  1. FYI, I gave Rodney the heads up about you know which color. He said he wants to see it. He might also persuade you to give him a couple to try.
  2. Speaking of Casey, There's a few things I have to mention about that fellow. Firstly (shameless plug), everybody get yourself a subscription to Bass Quest magazine. The latest issue rolling out features on article on Casey showcasing topwater tactics, written by me! yay! Secondly, I was out on la cygne yesterday and Casey was out there. Pretty fun running into a pro on the lake. That's all.
  3. Better name that one rodney, for obvious reasons
  4. A rodney rattler bladed jig huh. uhoh
  5. Gotcha. The real boat thing is pretty nice, not to say yours wasn't real. Anything to get you on the water is what matters. But, I will say. Switching from a 16 foot fish and ski to a 20 foot bass boat is a night and day difference. It'd be tough going back...
  6. Your list of baits have been very good producers for me out at lacygne too, just not this year for some reason. It's been weird. Most of my fish have wanted to play with jigs rather than anything else. I haven't been able to get on a good crankbait bite out there to save my life. What's up with your boat man? Selling? Needing repairs?
  7. Also, as an aside, if the fish are really active and dragging a jig is working, I have found a biffle hard head type jig with a biffle bug type bait can be very effective in the same areas. Just real it in slow, ticking the rocks...
  8. Very odd- jig is my best producer out there. Doesn't necessarily work every time, but... Here's my recent success story. 1/2 ounce to 3/4 ounce football. Colors- Missouri craw and black and blue are the best producers. Trailers- throw a yum wooly bully on the back if the fish are active. A beaver if they are not. Technique- Drag, drag, drag. I do not hop the jig at all unless it's stuck on a rock. Where do I fish it? Rock, anywhere from 5-20 fow. I don't even bother with wood out there with my jigs. Occasionally I take a few fish hopping a jig around the grass lines, but for the most part it's dragging in rock.
  9. Melvern wasnt very good fishing on saturday. Caught a couple of handfuls of smallmouth. There was no consistent pattern, and the fish just werent really biting. Despite that, I did have some of the most explosive strikes on a spook I have ever seen, they were just few and far between. I ended up giving a guy a tow from the dam to the Eisenhower ramp, and that took a good 45 minutes out of my day; but I was happy to help.
  10. Good luck. I've got a bit of a desire to go out to melvern and see what's going on out there. Throw a crank/spook and maybe drag a jig out on some points. I know clayton didn't do to0 hot out there a while back, but fishing sucked most everywhere I went last weekend.
  11. Have no idea where to go tomorrow. Decisions, Decisions.
  12. But seriously, You know some of the pros that fish the bend on their circuits are checking out the toledo bend thread. I know I would be.
  13. That's right guys. I'm an anonymous pro. Now you have to figure out who I am.
  14. 20-30 mph winds forecasted tomorrow out of the south. I think I'll try some smaller water tomorrow and see if I don't end up getting blown off. Anyone ever fish maple leaf lake? My buddy fished there not long ago and it was on fire; a lot of fish with one that went 6+ to make things interesting. I may end up out there tomorrow to fight the wind for a while
  15. After years of our lakes being anywhere from 1-4 foot below normal pool, I'm happy to say it looks like we're finally back to normal. Should change fishing quite a bit, hopefully for the better.
  16. Finally over? Don't kid yourself.
  17. That's a good lookin' shirt. I mean bass, That's a good lookin' bass.
  18. How do these threads start again? I'm am actually pretty curious how much this fish weighed. You know, I have a scale, and a golden rule. But this fish didn't make it to either of those things, because this fish was bleeding pretty bad. Anyhow, I thought I'd make this thread to get a chuckle- and to show off a pretty nice bass anyway. My guess is somewhere between 1/2-10 pounds but I could be wrong. Do you guys think that fish wanted that popper or not? I'm not really sure. Anyway. It was fun. Throw popper by solitary log. Pop-pop-pop-pause. Look away to talk to my buddy. Look back- giant swirl, delayed hookset (on purpose of course) and some stripped drag later and there she was.
  19. What this guy said ^^^. I've caught fish on just about everything out there; the most consistent is the ned, however there are days when they don't want it as much as they want a crankbait. Really, if you have these five baits on, you'll catch fish on one of them: Ned, Tube, Spinnerbait, Crankbait (either small squarebill or medium diver) spook.
  20. I'm trying to gauge interest in having a get together, perhaps in the summer for Lacygne. Here's how I'd like it to go down: The format thus far has been 5 biggest combined fish between partners, whether it be length or weight. Because la cygne is known as a big fish fishery, I thought it'd be fun to do a big bass bash of sorts. My idea is boaters biggest fish, and non boaters biggest fish: so that'd be two biggest fish (highest combined weight) is the winner. It would likely change how everyone fished, looking for just one bite instead of a bunch. Plus, I wouldn't complain with only catching one fish all day if it was an 8 lber.
  21. That's the kind of lake these big bass boats are made for!
  22. It's not something i'm proficient at, but it appears your best bet when ledge fishing out at kentucky is to pay close attention to your graph. In fact, investigate the ledge you're on before even throwing a line, marking bait balls/schools. Once you've found those, and you get the schools fired up, it's game on.
