  1. caught these boys carolina rigging for the first time yesterday 3lbs & 2lbs 4oz
  2. Ah Jeff you got me thinking now... I'm leaning more towards the 764c because of the weights ill be mostly throwing. As for line you guys like fluorocarbon with mono leader? Or fluorocarbon with lighter lb fluorocarbon leader? And obviously for reel you'll want something that can pick up that slack quick. Any line recommendations as well? I like Sunline FC Sniper fluorocarbon a lot, but that's just me.
  3. Thanks guys, I'm a huge dobyns fan, just about all my rods are dobyns champions with a couple champion extremes. I just wasn't sure which power to go with for this technique. I don't want to regret going with to much of a stiff rod with the heavy power action. but this rod is going to be 1/2oz plus for fishing offshore humps and what not. But do I go with a MH that's a little more forgiving? I absolutely want between a 7'3" - 7'6"
  4. Hey guys, What do you prefer for a Carolina rig rod.. 7'3" - 7'6" MH or Heavy ? I'm not going to be throwing anything under 1/2oz. I was looking at duckett micro guide series and the dobyns champion series. Having a hard time between the two powers.. Also what tip is appropriate for this technique fast? Thanks, -Zildjian
  5. Thanks Glenn! Appreciate your help with the power pole selection! It's been awhile since we talked about adding one, but I finally got it on my boat.
  6. It's the Pro Team 190 TX 2011 model with 90HP Mercury Optimax motor.Thank you!! You should I can't explain how fun and easy these upgrades make fishing out on the water. I was a little overwhelmed at first with the humminbird unit but once you know what your looking at and take time understanding how the unit works and put on the proper settings on your unit... Man oh man it's a field day out here on the water. The power pole makes life so much easier... These two upgrades are completely worth it. Next for me is to upgrade my Motor Guide Pro Series 54lb thrust 12v trolling motor to a 24v 80lb Minn Kota Maxxum. Thanks again for the comment!
  7. wanted to add a picture up of where my power pole hydrillic pump was mounted.
  8. Thank you! I actually choose the starboard side because I wanted my transome port side clear of any obstruction while on plane... also for the overall balance of my boat while cruising around the lake, because most of the people i take out over weigh me and to add an additional 31lbs to the port side didn't seem reasonable. Btw this power pole and 1198 is incredible.
  9. Thanks Wayne! That idea was from you lol thanks again for all your help!
  10. So just a little lower... and That's just for on plane depth readings right? Because so far I'm getting excellent views with this unit.
  11. My check list so far as what i'm going to need for the change out from 12v - 24v trolling motor as of now, please let me know what i need to add to this list. Trolling Motor: Minn Kota Maxxum 24v 70 or 80lb Thrust OBC: Dual Pro PS3b or MK 345PC (3 bank Chargers) Circuit Breaker: 40 or 50 amp. also mounted close to batteries Gauge Wire: i'm not sure what my current gauge wire is. may need to run new wire either 6g or 4g. Batteries: need to buy a third. and unsure which battery to buy for this setup of 24v along with replacing my current 12v interstate batteries i have one cranking/starting 24M-XHD 12v and one Deep Cycle/Cranking SRM-27 12v
  12. Thank you guys for all the comments!! I'm now just trying to figure out step by step what I need to make the change over from 12v to 24v... I like the 70lb thrust Minn Kota Maxxum maybe even the 80lb. Thinking about either the Dual Pro PS3 OBC or the Minn Kota MK 345PC. Also for my batteries, i will by a third battery but which battery is recommended for this setup? I just have the 2 12v interstate batteries as of now. Wasn't sure if I need to buy two new ones for the trolling motor and keep my cranking battery the same. Just a little confused about that...
  13. I was looking at these Minn Kota chargers... Any suggestions on which one? (Digital On-Board) Model: MK 330D 3 bank 10 amps per bank 30 amps total output Model: MK 345D 3 bank 15 amps per bank 45 amps total output ( Precision On-Board ) Model: MK 345PC 3 bank 15 amps output per bank 45 amps total output As for batteries these are the two that I have as of now.. ( Interstate Batteries ) Cranking/Starting 24M-XHD 12 Volt Deep Cylce/Cranking SRM-27 12 Volt
  14. hey guys, just wanted to ask a couple questions... I want to swap out my Motor Guide 12v for a Minn Kota 24v... what lb thrust do you guys recommend i go with for my size boat? i have a Bass Tracker PT 190 TX. 18' 7" Aluminum. I wasn't sure if you could actually over power the boat with too much lb thrust. Does anyone recommend a specific model Minn Kota? As of now i have a 2 bank 4 amp on board battery charger, does this need to be upgraded to something bigger when i add a 24v trolling motor to the mix like a 3 bank charger and add an additional (third) battery? thanks for the help, -Zildjian
  15. Thank you!! Hah oh it got dirty! Wayne, where should I put the transducer for on plans depth readings?
  16. Hey Guys, Just wanted to post an update of my Tracker that had some work done this week. Added a Power Pole: Pro Series ll the 8ft Model, Humminbird 1198c Si attached to a Ram Mount model: RAM-D-111U-C. Also, I wanted to say Thank You to Clackerbuzz for recommending King Marine Outboard for the installations and maintenance on my outboard. They did an excellent job! It took me some time to find a great place to do the work. Which, I couldn't be any happier with these guys... Awesome shop, extremely clean work and very knowledgeable employees. I appreciate it. Also wanted to thank Wayne P. on the boards here for all his knowledge and helping me make my decisions. Here's some pictures...
  17. yeah this pike on a kvd 1.5 crank lol so random
  18. awesome fish
  19. Yeah I haven't even seen beds... It's horrible. I guess I'll just keep grinding it out.
  20. Thanks guys appreciate it
  21. Took my buddy from work out today on my local lake.. From 8am-2:30pm only thing we caught was a tan. I couldn't find the bass.. I don't know why it was so difficult today.. Didn't see the bass shallow or on any of the drop off ledges that i usually always hook up a few fish at. Bummer day! I need to become a better fisherman... Anyone else having a hard time out on the lake?
  22. Thank you guys for all your input!! Really appreciate the replies.. I'm going to go with the Shimano Sustain FG 2500 Reel and most likely the Dobyns DX702SF with 10lb Power Pro Super Slick Braid with 8lb leader of Sunline FC Sniper fluorocarbon line.
  23. I think I'm going to go with the 2500 size Sustain FG... I'm not sure about the size of the drag washers compared between the 1000 vs 2500 model reels if they are smaller or same size. What else is the 1000 size reel designed for? since I'm only using this for light weight drop shot fishing. Is it just better to go with the larger reel?
  24. That cumara rod is itching into my mind now... I doubt it, but does any one own both the Cumara 7'2" and DX702SF? Or ever fish both for drop shots?
  25. I'm doing 10lb braid 6 or 8lb fluorocarbon leader. Just nervous the 1000 reel would be to small. But I'm only using it for drop shot 1/8 oz -1/4oz weights nose hooking small plastics in shallow water. Just don't want to make a mistake with reel choice. I decided on the DX702SF for my rod.
