  1. off subject kinda but reminds me of something i did a couple years ago.. was fishing stripper, surf casting with my conventional set up with a penn squider.. well i set the reel clicker and had the spool unlocked. sat back and relaxed.. the clicker went off zzzzzzzzzzzz so i grabbed the rod and set the hook without engaging the reel and ZING what a nest.. i don't know how big that fish was of course but man did that turn into a tug of war..
  2. krocodile... 3/4oz chrome and blue.. or a gold castmaster 3/4oz... the bigger trout ive got on lures were on either one or the other of those..
  3. the small rapalas also.. like the original floating, countdowns, jointed.. the J7 gold and black back is my go to for trolling.. if you need to get some distance out of them ive used a egg sinker with a swivel stopper and a 2' leader or so works just the same with a rubber core sinker also, just every oucne and a while you get a little line mess around the weight, for some reason i think they work better that way, i dunno why maybe they swim at a downward angle presentation thingy? the rainbow trout pat a goodie, the brook trout pattern also.. gold and black back. joes flys work good.. i usually use them in rivers and streams.. royal coach pattern is my go to... those things lock a trouts mouth shut good.
  4. depends... do you need better than hardloy etc... whats on sale.. etc.. if i can get a deal on fancy guides i get em but if i have to pay the price for them then no thanks lol. i fine with hardloy, they never let me down yet..
  5. home defense is not my responsibility lol, i got a wife for that.. both me and the dog are useless ounce we fall asleep that's it, someone could break in and ask me where the money is and id probably mumble about my wallet, then ***** about being asked something while sleeping and yell at them for a min, then roll over and fall back to sleep.
  6. are you trying to add more fire to this topic or just kissing glens bass? it only lead to a further explanation of what his problems and situation he was in and it even included his involvement in the shooting sports as a bonus.
  7. well the gun hype has yet to cool, so yea some how im sure the next political refugee whos not up to date with you on this will post something and someones going to follow them.. you probably going to pop another blood vessel or something.. so don't know what to tell ya then lol probably needs a month for the fire as a whole to calm back down to normal... shut it down or baby sit for another month... or shut it down for month... i dunno? good luck
  8. re read your post.. Continued violation of this rule will result in the elimination of the gun forums altogether. why take it out on everyone here or threaten to do so... ban the people violating the rules not the whole gun section. what you said there is a low blow and considering the topic you chose its just down right nasty,. maybe your not into guns and that's fine, Im sure allot of people appreciate that you added a section for guns on your forum anyway but with all due respect its a low blow to threaten to take it away for a few heated political debates or whatever.... you got a problem with political people take it out on them not everyone...
  9. oh man. there going to ban guns, your going to ban the gun forum. now your going to threaten to ban the gun forum for political comments made and etc if it continues and nothing said about banning the people making those posts instead etc... i tell you then fine you want to act like that Mr Glen then take this topic the gun section and the whole forum and stick it up your bass.
  10. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Fishing/Tackle-Craft/Rod-Building-Kits|/pc/104793480/c/104776380/sc/103869180/Pacific-Bay-Custom-Rod-Building-Kits/1320761.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ffishing-tackle-craft-rod-building-kits%2Fpacific-bay%2F_%2FN-1100408%2B1000004235%2FNe-1000004235%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_103869180%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253BMMcat104793480%253Bcat104776380%26WTz_st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNU&WTz_l=SBC%3BMMcat104793480%3Bcat104776380%3Bcat103869180 casting rod? 20 bucks gives you what you need to play... looks like it would turn out to be a decent rod... plus its $20..
  11. AT844-3 7' 3 Med-Hvy Fast 12-20 1/4 - 1 7 .545 2.8 amtac travel rod 3 piece.. that would make a nice light tackle stripper rod. come in handy also cause pacs nice and you can use it for light stuff and catching mac for the big rod.. its got enofe back bone to jack 3 -4 macs up a jetty on one of them sabiki things.
  12. Rat Traps... put a donut chunk or pizza crust on there and set em next to the trash cans..
  13. pacific bay rainforest 2 RF2SA1026-2 8’6” 12-25 3/4-3 2 MOD-FAST HEAVY 6.5 0.53” 4.10 thats going to lack a bit on the surf i think though, limmit your load and or etc.... thats not going to handle throwing a live mac or half a poggy with grace. or any heavey metal or plugs etc.. pac bay pbx X2GSU100H-2 10’ 20-40 2-6 2 MOD-FAST HEAVY 9.0 0.74” 8.90 for surf casting chunking plugging general purpose stripper id prefer that or the equivalent of it in amtac or batson etc.. it might be a little over rated for lighter stuff but it will still give em a good throw. its 2 piece 50/50 split, it will break down to 5' if that don't fit well you bought the wrong car.
