  1. ¡!¡THANK YOU FOR USING A SCALE!¡!¡ And nice fish
  2. I heard from a few people that The river that I fish here in North Carolina needs to be fished with smaller lures. About 75 yards wide. Ranges 5-20 feet deep depending on how close to the center you get. Temps now in the water about 72*. The people I spoke to said their logic comes from a slower current need smaller bates especially swim bait minnows. Any input?
  3. Goes great with the verbiage of the title.
  4. I read the title and was like, "whaaaaatt???" Then I saw the video. I literally lol. Lmao!
  5. Apparently harder than I thiught. :-/
  6. Wasn't just out for bass. 4 years of bass fishing I wanted to catch new species. Gotta learn what else and how will bite on a river.
  7. What is a current break? What is a blowdown?
  8. That sounds good! My friend was catching fish on a Vibrex #3 in line rooster tail looking lure. Also there are plenty of places that dump water in at different sources. I will slow it down there and go to smaller lures. Thanks! I will also try the jigs too. ;-)
  9. Very slow current Water level was +1.5 Stained to kinda muddy (rained two days prior) I was using some 4 inch minnows and cranks about 2-3 inches long. Like business card size.
  10. Went river fishing for the first time this weekend. The river is in NC and was about 18-20 feet in the center and the edges were 3-7 feet. River was about 50 yards across. Temps in the low 70's in the water. The Cape Fear spans about 200 miles. Looked almost identical to the lakes and ponds I fish as far as the "sides" of the river were concerned. However, the usual lake and pond lures and presentations didn't seem to work? Why is this? I threw poppers in areas that looked 100% legit for a strike. Nothing. Saw fish on the electronics about 15 feet in the middle. Threw some cranks. Nothing. Seems almost like a whole new breed of fishing pattern and style. They had some LMB, gar, catfish, hybrid stripers, and warmouth. Got skunked after several hours. What is the deal? Thanks!
  11. I had a bad experience with them. I paid the $27 per month for about 6 months. DVD's weren't that great. Lot's of talk about super basic stuff. I called to cancel and they told me that they can get it down to $10 a month (I was like why not do this at first). I still cancelled and they did. Also they give you a cheap little bronze stamp every other time you get a DVD with a bass pic on it of some sort too. This was like 1 months ago. They just sent me again the registration packet to rejoin last week. I sent it back. Go on YouTube or buy good DVDs at bps.
  12. I have many combos. I have one that is about $350 with all I have custom put into it. I also have a $20 BPS Brawler rod with a $50 black max reel. Smoothest reel and most durable rod. This is a $70 combo obviously. In use this cheap combo most of the time as it has caught my PB and numerous 6lbs.+ bass. Spend wisely. The combo needs to be reliable, but the angler catches the fish with priceless skill; not expensive gear.
  13. Forgot to mention my daughter has a 4 foot stuffed bass pillow from BPS on her bed.
  14. Cool guys! I am ready for my first 10 pounder replica on the wall in my office.
  15. Wow. Never knew that. Makes sense though about the grounding issue and also about resurface too. So when they "shock" fish to the surface I guess the probe goes deep enough in theater for them to get struck.
  16. Saw from the boathouse a lightning bolt hit the lake. Does it kill fish within a certain depth from the top?
  17. I have designated our garage as my fishing room. However I have some other bass decor around the house like my magazine racks of bass mags, some figurines from Disney Fishing, and other stuff. We need a picture above our 55gal aquarium. Wife wants some beach pic. I've seen some nice ones at BPS. ;-)
  18. I fish year round in all conditions. It helps me to be proficient when the bite gets tough. I have had a time or two when I've taken a few days or a week off because I lost the drive to cast a line. Maybe it was due to a previous bad day, or because I didn't feel like loading up my gear. A few day sabbatical made all the difference. ;-)

  20. I've been fishing since 2011. About 90% huge ponds and about 10% lakes here and there in my kayak. I want to venture out to bigger waters. Mainly go to ponds more and even hit some rivers. Would be good to get a gar, bowfin, something different here and there. However I am really wanting to get not just bigger bass, but a bigger picture of how the water environment is different on bigger waters. Any links, articles here on BR, or books maybe to help me get set for the new waters? People tell me all the time that the river currents are bad and I need to be careful. I've visited the Cape Fear river here in NC for a nice trail hike. Current is rougher in some places but still in others like glass. This river is about 10 minutes from our house. Thanks guys! Joe
  21. Update. So we talked to them. They got upset. Told us we were wrong to accuse (being that my wife found and showed me the lice on the girl's head that night). So with that being said, they have some hygienic decisions to make on their own. For us, we have eliminated the issue thus far.
  22. Yeah we did that last night. Went about as well as it could. Wife got all defensive and he didn't say much.
  23. They heard OJ was a remedy. Wrong. :-/ Working on that now redline. Good thing is our daughter understands too. :-)
  24. Clacker for VP!!!
