The problem in there lies with people putting in warranty claims with rods that are 10+ years old. We had a old Clarus come in the other day that was 5+ years old and we had to honor the warranty. In all reality if a rod is going to break due to manufacturer defect it will happen the first few times the rods on the water. The main reason for proof of purchase to honor the warranty is to weed out the folks buying used rods off Craigs list ect. breaking then and then asking for a warranty claim.
The green is hit or miss some will like it other won't, similar to the red Cumaras. I don't know how they will pair aesthetically with the Lews but I can say they do look great with a new Curado I
