  2. Does anyone know what the oil & gas ratio is for a 1967 6hp evinrude is? Thanks
  3. What's the best way to keep my 16' flatbottom from drifting in the wind with a bow and stern ancher. Do I point the bow into the wind, or ancher sidways to the wind?
  4. How about a whistle or horn and flares
  5. Couple questions guys. When I charge my battery's, do I take the lids off? And what type of water do I use if they are low? And how long do I charge them? When I charge them the needle on my charger will reach 100% and keep going quit a ways past 100%. Should I stop at 100% or let them charge till the needle stops?
  6. Thanks guys, I located the problem. It was the upper brake & turn lights shorting out. Replaced them, everything's ok now.
  7. I need help with trailer lights. This is how my trailer is wired http://www.geocities.com/deererun97/trailerlights.jpg and I keep blowing the tail light 15amp fuse so I put in a 20amp. It blew so I put in a 25amp and it works but the lights are reel dim. Any suggestions?
  8. I drive a 95 bronco 5.8L 351 and i'm with you C-ball. I don't want to no the MPG while towing. But Master Hunter, if you go with a diesel, then check this artical out. It was in my local newspaper. http://www.qctimes.net/articles/2006/03/29/news/hometowns/doc442a226c1daa3335535731.txt
  9. Thanks Ben. So, Sounds like I might have to get a new steering system when I get an outboard unless it happens to fit my steering cable. When I,m looking for an outboard, and the ad say's MERCURY, REMOTE, LONG, ELECTRIC. CONTROLS. What does "controls" & "remote" mean?
  10. Does anyone know if ANY outboard can be conveted so it can be steered from a center counsel? Or do I have to buy a motor already setup for that?
  11. Hey guys. the capacity tag on the boat I bought says max hp is 35 for tiller steering or 75hp for counsel steering. Does this sound right? I don,t think this boat would be safe with a 75hp on it. The boat is 16' x 64" beam.
  12. This might do the trick. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat21276&id=0023818016806a&navCount=1&podId=0023818&parentId=cat21380&navAction=push&catalogCode=IG&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat21380&hasJS=true I was thinking of getting one.
  13. Kelly blue book only has personal watercraft pricing. But here is a web site for pricing any boat, and I mean any boat. http://www.nadaguides.com/ I just bought a 1977 polar craft 16" and did searches for it on the web and came up with vary little imformation and no pictures. So I was surprised when www.nadaguides.com not only found my 1977 polar craft but had every modol for every lenght made that year. 30 all together, 11 differnt 16 footers. Polar craft must have been a populer boat 30 years ago. There are three blue books generally accepted in the U.S. and used by boat dealers, the NADA Marine Appraisal Guide, the BUC Used Price Guide, and the ABOS Marine Blue Book. You can find copies of them at marine insurance agents or banks that handle boat financing. They come in handy when buying and selling a boat.
  14. Is that ture? Fishfinder's can spook fish? :-?
  15. My older brother had one of them boats. His buddy hooked him in the face while casting. HA ;D HA ;D HA. I know its not funny, but if you knew my brother you would be laughing too. Be careful out there!
  16. The Trailer is a 99 shorelander with 13" tires. It will be nice to have if I get a bigger boat someday. Next year I might get a 30hp for it, but for now 2 trolling motors will do the job. Most of the lakes here in Iowa are no wake or trolling motors only. But I do live on the Mississippi and would like to get out there and try for some walleye's.
  17. They were asking $1695.00 I talked the guy down to $1100.00, I'll try to do better next time guys. Everything on it works fine. Lights, bilge pump, anchor weanches, livewell, steering and trolling motor. The hull and floor are in great shape. Had it in the water, no leaks. Couple seats and a motor and a few mods and I'll be ready to go fishing!
  18. Hey all. I was thinking about buying this boat and trailer. Just wondering how much you would pay for it? It's a 1977 Polar Craft, length 16' beam 64". http://www.geocities.com/deererun97/01.jpg http://www.geocities.com/deererun97/02.jpg http://www.geocities.com/deererun97/03.jpg http://www.geocities.com/deererun97/04.jpg http://www.geocities.com/deererun97/05.jpg Thanks all
  19. Hey Guy's I just bought a 1967 Evinrude Fisherman 6hp outboard from a friend and he said that it ran fine but it has no power. Does this sound like a major problem? I only paid $30 for it and it's in real nice condition. And if I get a spare prop, does it have to be the same size, pitch and # of blades?
  20. Hi all! Well, i've got my search for a fishfinder narrowed down to 4. Humminbird Matrix 47 Has anyone used this one before? Lowrance X-135 Lowrance X-107c Color or grayscale? I'm leaning towords grayscale Lowrance LMS-480m This one has GPS. Only $100 more than the X-135. Is there an advantage to having the GPS in the same unit as the fishfinder, as oppossed to having a handheld GPS and a fishfinder? If anyone has used one of these fishfinders, I would like your opinion on it. Have you guys seen these fishfinders? Sweet!!! http://www.humminbird.com/products.asp?ID=507
