  2. Good form. Teach me please.
  3. Smallies run all over the place. Some of the smallies I've caught are among the ugliest fish I've ever seen (with the exception of drum, they take the cake). And then on the other side of the coin, I've caught some smallies that are among the prettiest fish I've ever seen.
  4. Well, I guess we could always tie jigs instead. HA.
  5. After a "Funny" post, I will now give me two cents. Keep in mind however, I do not consistently catch big bass, so perhaps "don't do as I do" isn't bad advice afterall. 1. Know where these big girls hang out, and when they hang out there. If you don't know where these girls hang out, and when they hang out there, find out. How? Research, talk with old timers who just might be willing to divulge information, study study study. 2. Patience: most big bass anglers will tell you that they are fishing for one bite. If you think you're on a good spot, then soak it. This is something I struggle with immensely and is probably why I DON'T consistently catch big bass. These fish are hard to come by for a reason. There aren't many of them... 3. Most importantly, put time on the water. You can't catch that big one if your line isn't wet.
  6. I'll bring my fishing rods. Is there enough room in there to try and flip into a bucket of water from the front deck? Probably won't be very good at getting the jig in there if we're hitting the bourban good though
  7. My buddies and I caught a number of fish (mostly bass) on jerkbaits out there a few weeks back. I even caught a few! You guys know how much i love jerkbaits. Even caught a drum on one. Imagine that.
  8. When I win the lotto, I'll make a thread and send the first 10 to respond in it there.
  9. And please, no smart@$$ comments like these "I live in florida, and will be pulling out swamp donkeys all winter long, dur-de-dur" You guys don't know how lucky ya got it.
  10. Who wants to go to bacarrac? All of our water is starting to get hard. It's gonna be a longgggg winter. I'm already having panic attacks of sorts. Tried to go fishing on a really cold one at our power plant lake, and was fighting ice in my guides all day long. That wasn't fun. Anyway, all the gear is out of the boat, and I have just a few things left to do before she goes in her winter slumber. They say it's the most wonderful time of the year. I beg to differ. What do you guys do the num the pain? I think I will try to read bill murphy's book cover to cover, do some journaling on this years ventures, watch some youtube videos and shop some sales to keep the pain at bay. Oh, and I'll be fishing in my dreams. And seriously, who wants to go to bacarrac?
  11. That water south of the bridge is supposed to be pretty hot in the spring. Always wanted to get down there, but have never bought the ar license.
  12. To my knowledge, this applies for mo residents as well.
  13. 1. Don't fish with me. 2. Don't listen to my advice. 3. Review my first two tips.
  14. I'm on table rock 1-2 times a year, sometimes more. Some of my relation own a resort on indian point. I'd love to get with you sometime when I'm down there. Since you're familiar with the rock, you probably already know this, but if you "master" these techniques, you should always be able to catch fish. Topwater - The redfin is famous here. All about the wiggle diggle. Change out the hooks and do some minor mods to this bait, and it can be killer. Other than that, a spook works great too. Have these two on deck during topwater season and hang on. Every once in a while a popper bite can turn on as well. Crankbaits- Wiggle wart. When the water is cool, sometimes this is the only bait you need tied on. The 6xd can catch some good fish too when the water warms up and the fish move out. Slow presentations: 1/2-1 ounce jigs. Colors can vary, but pbj or natural greens work awesome. Where the fish are hanging out dictates how heavy to go obviously. All you gotta do is drag that thing on the right point. Some people like throwing a heavy finesse jig around docks as well. Tubes in the right color can also be great producers if the fish are shallow or in the bushes. I'm pretty fond of the "puke" color for a tube. The drop shot (which I've never thrown) certainly has its place on this lake as well when fish are deep over trees. Other presentations that have their time: Suspending jerkbaits can yield big bags if the bite is there. The A-rig can do the same. I've been able to catch some nice mixed bags on the "ned rig", but that bait only works if you find the right stretch it seems. I've found that shallow water close to the channel is a good place to start. And now I will say in my best Sean Connery voice "Welcome to the rock"
  15. I got all of the tackle out of the boat, cleaned it up last night, etc. All that's left is taking the batteries out, and stabilizing the fuel. Come on spring, get here. My fall season sucked this year! So, I'm needing a good spring to even things out.
  16. Hate to ask this, but is it spring yet?
  17. Guys like you Dwight, keep the young guys like me in check. Talk about inspiration.
  18. Gonna go to lacygne and freeze my butt off tomorrow. I'll let you know if any other crazies are out there. Hopefully I'll catch something that makes freezing worth it.
  19. You're just gonna blend in with the crowd now. Gonna be harder to spot you at lacygne... Nice boat man.
  20. Time to start saving the dollars and get down there...
  21. I'm willing to bet the wind will keep most sane people off the lake tomorrow. I know I'm not going.
  22. I think the chances are better of me road tripping down to lake fork by myself...
  23. 15-25 mph winds with 35 mph gusts and tstorms in the forecast for saturday. I'm really hoping that changes or I might not be getting out this weekend.
  24. touche. I think something we can all agree on is all of our employers need to give us one day off, every week, to go fishing. Might get more productivity out of us that way haha.
