick up bullet weights, 1/16 and 1/8 are the only sizes I use. Ak said he heard the pond near the ER has bass. Think there is a medical office building on the other side. I don't know if he fished or not. Academy sell grande bass, they have trophy hunter but no junebug. There is a pond if you go to the end of bartram park blvd turn right onto race track and right past the cemetery where the road narrows to the right there is a pond. I fished it Thursday. Hit the grass with a top water, I was using a zoom toad. Work the edges of the grass with that crank or a spinner bait. And I got luck working worms in and around the edges of the grass. Also check out Losco park, the abandon subdivision to the left going towards race track but it is really weedy right now, the clear one produce nothing, the other a buddy pulled blue gill out and there is one further in the woods never fished it. The ponds on racetrack across from the dog track, little hard to access but top water strikes abound there. I have also seem people fishing the pond in the business park but I have ever got anything. I hear the ponds in julington creek and area are great but never fished any, ask AK that is his expertise. Also the business park near the hospital. Seen folks fishing but i havent had luck in a couple trips but there are alot of ponds back there only tried 3. Best bet is that first one I gave you, been twice and caught fish twice.

Congrats on the fish. Man my last two times there it kicked I disagree. When the algae goes away the culverts behind kohls r nice to fish. The other side by Bonos I pulled out 3 and 4 pounders before so there are so decent fish in there, keep at it. I probably won't make it tomorrow, been out 3 days this week. Maybe next time man.

Agree with you guys. I used to really like them with Atlanta and the winter games but since I found better hobbies like drinking, fishing and having kids, it just seems boring. I used to have the winter Olympics game for that hand held sega thing lol My wife is trying to get my oldest amped up so I am not gonna poo-poo on it, I am sure the lack of excitement will do it for me. They need to get some MMA, boxing they wear head gear even that takes the fun away. Lol

What is the most effective way to work it? I never get bit when I use them, I have hopped them, continous retrieve at different speeds. What works for everyone, where am I going wrong?

After some bass-Alwards moves and maxing out at the 5 per I was able to pick him up too! Thank heavens lol still hanging on to Myers til my DLs come up hope for reed to fail.

Thanks and good luck man. I think today should be good. I think the no moon and the temps are back into the normal range. Seems like the high 80's low 90's don't phase the bass around here too much. But by the end of the week they supposed to be up in the mid to high 90's so they might go back to deep sleep mode. The water was clear and the fish were very active, carp, bluegills and LMB(schools of small to bigger) were swimming all over once the sun came up over the trees, before that it was dead.

To add to what Rockchalk said shorter rod is easier to do top water techniques like popper and walk the dog style lures.

That doesn't matter, you can use them open water too. Look into it there was a good artilce in bass master magazine two issues ago with dean rojas - the frog king. maybe try a spro popping frog, combines your favorite with a frog. My favorites are a rebel pop-r, buzz bait, jitter bug and zoom horny toad.

Took my oldest out for some before school bass'n and we (I hooked and handed it over - he caught it LOL that is the way it should be right ) landed this, checked out a few hairs over 2 on my cheap scale. saw many schools, after we hauled this one in a group of similar size swam by and some massive carp. Found out what they were eating as this guy had some fish in his gullet. d**n near swallowed the hook and worm. but by the time we located them and reeled this one in it was time to go. Still good way to start the day, way things seem to go in this pond you would never know you were in summer.