  14. for guides, i do just enough tension to take up the stretch in the tread. for decorative i go by more feel.. i wrap them with slightly a little more tension than the guide wraps id say but not much more. metalic threads just enofe to take up the slack in the thread.
  15. there always going to have something new / different and or improved.. i like when things are advertised as better in all directions and your like how is that possible this makes no sense sounds more like it better in half those directions and worse in the other half and usually thats the way it ends up.
  16. smear dog poop all over the line
  17. the 2000$ ones well im just waiting for them to come out with a model that has a dvd player or satelite tv or something then i split screen fishfinder/movie....
  18. 20$ sounds a little cheap... even new at bass pro i really didnt find there prices to be bad for good looking fishfinders.... what are you looking for in a fishfinder? last i was there it even seemed the DI models have come down a bit or they came out with a few more economy models... i mean 400 500$ DI few bells and whistles included etc new in box etc to me sounds affordable ive spent more on reels and 200 300 gets you probably the best in standard image there is...
  19. well re-set it to factory setting first there should be a button for that.... make sure to wait between adjustments also, sometimes there a little lag time between adjustments before they take affect... also put something down in the water should pick up a jig as a little spot that moves up and down and toss somthing big like an ancor it should pick that up all the way to the bottom if it only picks it up here and there on the way down increase scoll speed and senitivity till you can see it fall all the way down etc...
  20. increase the scroll speed?
  21. well it does sound like you need to get it more in the water and off the surface, but it also sounds like you need to push buttons and play with the settings, increace gain/sensitivity, is the beam on wide or narrow,, does it split screan with bottom lock that gives you the best bottom views etc etc etc.... make something up as a temporary mount that you can move around and etc... just sticking it at the old spot might not be any good either if it starts getting clutter from the engine boat hull etc...
  22. i remeber using my fishfinder little 110 buddy pordable as a fish finding wand... i had that thing out of the holded and aiming it all over the place looking for fish more than it was in the strait down position,, that thing was a 360 degree fish finding machine..
  23. not an expert but with the fish finders Ive had, ive had the opposite problem, surface noise would put allot of clutter of the screen and out of the water it would find more fish than in the water.. ive sent sonar all over my backyard when i first got the thing and there are allot of lunkers back there depth reading would be all over the place ... even out of the water and in your driveway that thing should be buzzing low water depth 2 feet... i mounted mine using an old trolling motor mount, took the motor out put a pipe in there attached the transducer to the end of the pipe ran the cable up the pipe to the unit and now i can lower it into the water a good foot below everything making noise, that got rid of the clutter and bad readings and made it more accurate but if i raise it up to the surface or pull it out of the water it finds lots of fish and stuff. so i have no clue why your having the problem your having with it, id say call the toll free tech support and see what they say? good luck
  24. most aren't to bad especially birds. get used to it all after a while outa of everything its hands down the bunny's, i don't think it is possible to get used to fixing them by hand.. kinda wish they would bite you or something to make it a little easier but there whole game plan is to make you feel bad... they always make it worse than it has to be.
  25. best to slit there throats while alive and let the heart shoot all the blood outta em... gut em out right away... then toss em in a cooler full of ice. if i catch em and going to eat em they are treated as food... it does make a difference!!! bleed em out, best way to kill anything thats food, granted 99% of you probably couldn't stomach your meal screaming and bloods shooting out all over the place... could ya? and were talking about how a fish dies... how bout some lamb for dinner, lets go get some nice farm fresh lamb chops... mmmmmmmmm good... .how bout if you want to save the blood for cooking also, then you gotta hang em upside down ALIVE over a bucket, sounds fun huh. any raise rabbits for food, only way i know is is hold by ears over barrel slit throat and let bleed, mmmmmmmmmm huh that's some life education right there.... how bout raising birds for dinner quail and stuff, hold em over a barrel get the big scissors and snip snip while alive off goes there head,, you think its done by walking up to a cage and shooting em up with a bb gun, yea i wish but no its not done that way on a farm..
