  1. 6 and a quarter, however i have no idea what the heck my scale is really at. I weighed two 3 pound weights, and they came out at 5. Weighed another ten pound weight, and it weighed in over ten. Who knows, ha.
  2. I'm think I may try and fish out there sometime before the the shindig. The bass I was fishing for today were biting on red eye shads... It's getting to be that time. Gonna have to tie on a jerkbait too soon it seems.
  3. Went out to some small lakes today with a buddy. We whacked the snot out of them on squarebills and lipless cranks, but our trolling motor battery died due to high winds. We decided to do some bank fishing on a small pond. All of the floating moss had stacked on one side of the lake due to the wind. My buddy started catch 2-3 pounders on a frog pretty good so I tied one on. I missed my first fish, which felt like every bit of four pounds but ended up with this one a little later. I'll take that for my first frog fish
  4. John Redmond is supposedly just a giant shallow mud flat that's only really good for cat fishing. Went fishing on some small lakes/ponds today. Caught my first EVER frog fish, and it was a giant.
  5. Tentatively put me down as coming.
  6. I'm with this guy here. I happen to enjoy mound a good deal. In fact, I would much rather fish mound than critzer. Critzer has taken a lot of pressure off of mound and the guys I've spoken with that used to fish mound a lot say it's back on the upswing. Apparently in the past, 8 pounders have been known to come out of the lake but you didn't hear it from me. I had a 4-5 come unbuttoned earlier in the spring on the east bank when the grass and pads were just coming out. They're in there.
  7. The odd thing Cole, was I was not under the rock creek bridge, but actually fishing the riprap parallel to the marina. They were busting shad like crazy in that area. That bank that is north of the row of docks has the channel right up against it. I was going to try fishing that at the end of the day, but was just too tired. I hear you on the finger thing. I had more treble in my thumb that what I would've liked.
  8. I was catching them on a bps squarebill. Texas shad color. I didn't keep any of the fish, though I thought about it. Whites are not as good as crappie in my opinion but they're one of the better eating freshwater fish out there, and like most fish you catch out of the lake, they are best FRESH. Crappie tend to keep much better than the whites.
  9. Forgot to attach a picture. Here's the size of the whites I was catching yesterday. Despite not finding the green fish, it was still pretty fun to be whacking whites this size.
  10. Well, couldn't find the green (or brown) fish anywhere on perry yesterday. Hunted for them for about 5 hours before I hung it up. Fished marina docks, piers, main lake points (and secondary's), channel bank, bridge rip-rap, and had one bite on a jig. I absolutely smoked the whites though. Texas shad squarebill around bridge rip-rap in rock creek. Some of em probably went over two pounds.
  11. Missed fish- "That one was a giant" Landed big fish- "YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!" Multiple snags in a short period of time- "You've got to be kidding me" If they ain't biting- "What in the world am I doing wrong here?" But the most common response is almost always (as another poster noted) "CRAP" or it could be any variety of disgruntled noises "UGHHH" "AGHHHH"
  12. Perhaps Perry would be good for this fall adventure. I would sure try my hardest to catch this one. As much trouble as I have on that lake, everyone would smoke me. I STILL can't figure out how to get into numbers when I get out there. I can't complain though. The fish I do catch are usually between 3-5 pounds.
  13. Hey KC guys. How's it going? Been a minute since I've checked in here. It's also been a minute since I've taken the boat out. Not that it's finally cooled down, I'll be getting out again next week. Any lakes that are hot? What are the fish doing in your local waters right now?
  14. Dont exclude the rest of us ks guys Christ. I live in shawnee too
  15. They're not just a little too thick. They are too thick. I know that the fishing can be good there, but you have to be about crazy and in a really small jon boat to get to the good spots. Plus, all of it starts looking the same which can drive a man crazy. I'm fortunate fish were relating to the dam the other day. That made things easy.
  16. Speaking of critzer, went there on the 4th. It was hot (yep). Anyhow, it was pretty slow. My buddy and I caught about six a piece, most coming from the dam. I ended up with a smallmouth out there, so that was kind of fun.
  17. It was actually noticeably greener than usual. I was a bit perplexed by this, seeing as how I'm used to the mud tint out there.
  18. Well, finally got into a nice one at perry. Caught this 5 1/2er this morning in rock creek marina.
  19. Went to table rock this past weekend and caught my first smallies ever. They all come in shallow gravel areas, on puke colored tubes. Probably caught around ten. It was hard for me to figure things out. Here's my PB smallie (ha) Also, here was the biggest fish of the trip that came on a 6xd in around 15-18 fow around standing timber. It was a fun trip even though fishing was a little slow.
  20. Just get out and do it man. I just got a boat myself and I'm still learning myself, and the best advice I have for ya- Fish and then fish some more out of the thing. Oh, and if you are trailering, practice on an empty boat ramp or parking lot or something. And don't forget to pull up your trolling motor when you put on the big motor. Learned about some of that stuff the hard way...
  21. I will be there the 17th-20th...
  22. Good information to have. I've fished the channel banks with little to no luck, but have had decent luck around rock- especially man made rock areas. I hope to go again soon and put some more pieces together. Perry is kind of becoming an obsession of mine, even though I've not had great successes there as of yet. They're coming... Speaking of success, last saturday I went out to mound city and wacked em pretty good. Caught more than twenty. Everything I caught was pretty much on a squarebill. Had 8 fish come unbuttoned, and one of them would've at least been high fours. Probably easily would've gone five, maybe even six, but you never know. Bigger fish are certainly in there. Most of my fish were 12-14 inches, but I caught these nice ones.
  23. Retro, I've been trying to figure out the perry puzzle myself. What have you been noticing? Where have you been fishing? So far, I've fished most of the lake's creeks (rock creek, slough creek, little slough creek), but haven't fished much of the main body. Still trying to figure out the puzzle myself, that's for sure.
  24. Well, my name is Blake, and I'm from kansas too. How funny. Anyhow, welcome aboard.
  25. He's some kind of freak of nature.
