When I am looking for the electronic, is the "side scan" option called "side scan" or broadband, or something different? Just so I know what to look for to make sure the unit has more than just the straight down view.
I have been doing my research today. I never knew how much is involved with the electronics part of fishing. Very interesting and not too complex. Simply put, if you want more features, then the price goes up LOL. At least that is what I found so far. I really am interested in the side scan option too. :-)
Man that's up there in price! LOL Well, here is my situation. I won't get my real "bass boat" probably until Spring of 2014. Right now I just have a John Boat with a motor and no electronics. I had (and returned) a Humminbird 110 FishinBuddy. It was not really accurate. It had all of the ease of install and stuff but I wanted something in color. If I had to stay in the price range of 300-500 what can I get that is a step up from that? I want the basics of water temp and depth, but I want two main things over the 110. First to have it in color would be great. Second would be to see a clearer picture of the structures like drops, trees in the water, and the actual fish.
A price range for me is like 300-500 bucks. I want it to be able to show me a distinguishment between a bass and my lure. Also in that price range will it come with the transducer?
I hope I have this in the correct thread section. :-)
What is the best lowrance or humminbird model for me as a fish electronic. I want it in color, able to see the fish, see the lure, water temp, depth, etc. just like the ones I see on FLW and the pros use.
So what do you guys tell people that say "fishing is just luck"? I tell them it is over 90% skill with countless equipment and weather variables. Does 90% sound right to you all? Just my opinion. ;-)
That makes sense. The word "pattern" is a good point to remember I see. For example, there is a huge pond we fish with a John boat. It is about 3 football fields in size. It has drops, downed trees, drastic depth changes, all that stuff. You think a pro could figure that pond out cold turkey quicker than one of the FLW college guys? I'd say so because like the above post mentions they have more experience. :-)
I've been skunked in the past at a pond or a lake after some time on the water. I have said to myself, "if a pro like Kevin Van Dam or Bill Dance were here could they catch some bass?" Question is could they use their skills to find the fish better than someone less experienced? Like the FLW had a college tourney the other day. If Mike Iaconelli and Chris Lane were a team, would they smoke the college boys? What exactly makes the pros that much better? I'm asking seriously. :-)
Just FYI I am watching an episode of bill dance right now. He has legitimately casted and set the hook on every fish. He also has been using the same boat here for 30 minutes. I did not see a diver or one snorkel. :-)
That video is awesome. Lol. So I have to ask the age old question. What percent of his bloopers are real and what are staged? Most if not all look real to me.
I DVR his show all the time. He is awesome. I've seen the bloopers on YouTube before too. Lol. I didn't know he had that many top 10's. also as mentioned he makes plenty of money from all the 40 plus years of his show. :-)
Bill is my favorite angler. His show has on forever and he always catches huge fish. Why didn't he do the Bassmaster Classic? If he did, why bit more than he did? He seems to have several boats and plenty of gear and knowledge. I wonder if he just dedicated his time for his show?
