  1. Why are they having it in February? It's a little cold still. Is it in February every year? And also what determines each year's location? Thanks!
  2. True. I don't need a drag boat. Lol
  3. Trailer that sounds like a great idea!
  4. The seats will be covered. Will make sure my buns don't burn. Lol
  5. Thanks Rumslo! Looking at some electronics today. ;-)
  6. Walmart has a set of seats that actually mount to the benches. They are like big covers but they are sturdy. May give them a try. :-)
  7. I sold my canoe to get this project started. Im glad paddling is in the distance for me. A motor is cool. I bet a gas motor is even better but I'm content. I do have a paddle just in case the battery runs down. :-)
  8. Hopefully that will cool it down some. :-)
  9. I found some seat covers at Walmart.
  10. Awesome! How much better does it look now? Man that was a ton of sanding. Lol
  11. Some people told me I could put a gas motor on it and mount the trolling motor up front. Is this possible? If so what size has motor? Do I need two batterie? Or does the gas one just run on gas?
  12. 10 foot. I'm happy with it. You guys saw what I started with so I'm proud of what I made it become. Lol. My wife likes this look better too. ;-)
  13. Well, it isn't a super expensive bass boat but it is my first project and it floats and doesn't leak. Got it from a friend of mine for pretty cheap. Put several hours of sanding, prep, paint, and clear on it. Got a trolling motor for now and a battery. Gotta start somewhere. :-)
  14. My $150 Quantum KVD rod caught a biggest last year of 2.00 lbs. my $19.99 Berkley from Walmart caught one 5.80 lbs. I use what works best for me. Trial and error is key. I listen to the pros just to see what they use out of curiosity. I can't tell you all the countless bass I catch on the el cheapo minnows from Wally World.
  15. Lol. You guys be safe up there with all that snow!!!
  16. Man it's awesome! Like you said it is low pressure and they bite anything lol
  17. About 3 miles from where we live is a neighborhood with a huge pond stocked with big bass. It is a "residents and their guests only" fishing pond though. I drive there countless times in the last few years and I have never seen a person fishing it. Well, my parents are movin from down the road and they are having a new house built,,,,,,in that neighborhood! I got the clear to fish it and did just that yesterday. The bass were biting swim bait minnows in February with 49 degree water temps here in nc. It is about the size of a football field. :-)
  18. Well that explains why it worked well on my canoe. Lol. Thanks again for all the help. I'm looking at all the options, brands, features, etc and price. ;-)
  19. Oooohhhhhhh, now I get it. :-). Well, off to the laptop to do some more research. Now that I finally understand that pole is not the transducer on every model out there. :-/ lol
  20. I guess the Humminbird 110 I had came with that long pole so it could be transported and mounted easily. Apparently the transducer is contained in the bottom of that pole. Thanks for the info haikterz! :-)
  21. This is what I was talking about.
  22. Ok so here is my "newbie" language. So every unit comes with the "main screen unit" and the transducer (which would be the pole that goes into the water)? Sorry for the basic question but again I am new at the electronics stuff. Reason I ask is I have seen the electronics in smaller boxes and wondered where the big pole was as the transducer.
  23. I have taken a bag of cheaper plastic worms from Walmart and cut them in half and used them as jig trailers. It worked fantastic! I just thought of it in the boat one day and tried it. That's the beauty of bass fishing, we get creative. :-)
