  1. Single cable. Where can I buy the cable and rack?
  2. Looks like my 1989 Cajun has a broken steering cable and possible a rack and pinion. Has a 70 Johnson on it. Took it to the specialist here in town and said I'm looking about $325-$450 parts and labor and tax worst case scenario. He said the total job is about 1.5 hours. Is this something I can do in my garage? Or will I need special tools? I wasn't sure if I could get the parts cheaper that way too.
  3. Thanks! Like I said, I've had canoes, kayaks, jon boats, but this is my first bass boat. It's not a brand new one but it runs great, good shape, and I'm learning. :-)
  4. No remote tank. Have to mix it. :-)
  5. Well, gotta start somewhere. 1989 Cajun 16.5 feet. Has a Johnson 70 on it. 2 stroke. As far as the fuel do I put gas in the tank and then add two stroke oil to it directly in the tank spout? Or does it have a tank just for that itself? I found online a 70 Johnson 1989 takes 2.5oz to 1 gallon of the marine 2 cycle. Does that indicate the first option I mentioned?
  6. I used to subscribe to Bassmaster series DVD set. Got boring. Looked online at you tube and got tired of searching. Found a few at BPS but they were pretty old (unless I'm missing some). Where can I get good DVD's to watch especially in this slow winter where I fish less because of the season. I like learning based ones and also good tournament footage, tips, etc.
  7. Was wondering if anybody on here has any tattoos of bass or bass fishing or any other fishing tatts? If so post up a pic!
  8. My weakness is saying "one more cast" and actually mean it. :-)
  9. Cool beans. I wonder if they can track the age of fish that way to some extent?
  10. I spent $0 on a mount kit. I put transducer directly on the bottom, ran about 1.5 feet of the wiring on the side of the kayak around the paddle holder (can't even see the wire). Put some marine epoxy around the screws where it attaches to the bottom of the yak. Works 100% fine. Non issues or leaks. I'd rather be creative and free than spend that kind of money on a kit like that. Even plastic piping and other hardware store items cost a fraction of that thing. Joe
  11. I see mention of this often on this site. Why and where is it done?
  12. Price doesn't mean squat. I can out fish a rookie who uses the aforementioned items at high prices and I could use Walmart specials and an old John Boat and do better. Not saying the experience is everything, but it is really important as well to have reliable equipment.
  13. I could eat popcorn and read your post. It's like a story from the pages of a fishing book. Well written!!!! Great fish!!! They look frozen solid too lol
  14. Maybe the not full packs idea. Never thought of that. :-/ The other people shopping there were joking around saying "is this stuff stolen?" I got a bag of Senkos for 75 cents. Lol
  15. The North Carolina fishing Expo came to town yesterday. One of the vendors was selling a ton of lures like soft plastics. The prices per pack were between 75 and 99 cents. I'm talking high dollar brands like Senkos and Zooms that retail for close to $6-$8. There were some crank baits and other hard lures too. The thing is all of the soft plastics had the seal broken on the bag. Hundreds of bags all the same way. The bags were all slimed on the outside. The crank baits and the like were about average price. The tops of all the bags were ripped open but we're all closed with the ziplock part. Wonder if they had some bulk stuff and put it in the bags and that explains the almost 95 percent off.
  16. I had my first rod, reel, ($20 Walmart special) and little tackle box for Christmas 2011. I literally went to the lake that morning here in NC and tried stuff out. I lost about 3 lures because I didn't know how to tie. I would tie a shoelace knot two or three times and that's it. Took me a few weeks before I caught my first bass. It weighed about 8oz. :-) Took months to learn the tackle and gear. Took years from 2011 even u til now to fine tune. I like to look back and see where I came from. Now I have countless rod and reel combos, thousands in gear and boat equipment, who knows how much in books and magazines and videos, and I still remember my first cast. The equipment doesn't make you the better angler, but I know enough now to know what to by for what price on quality. Everyday is a new learning experience.
  17. Beautiful colors. :-)
  18. Merry Christmas!! Ready for some BPS gift cards. :-)
  19. Is that still a blue gil? Title confuses me when you all call it a shad.
