  1. It does fee like home here. Good people and good advice. I am excited to see what kind of posts and pictures come up on the boards now that the warm weather is coming in. Joe
  2. Cool thanks! I had a feeling it wash off. Just wanted to be sure though. :-)
  3. I have a bag of the "scented" green speckled worms from either Gulp or Zoom. (I put them in a Ziplock bag for easy use so I do not have the original label) A friend of mine told me to put a bunch of salt and pepper in the bag, shake it up, and leave it in the bag in my tackle box for a few days to "marinate". I already did this about a week ago and am getting ready to try it out on Friday morning. Has anyone done / heard of this and if so, what bnefits if any does it do? Thanks! - Joe
  4. You all have been a TON of help. I am ready in the next couple weeks when my schedule allows to go out there and try to fish real early in the am and see what I can set there. Until then, I am more than content catching some good bass in the daylight hours as practice. :-D - Joe
  5. Cool. I was wondering what they could and could not see when it is dark.
  6. I'm glad you asked because I was wondering that too. I wonder if I could use my big flashlight ? Or just moonlight ? Good question crank bait.
  7. Yep! Those color worms are usually winners. :-)
  8. I was wondering how many people bass fish early am or later in the evening when it is dark? I know it would be cooler temps outside with the water temperatures still warm. Are bass real active when it is dark? And do they have a harder time seein the lures, or is their vision really good? Thanks! - Joe
  9. Nice lookin' bass!!!! Good color too. :-)
  10. Welcome. I started bass fishing the beginning of this year and I found this website. The people here are very knowledgeable and friendly you will enjoy it.
  11. Well said paxamus! You are right about the family, my wife and daughter love it. People sometimes forget how relaxing the outdoors is.
  12. Awesome! Yeah med school is tough, but I want to be a doctor soon. Fishing is s great stress reliever and is tons of fun. :-)
  13. Always good to share a good picture of a big catch too. Hoping for a big one tomorrow!!!
  14. Since I took up fishing the beginning of this year I have been on a couple other forums besides this one. They were filled with many arrogant and obnoxious people. Caught flak from a lot of new fisherman questions I posted. This website seems to have more mature and friendly people. Very informative as well. Took my wife and our five-year-old daughter out on the water yesterday for the first time. The weather was perfect and we had a blast. Thank you again for all of your encouragement as I learn the sport. Being a med student gives me a very busy schedule and fishing is a great way for me to relax. Joe
  15. I really like what was said about trying crank for about 15 min, then move to slow worms , then try another area if that still doesn't work. :-)
  16. Here is something I have been wondering as a new angler. My favorite local lake has a perimeter with a lot of structure overhang and obviously a deep center. How long do I stay in a certain area anchored down before I move. My average time on the water on fishing days lets say is 4 hours. If I was thinking find four spots and stay there an hour each. Also, if I catch one in a certain spot is it better to stay there or try to get more somewhere else. My objective is not to spend 4 hours in one place and get nothing but a tan. Lol. Joe.
  17. That makes sense. The last thing we all want is a broken line and a lost lure out in the water. :-)
  18. I saw on a YouTube video of a guy making a typical clinch knot. He said with that style of knot and really any other it is a good idea to "wet" the line with either spit, or water from whatever body of water you are fishing out of. He did this right before he pulled the line tight. Why is this? To make it get tighter? or can it actually loosen it prematurely? - Joe
  19. Thanks whitwolf. Had a great time with the family today, weather was perfect!!!
  20. Cool! I am originally from Holbrook, NY.
  21. Thanks for the info and also the video links some posted. I really like the video info especially on YouTube. There, you can see in real time how these are tied and the best ways to do it. A ton of info on the web is available for fishing. :-) - Joe
  22. I can't remember how many lured I lost in high school when I tried fishing a few years ago. I just did a double knot similar to a shoelace string lol. Obviously since I started fishing for real I learned to get away from that. Thanks for the advice all. ;-) joe
  23. I will have to check that out. I love to read about different ways to improve my fishing skills. ;-)
  24. Since I started fishing the beginning of this year, I have used a clinch knot (the whole 7 twists and loop through the hole one) on all of my lures. Are there any advantages or disadvantages to staying with this knot? I see all over the web, YouTube, etc. of people using different knots for different lures. Any input is appreciated. - Joe
