  1. Here were our two "nice ones"
  2. Camden and I (he posts a lot over at another forum I frequent) had some serious issues as well, just like the rest of the crew. We started fishing a pocket and camden pulled out a nice walleye. I had a bass that might have made our total around 10 pounds instead of 8 short strike my spinnerbait right at the end of a ladder that I got a good look at. That was the only bite we had for the first 2 hours that was a bass. We bombed the flats in the east creek arm with nothing to show for it, then starting fishing some docks. I caught 4 dinks on a wacky rigged stick bait and gave up on that pattern simply because nothing of size was hitting. We made a move and started power fishing the main lake on the west side where I caught our first fish that was a smallmouth that was worth weighing, at about a pound and some change. Further down, Camden caught a 3.1 largemouth on a squarebill. After this everything slowed down and we didn't get another bite for hours. Finally, we made a move to the flats where clayton and chris caught most of their fish, except we were fishing quite a bit different. Bass were striking a rattlebait pretty well. We added another largemouth that was a pound and some change, and after about 7 more dinks I finally caught a decent fish that weighed 2lbs 13 oz. All in all I probably caught around 15 fish but none of them were the fish we needed to best Clayton and Chris.
  3. had a great time, thanks to the organizers and everyone who made this a reality!
  4. I just made a relatively large purchase (new bass boat). Don't think I could get the wife on board... yet. But someday I'll get down there with you all. Count on it.
  5. Gotta make it down there one of these days...
  6. Man there are so many that "Stand Out." I think the one that keeps coming to my mind as I reflect, is one of the first fishing trips I ever had with my dad in his boat. My grandparents had a place on grand lake ok, and my dad had recently bought a beautiful blue champion with a 200 on it. Prior to going out fishing, we went to the local baitshop and they put us on a hot bait. It was some 8 inch paddletail type worm that floated, in red shad color and it was made by pradco. I can still almost remember the way the bait shop owner looked. We texas rigged that bad boy up and flew up the elk river to a point that wasn't far away from our dock. My brother and dad weren't catching anything. Neither was i, until I threw my worm in only inches of water at the beginning of the point. I set the hook, and in she came. My dad made me feel like it was a monster. We put it in the livewell (even though I'm sure it wouldn't have measured), and took it to our dock to show mom and snap some pictures. I think I still have that package of worms in my tackle bag. Special times.
  7. But my real pb is in my avatar, obviously.
  8. It was interesting alright..
  9. We should've flown kites.
  10. That thing is stupid big.
  11. Better than a cavity search.
  12. I'm hopping over to the dollar store to get some high quality condiments today. I hope I remember to bring them.
  13. Did she embrace you lovingly?
  14. Partly cloudy. High of 63F. Breezy. Winds from the West at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 mph. Man, this is gonna suck...
  15. This had me laughing pretty good.
  16. That's putting it lightly.
  17. I have. It doesn't exactly taste like tea. But it does have a certain warming sensation going down.
  18. We'd have a lot more to worry about than our boats being sprayed down with bleach if that happened
  19. Hoping this cold front doesn't shut the fish down or put em in a funk. Bass theory says they'll be holding tight to the docks.
  20. I'll bring something tasty. Yet to know exactly what it will be at this point
  21. So, uh, what time are we needing to get out there? Gosh... launching 8 boats is gonna take at least an hour with you know who. Maybe longer.
  22. Congrats on that pb. My old pb smallmouth came from the dam at melvern too. Several 4's and a number of 5's have been caught off the ol reliable melvern dam, so get back out there and get ya a bigger one!
  23. Here's a couple of nice ones from Lacygne today. I'm starting to piece that lake together a little bit. Kind of. (haha)
  24. ahh. this thing is october 5th. why was i thinking it was the week before? Good thing I read that.
